Chapter One

“Where are we?” I ask Richard whilst looking around to see what I would call a dungeon, dark, dim, with a promise of torture.

“I thought I would show you around a little, shall we?” Richard asks as his grip tightens further on my arm, which I didn’t think were possible.

He leads me to a chair that is sitting in the middle of the dimly lit room; my heartbeat is starting to pick up as he throws me into it with a vile sneer on his once handsome face.

I know he doesn’t like me, because I befriended his fiancé. Well
, that’s not all true, I am connected to Dallah as a sister, and she is willingly giving herself to him to keep the White Coven, and her people safe from him.

“Tell me what you are you little bitch?” He shouts at me angrily.

“I’m nothing. Where is Dallah, you said she would be here?”

“You can see her in due time, I want to know a few things about you first.”

“Ok, shoot.” I tell him unenthusiastically.

He raises his hand high in the air. I’m not sure if he is going to hit me or make me flinch, no way am I flinching, the prick can hit me.

Whhakkk

“What the fuck?” I shout at him, but not before spitting a mouth full of blood at his designer shoes.

He shakes his foot in disgust, and grabs my chin harshly in his huge rough hand, his fingers biting into my cheeks.

“I am not one of them love sick fools of yours that follow you around like puppies, so don’t try your cocky shit with me. Tell me why the Alpha and his men have taken you, a human into their life and homes?”

Damn it, why did he have to ask this question. The Alpha he speaks of is Sallack. Sallack doesn’t want me, and I don't want him, not in that way anymore. Sallack ripped out my heart and murdered any hope in trusting another man again. However, that’s not why I’m here; I’m here to be with my beautiful sister, Dallah.

“I became friends with them, you know if you are nice to people, they like you in return!” I tell him through gritted teeth.

Whhakkk

“Fuck you Richard! I’m t
elling you what you asked of me!” I tell him as I try to stand to my feet, but I am soon pushed back into the chair with force.

I really don’t want my emotions to get high, as I don’t want Dallah and Angus fearing for me.

I have connections with both of them, so I need to keep myself calm so as not to alert them. I got myself into this, so I will deal with it, alone.

“I’ll tell you again as you are clearly stupid. No attitude, answer my questions or I will be happy to sit here all night and torture them out of you. Understand little Zara?” He asks in a belittling tone.

I nod my head to him, but inside I want to jump up and smash his face against the wall, but I know he is extremely powerful, and this will eventually lead me to Dallah.

“So the Alpha...?”

“I was in a relationship with Sallack. I was his, so the Brothers’ took me into their homes and hearts.”

“Why would an Alpha pick you?”

“Lucky, unlucky,” I tell him shrugging my shoulders.

I was lucky to be with such a
strong, beautiful man, but then unlucky to have gone through so much pain and heartache.

He pinches his trousers at the knees before he bends down to my eye level. His midnight black eyes soften just the smallest amount while he studies me closely.

“Dallah?” He asks running a hand through his neat black hair.

“I met Dallah when she was helping one of the wolves.”

I won’t mention it was Den, my best friend. I don’t want there to be any connection between us as far as Richard is concerned.

“More!” He shouts in my face hotly.

“There is no more.” I tell him calmly.

He hits me in the face again, harder this time making my head snap back
and sending a searing pain in my skull.

Standing abruptly he turns away from me, taking a deep breath before he turns his head to me slightly so that I only see the shadow of his chiselled features.

“I will be back in a few hours, do not sleep.” He orders powerfully, before he walks out of the dungeon like room, humming!

He is such an arrogant prick!

I feel awful for leaving with Richard, while the Brothers’ watched on in horror, but I’m hoping Angus will calm them a little as I was pushing my emotions onto him before we left the club, telling him I was not scared, and that I will be safe. Letting him feel I was safe was a lie, but a lie that needed to be told. The last thing I want is six Werewolves, and two 900-year-old Vampires come in all guns blazing. Luckily for me, Richard doesn’t know that I am the Charmer, with the power to Dream walk.

I have only ever visited one person through a dream, Dallah, but this power will come in very useful. Now all I have to work out is who to go to first.

I can hear footsteps coming down the stone walkway, and keeping an eye on the entryway, a man walks in with his head
downcast. He stands against the wall with arms crossed and head bowed.

“Who are you?” I ask distrustfully.

He doesn’t answer.

“Where are we?”

Again, nothing. Well now with this mute standing here, there is no chance of dream walking to anyone. I guess it doesn’t matter; it’s not as if any of them would have gone straight home to bed, especially after tonight’s event. The Brothers’ don’t sleep very often; I am probably better off waiting a little while longer.

Richard comes back with his head held high and an amused look on his face. I don’t know how long it’s been since he left, but it feels like I have been sitting here for days.

“Zara, I hope you have lost the attitude,” He tells me, standing tall and elegant in his designer suit.

“Where’s Dallah I want to see her?” I tell him feeling really pissed off, as I only agreed to come with him because he said Dallah would be here, he lied.

He is suddenly standing in front of me in a blink of an eye.

“Watch your tongue human, you are speaking to the Prince, not a fucking Dog!” He yells whilst looking me up and down in disgust.

“I have had enough of this shit; I came to see Dallah, not take a beating off you!” I scream in his face shaking with temper.

I refuse to show fear to him, it’s what he wants and what he is used to bringing out in people.

I’m suddenly airborne free from the chair, thrown across the room, slamming hard into the solid rock wall, and then painfully sliding to the floor with a large thud.

I see his feet appear in front of my eyes just as he roughly grasps me by my hair yanking me to my feet. A burning pain ensues through my scalp causing me to cry out.

“Never learn, will you. I will thoroughly enjoy our time together.” He tells me with a wicked grin on his evil face.

“Yeah
, me too.” I reply sarcastically.

I won’t let him see that I’m desperately trying not to let the tears fall from m
y eyes, refusing to appear weak. I wrench myself out of his grasp and step forward right to his face with fake bravado.

“I will break you Zara,” He taunts me with spite.

“I was already broken.” I tell him boldly, but quickly divert my eyes.

I hate Richard, like I have never hated anyone;
well, there is Mary, who slept with Sallack behind my back. Nevertheless, he is No.1 on my hate list.

He grips my arm, fingers digging painfully into my flesh, staring deep into my eyes. A fro
wn appears on his face, as if he’s trying to work me out, my own expression mirroring his giving nothing away.

“Put her in the room next to mine.” He tells the mute man, whilst pushing me toward him. I slam into the man
’s chest, as a fresh wave of pain shudders through me, from being hit in the face 3 times and then thrown against a rock wall! I’m going to look like the elephant man in the morning.

“Just tell me where she is! You have had your fun Richard!”

“Oh precious, the fun has just begun. Eugene, do as I say.”

“As you wish Prince.”

Oh, he does speak, even if his language is kiss ass!

Why would he not take me to the room if it were next to
him, not that I’m complaining. I have a feeling that charming this man is going to be impossible. He is a ‘Blackened Heart’ I know he is. He is extremely good looking, which is the first indicator, but he doesn’t measure up to any of the brother’s or Parrise and Angus, they are all loving and respectable men. Richard maybe powerful and good looking on the outside, but he is vile, cruel and merciless which makes him ugly throughout.

I’m led forward by Kiss-ass, the name I had given the man from the dungeon, to an elevator, which is strange because this place looks like it shouldn’t have electric. We enter the elevator and Kiss-ass presses no.3.

We must be at Richard’s palace, I now wish I had asked Dallah more about the Dark Coven, I feel at such a disadvantage.

We walk out of the elevator and into a completely different world from where I was. The walls and carpets are cream, there are beautifully painted portraits covering the walls, and it smells clean and warm, almost inviting.

“Here.” Kiss-
ass tells me, pushing a door open; he then pushes me inside the bedroom with unnecessary force.

Stumbling into the bedroom, the door is slammed shut behind me and locked. The bedroom is surprisingly wonderful; there is a humongous four-poster bed, drapes hanging from the solid wood frame. There is the most elegant dressing table; sitting on it is perfume in a glass and silver bottle, a silver plated hairbrush, and a few other smaller things, unfortunately my eyes are starting to swell so it’s getting harder to see.

I find the bathroom, which has a stunning bathtub, comple
te with toiletries , luckily. Therefore, I wash up my face and hands, removing the now dried blood. I’m so tired I just want to sleep, if I take a small nap, I will feel fresh, ready for what awaits me next.

Flopping onto the
bed, I let the past few hours seep into my mind.

Why did everything have to get
so screwed up? Why won’t he take me to Dallah? Closing my swollen eyes, I fall into a dark and lonely sleep.

“Angus?”

I call to him as I lean over him in his sleep like state. Parrise told me that Vampires don’t dream, so if I were to visit him or Angus in their sleep they would just be lying there.

“Angus, please wake up?” I ask in a whimper.

“Zara?” He croaks out as he opens his eyes slowly.

“Yeah, it’s me, Angus.”

“Shit, fuck, what were you thinking? WHAT THE FUCKS HAPPENED TO YOUR FACE!
” He shouts jumping to his feet.

“I’m fine, listen I need you to listen to me. Tell the
Brothers’ that I’m fine, safe with Dallah. I know it’s wrong of me to ask you to lie, but please Angus, I need you to trust me,”
