She dressed quickly and towel dried her hair. One benefit to short hair was that it dried quickly. Megan wished she had her makeup bag since it had all been washed off, but there wasn’t anything she could do about that. Maybe from now on she would pack a bag in case this incident of heaven ever happened again.

Placing her dirty towel in the hamper, she went upstairs to meet with Greg as they usually did. She was really beginning to enjoy their talks. While it threw her off at first, now it just made her feel that much more connected to him. No one had ever made her feel the way he did, from the sex to the way her heart fluttered when she saw him.

As she entered the kitchen, Greg’s back was to her. Taking the opportunity presented, she took in his body from behind. His hair was down as it dried, and there was a slight curl to the end. She wanted to wrap his locks around her fingers.

Megan took a seat and the sound from the chair caused Greg to turn around. “That was quick.”

“I didn’t want to keep you waiting.”

He smiled. “You’re so good to me.”

She tried to contain her happiness at his compliment. It thrilled her that he was so pleased with her.

“Give me a few minutes to finish this up. I wanted to make something special for you. I started it earlier.”

She took a moment to let the aroma flood her senses, and the smell made her stomach growl. She let her gaze wander around the kitchen. A crock-pot sat on the counter, and she wondered if he had prepared a roast. That was what it smelled like.

She didn’t have to wait long. Greg walked over and placed a plate in front of her with several slices of beef roast, seasoned potato wedges, and green beans. He then set a basket of rolls on the table.

“This looks and smells amazing. You did this for me?” she asked.

Greg took his seat. “Of course. You need your strength. And you’ve given me so much that I wanted to thank you with a proper meal. Not another sandwich.”

“You made good sandwiches.”

“Thank you. Now eat up, and then we’ll talk a little. I have something I want to discuss with you.”

Being quiet while she ate wasn’t hard. The food satisfied her to the fullest, and she savored every bite. The meat was so tender and juicy. The potatoes had some seasoning on them that gave them a light spicy kick. And the green beans she could tell had been cooked with the meat. As she bit into one, juice ran down her chin. If she wasn’t with company, she most likely would have attempted to lick it off, but she opted for using the napkin instead.

Megan finished her whole plate and two rolls. She was shocked by how hungry she was. Greg told her to meet him in the living room and said he would be there in a moment. She picked up her plate to take it to the sink, but he told her to leave it, so she did. She made her way to the living room and sat on the couch, remembering that the last time she’d been there, they’d made love on it.

Greg didn’t keep her waiting. He brought her drink from the kitchen and handed it to her before taking a seat on the opposite end of the sofa.

“First, I want you to be honest and open. Can you do that for me?” he asked.

“Yes, Sir.”

“Are you getting everything you need from this relationship?”

“I am.”

“Because now is the time to tell me if you aren’t satisfied with anything. Have you enjoyed everything we’ve done?”

She opened her mouth to speak, but hesitated.

“I can tell by that look there is something. Please tell me.”

Taking a deep breath, she said, “I didn’t like the nipple clamps. It brought me pleasure at the time, but I wasn’t crazy about the aftereffect. They were sore for days.”

“Thank you for telling me.”

It actually felt nice to express that. It had been so long since she’d told someone what she didn’t like without them getting upset.

“I’m really enjoying my time with you. Are you okay with the more ‘normal’ times we’ve had together?”

She assumed he was referring to their dinners, or the day they’d watched a movie. She loved those times. It made this feel like a relationship. And while she didn’t think she was ready for one, being with Greg made her want one. “I very much enjoy that time with you.”

“Good. That makes me happy, because I want to see you more often. I know we agreed on Tuesdays and then Friday and Saturdays, but can we add another day, or possibly have you stay the whole weekend?”

Megan bit her bottom lip. He wanted to spend more time with her, which was great, but was it safe for her feelings? Now was the time to tell him the truth, that she was developing feelings for him, but she just wasn’t sure she could form the words.

“To be honest, I would really like to have you here all weekend. Is that something you think you could do?” he asked.

“I don’t know,” she quietly said. “I have a cat, and I can’t leave her that long.”

She could see the disappointment on his face. She was about to speak and tell him she would see if her neighbor could look in on the kitty, but he spoke first. “Well, why don’t you think about a day then, if you want, and let me know on Friday.” He stood and held his hand out to her. “It’s getting late, and I don’t want to keep you.”

Taking his hand, she followed him to the front door. It was as though there was some stupid lump in the way of her vocal cords and she couldn’t express what she was feeling.

Before he opened the door, he asked, “Is there anyone you’re talking to about all of this? I know you have a friend in the lifestyle. Do you confide in her?”

Megan shook her head.

“Maybe you should. It’s okay to talk with her about it. It’s like a support group. Anything you’re feeling, she should be able to relate to. Do me a favor and sit down with her and really talk before you come back on Friday. Can you do that?”

“Yes, Sir.”

“Good, I’ll see you then.”

Megan made her way down the stone pathway to her car and headed home. Why couldn’t she just say what she wanted to? What was she so afraid of? Obviously he liked her. He wanted to see her more. And that was the perfect opportunity for her to tell him. Maybe Greg was right, talking with Dawn might be just what she needed.

Greg had attempted to show her how he felt. He’d prepared a nice meal and asked to see her more often. And she’d just looked scared. He was beginning to think these feelings he had were completely one-sided. That she didn’t feel the same. But when they’d showered and she’d caressed him, he swore he saw pleasure in her eyes at being able to touch him. And man, her hands were so smooth and glided so nicely across his wet skin. Jolts and tingles had shot through his body the whole time she explored him. He’d never experienced anything quite like that before. Sure, any time a woman touched him it felt nice, but this was different. He couldn’t explain it. He just wanted more. A lot more of Megan in each and every way possible.

He didn’t know a lot about cats. He’d never had a pet. But people brought their dogs places, couldn’t she bring the cat? Were dogs and cats that much different? Did she have a valid excuse?

Greg stomped to his office and decided to call Jay. Perhaps he knew something about cats, or even how to find out what Megan was really thinking.

Jay answered after the second ring, but sounded a bit sleepy. “Yeah.”

Shit, what time is it?

“Damn, were you sleeping?” Greg asked.

“I think so. I was watching a movie on the couch and I think I must have dozed off.” There was a pause. “What’s up?”

“This can wait.”

“Greg, it’s eleven o’clock at night, and I’m guessing you didn’t even know what time it was. I don’t think you actually want to wait. So tell me what’s going on.”

He had a point. “Do you know much about cats?”

“You’re kidding me? You called to talk about cats?”

“Well, no, not really, but kinda, yeah.”

“Cats are pretty independent animals. Good for a companion, and if you travel a lot, you can leave them home and they’re fine. They aren’t like dogs where they have to have you for things. Why? You getting a cat?”

“No. But is a cat like a dog where you can just bring it over for a night?”

“Not really. Cats take a while to adjust in new surroundings. And they get kinda cranky and hiss a lot.”

“Damn.” Greg let out a sigh. “I told Megan I wanted to see her more often. Things are so different with her, dude. Not only do I like her, but also her company. And I’m starting to think that I want to try and make a future with her.”

“That’s great. So where the hell does a cat come into play?”

“She has a cat. And I asked if we could extend her time to all weekend, but she said she couldn’t because of the cat. And I’m worried it was just an excuse, especially with what you just told me.”

“Did you ask her if it was an excuse?” Jay asked.

“No, I just sent her home. Told her I would see her Friday.”

“Did you ask her how she felt about more days?”

“No.” Greg raked his hands through his hair. Had he really communicated well? Probably not. Once his feelings were hurt, he sort of just shut down and sent her home. He never really gave her a chance to say anything.

He talked with Jay for a few more minutes, and Jay suggested that he take the time to actually talk to Megan. And perhaps to even do it while in the playroom—where she might feel more comfortable to speak since he was in charge and showing his dominance. And of course, he needed to be honest himself with Megan about what he wanted with her, and if they didn’t see eye to eye, it might be time to end the relationship. The thought of that caused all sorts of aches around his heart.

Greg finished off his glass of wine and headed to bed. He needed to plan just the right scene for Friday and prepare himself to finally tell her how he felt in words and not actions.

Megan closed down her computer and knew she needed to hurry. She was meeting Dawn in an hour at their favorite coffee shop for a late evening snack. Normally the shop was pretty empty at that time, so hopefully they would be able to talk a little. Greg was right, she needed to confide in someone and Dawn was the perfect person for support.

Leaving her office, she found her kitty Callie sitting on the arm of the couch, looking as though she wanted something. Megan picked her up and scratched behind her ears for a minute, then as usual the cat pushed off her chest and jumped to the ground. Callie walked away with her tail twitching. Obviously it was not a nice ear scratch the cat had desired. So Megan followed her to the kitchen and filled her bowl with a layer of fresh food before going to change.

Once she arrived at the little café, she ordered her coffee and muffin and then made her way to the stairway that led downstairs. That was one thing she and Dawn loved about this place. The upstairs was crazy with people coming in and out, but the downstairs was set up with couches and chairs, dim lighting, and low music. Being this time of night and the day it was, she wasn’t at all surprised there was only one other group down there. Dawn sat in a corner, snuggled in a deep chair with a newspaper in her hand.

“Hey,” Megan said as she took a seat across from her.

“Oh, hey. How are you?” Dawn laid the paper in her lap.

“Good actually, I got some writing done today. I just might meet my deadline.”

Dawn smiled. “You always do.”

She was right. Megan always did meet the deadlines. She stressed and got cranky, but when it came down to it, everything was always done in time. This time she owed it all to Greg. Knowing he wanted to see her more had put her in a chipper mood and the last few days the words just poured out her fingers and onto her computer. She had to get another few chapters done, but she was ahead of schedule. Maybe she could even get this one turned in early.

“So tell me what’s going on. You said you wanted to talk about Greg, which thrills me to finally get an insight into what’s going on with you two.”

“He wants to see me more often.”

“That’s great, isn’t it?”

“It’s fantastic. It makes me feel like these feelings I have for him are mutual. That maybe he likes me for more than just his sub.”

“Are you going to see him more? What did you tell him?”

“That’s where I think I sent a mixed signal. I was so shocked at what he was asking me, that when he said he wanted to extend the time I came on Fridays to all weekend, I said I couldn’t because of Callie.”

“Do you want to spend the whole weekend with him?”

“Yes. I love our time in the playroom, but I also love when we eat dinner together or do things like a normal couple. But I’m not my full self with him yet, and I don’t know if I can do that.”

“What do you mean?” Dawn asked.

“Can I joke around with him? Things like that?”

“If your agreement is that outside the playroom you’re free to speak, then why not? He is still your Dom, so you have to respect that, but sure you can flirt and have a good time.”

“We showered together the other day. He let me touch him all I wanted, and I loved it. I want to do that more.” Megan took a sip of her coffee.

“Tell him. You have times where you sit down together and discuss your relationship, right?”

Megan nodded. “All the time.”

Dawn reached out and took Megan’s hand. “Listen to me, he isn’t your ex. He wants to know how you’re feeling. You can tell him. He isn’t going to yell at you and tell you to shut up. He genuinely wants to know. And if he has the feelings for you that you think he has, then he will want to know it all. Be honest. Open up to him. You won’t regret it.”

Squeezing Dawn’s hand, Megan said, “It’s hard, but I know you’re right. I think it’s time to forget John for good and move forward with Greg, if that is how he feels.”

“Then it’s time you two really talked. And I think all the kind things you’ve told me that he’s doing for you, the dinners and so on, he is expressing to you how he feels. A home-cooked meal…I have to tell ya, I’m jealous.”

Megan laughed. “He is an awesome cook.”

Talking to Dawn really did make Megan feel better. Just being able to speak openly about it, and having someone understand, was a huge weight off her shoulders. And she knew her friend was right. Greg wasn’t anything like her ex. It was time she realized that and started to live in the present and not the past.
