“I'm glad we have a sod house with a grass roof,” Polly declared. “Imagineâblossoms on the roof! It sounds like a poem.”

“These flowers are like the rainbow, the sign of God's promised blessings,” said Mother.

Polly buried her nose in the sweet-smelling blossoms. “Ben and I were talking about all the things that might happen this year. We might get a good wheat crop and lots of money to buy a cow and lumber andâ”

Mother interrupted Polly to say, “We don't know what God's plan is for those kinds of blessings, but this we know: God loves us, and He sent His Son to show His love. Whether or not we have plenty of money, we can have happy hearts if we obey God.”

About the Author

Rebecca Martin is a mother of four children, wife of Cleon, and author of numerous books. She and Cleon are members of the Old Order Mennonite church, semi-retired, and together they enjoy helping their married children. Rebecca also enjoys quilting as a pastime.
