Chapter One

‘So how was your weekend away?’ Ava asked. ‘Do anything interesting?’

Celine sat in the living room with a cold cloth across her forehead. She had the worst headache she’d ever had. It could have been the flights or the amount she’d had to drink while she was at the hotel in London. While she was there she hadn’t seen him until the next morning, he’d simply disappeared. It annoyed her because she craved his presence but then again she couldn’t demand it.

In the morning there was a knock on the door and a tray of
a very healthy breakfast was wheeled through with a note that they would be leaving at ten. It had been frustrating. It was as if he had his use for her and no longer needed her. The worst part was when she got onto the plane, he wasn’t there, instead she would be flying back solo and that was when she dug into the alcohol. Why had she been so mad? She was doing a job but now she just couldn’t deny how much she’d fallen for him.

‘I hate him!’ She pulled of
f the wet towel from her face. ‘I truly hate him!’

Ava sat down and eyed her friend.

‘What?’

‘You do know that you can’t experience hate without love. You can’t hate someone unless you’ve loved them.’

‘What a load of rubbish.’

‘What’s the matter Celine, it’s me. You can tell me.’

Celine pursed her lips together then put the towel back over her eyes but Ava only pulled it off her.

‘Go on tell me.’

Celine tried to sit up but it hurt too much so instead she turned her head towards Ava, her head leaning against the couch.

‘I earned fifteen thousand pounds this weekend.’

‘My god this man is loaded.’

‘Do you want to know why?’

‘Why?’

‘Because I pole danced, shagged a woman and let him shag me tied up. That all for
an astounding fifteen thousand! I feel like a whore.’

‘That’s …’ she was about to say it.

‘Oh yeah that’s right I am a whore. How could I forget.’

‘Don’t be so hard on yourself. At least you had fun right?’

Celine smiled slightly as she remembered the night. It had been fun while it lasted.

‘We did all this while in the air, travelling in one of his private jets.’

‘Oh my, this guy is something. If I were you I’d stick to him like glue.’

‘You can have him if you like
.’ she offered.

‘I don’t think I’m his type.’

Celine looked at her and laughed. ‘What makes you think that?’

‘He never looks at me the way he looks at you. He’s never interested in me the way he’s interested in you.’

‘Oh my god, you observe too much.’

‘It’s true anyway
let’s stick with you.’

‘Yeah anyway we land in
London.’

London?’

‘Yep I was in
London this weekend. Can you believe it?’

‘Man you lead an interesting life.’

‘I’d like to think so but it just got upsetting the minute we landed. I was in the hotel alone, alone at breakfast and alone on the way back.’

‘I’m sorry Celine.’

‘Don’t be, I signed up for this. I’m just there to provide his sexual needs; I can’t demand anything else can I?’

‘I suppose not, so what are you going to do?’

‘I’ve been looking at my bank account and it’s looking pretty good, I was thinking of handing in my notice.’

‘Can you do that, just quit?’

‘Well I should hope so.’

‘Do you really wan
t to quit?’

Celine sat with that question for a while. Quitting would mean never seeing him again. Could she really live with that, but staying would mean that she only got to see him when he wanted to have
sex. Could she live with that?

‘I don’t know.’

‘Why don’t you think about it before you rush into anything?’

‘I don’t know, I don’t know if I can be on this roller coaster of emotions for much longer.’

‘Hmmm. I wish I could offer you something more but I just can’t.’

‘I know but at least you tried.’

They sat in silence only chatting here and there. They would meet up with Harvey later in the week for drinks.

‘You know he’s kinda
pissed off with you.’

‘I don’t understand why.’

‘Why do you think?’

‘Oh man, we’re not going through that again. I mean I don’t like him that way.’

‘You’ve never really given him a chance.’

‘Can we not talk about
this? If he was man enough, he’d tell me already.’ She stood up. ‘I better get to bed, early start tomorrow.’

‘Yep, assignment
week, hope you won’t get any distractions.’

‘Yeah I hope not. Goodnight.’ She headed for her room.

‘Yeah goodnight.’

****

She couldn’t sleep a wink nor the days after that. She walked around feeling like a zombie. For three weeks she heard nothing from him and she couldn’t just contact him, it wasn’t her place. She tried to get on with her life as best she knew how. How could someone come into her life like that and turn her life around. She was angry at him for doing it but more angry at herself for allowing it. Money, was that it? Was that why she did it? It had never been about the money, she would’ve gone with him for free but the offer was too hard to resist and now she felt like a tramp. Used and disposed of. Friday was the usual drinks with friends and even though she tried to join in it was hard to care what everyone was so jolly about. Every moment she checked her mobile for messages, messages that would never come. Harvey would eye her now and then but she gave him none of her attention. It was just an annoyance having to socialise when she didn’t really want to.

Before the night ended Celine decided to call it a night, even though she was in a crowd she felt like the loneliest person in the world.

‘I can take you home if you want?’ Harvey offered.

‘I’ll just get a cab.’

‘I’ll take it with you just to make sure you’re safe.’

She hesitated but he was
adamant that he wanted to make sure she was safe.

‘I better as
k Ava if she wants to come too?’

‘Ava’s drunk she won’t want to leave the party now.’ He didn’t want Ava travelling with them.

‘I’ll still ask her, I’m not going to just leave her.’

‘Yeah sure okay.’ He felt rather peeved. Every time he wanted to be alone with her something would come up.

‘Ava...Ava!’ she shouted over the crowd.

‘What’s up?’

‘I’m going home you coming?’

Ava looked at her watch and snorted. ‘Are you kidding me?’

‘I take it that’s a no then?’

‘A resounding no.’

‘I’ll see you later then.’

She left her t
o it and Harvey and Celine walked out into the busy street. It was pretty cold. She’d worn a golden strapless dress with gold shoes to match. Even though she looked stunning it was biting cold outside.

‘Here put this
around you.’ He handed over his jacket.

‘You don’t have to do that, I’ll live, I’ve done it many times before.’

‘I want to and what kind of gentleman would I be if I let you freeze.’

She smiled as she let him put the jacket around her shoulders. They crossed the busy road from the pub and joined a line of people waiting for cabs. It was busy, there was so much noise and each taxi that came by seemed to have a designated person for it.

‘Looks like we need to ring a cab,’ she said. ‘Ava always sorted out these details.’

‘Do you want me to go and have a look, there’s a taxi over there with no one in.’ He pointed behind them.

Before she could answer he walked over to the cab bent and spoke to the guy. As he negotiated Celine watched the man who had been her friend since they’d started university. He was sweet and kind and had always looked out for her. She smiled as she watched him have the conversation with the driver. Finally all seemed well and he walked back.

‘He’ll charge us double because it’s after midnight,’ he said.

‘That’s fine, I have the money,’ she said.

‘Don’t worry about it I’ll pay.’

She giggled lightly.

‘What
? You think I can’t pay taxi fare?’

‘It’s not that.’

‘Then what is it?’

Let’s just go okay.’ She didn’t want to get into a useless argument with him.

They were silent mos
t of the way to the flat. Harvey paid the cab driver even after she insisted she would, it was her house they were at but he wasn’t having any of it.

‘Thanks for everything
Harvey.’ She opened the door.

‘Do you mind if I come in. I need to talk to you.’

Those words again, she just couldn’t deal with them at that moment but she nodded and allowed him in. They headed for the kitchen and she made them each a cup of coffee. He sat cradling the coffee; she wished he would just spit it out. One of the things that annoyed her about him was she had to drag the conversation out of him.

‘What did you want to talk about
Harvey, it’s almost one o’clock.’ She yawned.

He drew his hand over the table and placed it over hers. At first thought she wanted to withdraw but found it very comforting. She’d obsessed the whole night over Rhyland, this was a welcomed feeling. He began to rub her hand gently, her eyes moved over their hands and soon she
replicated the gesture. He shifted his chair forward, their eyes locked and it was then that she just thought
Sod it!
leaned forward and gave him her lips.

They kissed passionately, taking only a few breaths in between. Without warning he lifted her into his arms and carried her upstairs to her bedroom.

‘Is this what you wanted to talk about Harvey?’ She felt a little giddy, the bit of alcohol had spiked her sex drive.

There was no
response; instead he began to devour her. He lifted her dress and pulled down the panties. She opened up for him expertly. At first he hesitated, Rhyland’s face came to his mind, but quickly he got over it and his hands began to venture around her thighs and upper body.

‘Let me.’ She helped him pull off the dress. ‘Get out of those clothes.’ She whispered to him.

He kissed her for a moment and then withdrew. Took off his shirt and pulled down the jeans together with the underpants. He stood rock hard and ready.

‘Oh what a big boy you are.’ She laughed. She was actually enjoying this. ‘Come her
e and show me what you can do.’

He held onto his cock, he gazed at her. He directed it directly into her pussy. He was so desperate as if he’d been waiting for this for a very long time.

‘Oh my, my!’ she squirmed as he took her.

He was fast and panted deeply, it was as if he’d been so starved and finally food had been served.

‘Ahhhh, yes, ahhahaha!’ He made deep hard thrusts. ‘Oh god yes!’ He thrust in harder and faster until he was no more.

It was fast and it was soon over. She rolled over to the side and wondered what had just happened.
Harvey rolled into her putting his arm around her and suddenly falling into a deep sleep. She shut her eyes with deep regret; she shouldn’t have let him in. Now she’d have to deal with the consequences.

****

She opened her eyes and noticed arms wrapped around her waist. She panicked as she turned around and her heart slowed down once she saw Harvey on the opposite side. But quickly her heart rate increased again. That wasn’t supposed to happen and it wasn’t much fun either. The hole she’d tried to cover up by sleeping with Harvey only got deeper. It was as if sleeping with him had just magnified her need for Rhyland. She moved gently trying to free herself from his arms. It wasn’t that successful, as soon as his hand landed on the mattress his eyes opened.

‘Hi,’ he said.

‘Harvey- ’

‘Don’t say it.’

‘No I have to, this was a mistake.’

‘It wasn’t for me, please don’t say that.’

She tried to smile at him but it was true, she just didn’t feel that way for him.

‘I’m sorry I just –’

Just then her mobile phone buzzed.

‘Just one second.’

She reached for the phone on the bedside and read the message.

Open the door, I’m outside.

It didn’t register what, who…aaah it was Rhyland, what did he mean he was outside.

??

I’m outside your front door.

She slipped out of bed and reached for her gown.

‘Where are you going?’

‘Downstairs, I suggest you get dressed and get going.’
