Discussion Questions
  • 1) Starr is proud of her parents' success and enjoys the fruits of their labor. But if you were Starr would you want to have your own claim to fame? And would you choose to do something you loved over something that would make you rich? Why?
  • 2) Dionne is still learning to deal with her father's newfound fame and was excited about her own chance to shine as a Go Getta. Do you think she values her father's advice over her mother's? Do you think it was appropriate for her to live in the master bedroom suite of their new house? If you were in her shoes, what would you have done?
  • 3) Fame is not as important to Marisol as her love and passion for dancing. She would dance for a living—even if it meant struggling financially. Is there something you are passionate about, regardless of whether you become famous or not? What steps are you taking—or should you be taking—to have the career of your dreams?
  • 4) Marisol brought cultural diversity to the clique (and
a lot of Latina flare). What do you all think about the addition of Natalee to the clique?
  • 5) Starr truly believed that she was going to sing her way to fame. Her friends didn't have the heart to tell her that she was tone-deaf. If you were Starr, would you want your friends to be honest with you…even if it hurt your feelings?
  • 6) Marisol learned that fame can have a positive side, too, like the charity work her mother does. If you were famous, would you use your celebrity for good to help the less fortunate or would you just enjoy the good life?
  • 7) Natalee was being home-schooled but really felt like she was missing out on the fun of going to school. If you had the opportunity to be home-schooled, would you? What would you miss about school?
  • 8) Starr is pretty strong-willed and usually gets what she wants, when she wants it. Her heart wants Jordan, but her mind tells her that he wants a relationship that's more than she's ready for. Since she is such a strong person, couldn't she just resist temptation? Do you think Starr made the right decision to just remain friends with Jordan?
  • 9) Dionne continues to struggle trying to balance both her worlds, but she finally decided that she likes Hassan.
Should Dionne trust that her friends will accept Hassan or do you understand her hesitation?
  • 10) All three of the girls wanted to form the group and try for fame without their parents' help. If you were one of the Pacesetters with rich and famous parents, would you want their help? Yes? No? And why or why not?
Author's Note

Hello again, everyone,

Two down and more to go in the Pace Academy series. I thank you for purchasing FAMOUS. You've learned a little more about the fabulous Pacesetters clique and the exclusive private school Pace Academy in Saddle River, New Jersey.

I cannot express my gratitude for all the love and support that readers have shown for this series. Thank you for understanding that, like anything else in this world, fiction needs balance. Some books are serious, some books are literary, some magical…and some just plain fun. That's where this series comes in. I just want you to have fun while reading. To dream a little. To be fabulous and famous in your own world. It's possible. Believe me.

The girls learn the high price of fame, and survive it with help from each other. That's what friends do. But there are more lessons to be learned and more fun to be had. In book three, the Pacesetters discover just what it takes to be glamorous and decide if it's really worth it. The drama continues…big-time. LOL.

Stay tuned for more details and be sure to spread the word that the Pacesetters are here!

Best,

Simone

xoxo
