“Oh Cameryn,” he breathed.

Her mouth was warm and soft. He felt his blood grow hot as she made loud sucking noises as she pleasured him. He couldn’t resist thrusting himself deeper into her sweet, sucking mouth. This was pleasure. This was an ecstasy he’d never known before. He’d do anything to never have to give this up. His hands tangled in her silky, dark hair holding her close. He could feel the pleasure building. If she kept going, he was going to erupt. How he wanted to explode in her perfect little mouth. Regretfully, he pulled out.

She looked up at him in confusion. Before she said anything, he pushed her down onto the bed. He quickly covered her body with his own. He sank into her with one long thrust. She was tight
, so tight that he didn’t understand how this wasn’t painful for her. Cameryn moaned against his throat, wrapping her legs around his waist and holding him close. He thrust into her in and out. In and out.
For the love of Olympus.
He didn’t know how much more he could take of her slippery, warm wetness. Hades increased his tempo plunging into her faster and faster. Cameryn dug her nails into his back as she cried out in pleasure. Her walls clamped around him, squeezing him tighter and tighter. He exploded, shooting his seed deep inside her womb. His cock felt like it would never stop jerking and sputtering inside her.

When his body finally calmed, he rolled to his side with Cameryn still wrapped around him. Her head burrowed into his chest
, and he held her tightly against him. He lovingly kissed her forehead. Cameryn Elizabeth Kane was an amazing woman. She’d soothed his tortured soul with her selfless giving. She was a woman of worth, and he wanted her for all of eternity. He had no idea what the morrow would hold, but for this moment in time, he was the happiest he’d ever been, and nothing could take that away.

Chapter
Eight

Cameryn awoke feeling warm and more relaxed than she’d ever been. Strong arms held her close. She opened her eyes, and the events of last night came rushing back to her. She’d picked up a man at a bar and gone to bed with him. She looked up at said man who was still asleep in her bed, holding her close. He was handsome. Movie star handsome. Come to think of it he looked a lot like Don Diamont from
The Bold and The Beautiful
. She couldn’t help herself as she stared at him. This was a sight she could get used to seeing every morning, but she knew she was only fooling herself. They’d had a one night stand, and that was where it had to end.

Going to bed with a complete stranger was out of character for her. Last night had been a onetime deal borne of grief and frustration. She’d needed comfort
, and he’d provided it for her, but they wouldn’t be making love again. In just the short time that she’d known him, Cameryn could readily admit to herself that she liked him. He seemed to be considerate and easy-going, not to mention an amazing lover. If she wasn’t so screwed up mentally with the death of her sister and the other hang-ups she had about love, then maybe they could’ve had a chance. But now was not the time. It looked like the cycle of longing for love, but being afraid to look for it was going to continue.

Before she’d fallen asleep last night Cameryn had prayed that she’d wake up and discover that losing Deena had just been a horrible nightmare, but it wasn’t. Deena was dead
, and she was never coming back. Cameryn couldn’t fight the tears that flooded her

eyes.
Heart-wrenching sobs tore from her throat as she gave in to despair. She didn’t care if she woke her lover with her cries of distress. It would be easier to get rid of him if he thought she was some crazy, emotional wreck. She was startled when a gentle kiss touched her forehead.

“What’s wrong
, sweetheart? Tell me.”

Cameryn couldn’t speak as the sobs continued to rock her body. Nothing could express the grief she felt. All she could do was cry. She expected him to get up and leave her alone. Instead, he held her close, placing soft kisses on her face and stroking her hair. Why was he being so sweet? She shifted in his arms to look up at him. He smiled at her, tenderly wiping the tears from her face. His gentleness was tugging at her heartstrings. Uncertainly, her lips touched his. As his lips moved beneath her own, her kiss became desperate. Her hands clutched his face, kissing him hard as tears continued to fall down her cheeks.

She didn’t protest as he rolled their bodies until she was beneath him. Even then, she didn’t release him as they kissed passionately. He entered her in one smooth slide, and her body cried out for his. Her legs wrapped around him, clutching him desperately. He surged into her over and over again. Cameryn’s hands slid to his massive shoulders holding onto him with all of her might. She cried out with pleasure as his lips slid to her neck, sucking on a spot just below her ear.

“H,” she cried out as his body entered hers once again.

She could feel her pleasure coming closer and closer. She swiveled her hips as he dove into her again. Her world came apart. The pleasure shocked her body, making her shout with need. When H groaned into her neck, she knew he’d found his own release. He kissed her lips briefly and rolled from atop her, while still holding her close. Her head settled onto his chest
, and soon she was asleep.

Hades couldn’t believe how hot his passion was for her. He should be ashamed of himself for even touching her when she was beside herself with grief. But for some reason, he’d known that making love would be the best way to comfort her. She’d responded to him just as eagerly as she had last night. In fact, desperation had made her passion even more electric. As he’d lost himself again in the fountain of ecstasy that was Cameryn, it had been hard to keep the tears from his own eyes. She was everything he’d ever wanted
, and the passion between them had to be making Eros proud. He wanted her. He wanted her badly. Even eternity with her wouldn’t be enough. He clutched her to him in fear. He couldn’t lose her. The thought was unbearable. Even if he had to swallow his pride and seek out Aphrodite’s blessing on his relationship with Cameryn, he was willing to submit himself before the troublesome goddess. Nothing meant more to him than winning Cameryn’s love.

As she slept nestled against him so trustingly, his fingers made lazy circles across her back. She was so beautiful. That mocha brown skin and those arresting silver eyes. She’d been made to be his bride
, to rule by his side for all eternity. He knew she’d be emotional when she woke again. Between the pain of losing her sister and all of her inhibitions in bed with him, she was liable to be in rare form when she awoke. He smiled to himself. He’d handle it, and one way or another he’d convince her that she belonged with him. In the meantime, he was content to watch her sleep.

When Cameryn awakened again, sunlight was streaming onto her face. A pair of masculine arms were wrapped around her tight. H. She shifted and felt the soreness between her legs. The ache was a reminder of how he’d taken her and made love to her as she cried. He’d comforted her and made her feel like no other man ever had. He really was amazing. It was too bad that there couldn’t be anything more between them. Last night had been incredible; so had this morning. She wouldn’t forget the way he’d made her feel
, but she had to put an end to this. She was an emotional mess. Deena’s death had turned her world upside down. She had no idea how she was going to be able to keep moving, much less support her family. She’d failed at that already.

Besides, no matter how much she liked H, she was still too afraid to get involved with anyone. The fear of having her heart broken again was almost paralyzing. She longed for someone to love her
, for someone to be there. But she was too afraid to take

the next step. Besides, what man was really going to stick around when he discovered she could communicate with the dead? It was better for her to end whatever was going on with her and H before either of them got hurt. She moved out of his arms and sat up. His eyes flew open seeking hers. There was a bemused smile on his face.

“Good morning, beautiful,” he said lazily.

“I think we should talk,” she said cutting right to the chase.

“Okay. I’m all ears.”

“What happened between us was extraordinary. You made me feel like I was special
, and I will always treasure that.”

“But?” H asked prodding.

“I’m a mess right now. My sister was killed in an accident yesterday. That’s why I was at the bar last night. It’s also why I brought you home with me. I wanted to forget about my pain.”

“I can sense your heartache. I would never want to do anything to add to it.”

“You’re not. You’ve been so sweet. Any other guy would’ve probably run away as fast as he could if he woke up next to a hysterical female.”

“I’m not like most guys
. What is it, Cameryn? Tell me.”

“I think it’s best if we don’t see each other again.”

“I see.”

“I’m not trying to hurt you. It’s just I have a lot to deal with right now
, and I can’t devote myself to a relationship. I’m sorry.”

H looked at her with sadness in his eyes. She could see that she’d hurt him. Now she was feeling like a real bitch. She could be letting a really good man slip away because of her issues. Cameryn felt her breath catch in her throat as his jaw tense
, and he looked at her with an unreadable expression on his face.

“What if I want a relationship with you?” he asked quietly.

“I can’t, H.”

“If you weren’t grieving for your sister would you consider giving us a chance?”

“I’m not sure,” she said honestly.

“You’d give anything to have your sister back
, wouldn’t you?”

“Of course I would. Anything. But death is final,” Cameryn said climbing out bed and grabbing her robe.

“No, it isn’t. You can have your sister back.”

“Are you out of your mind? Deena’s dead, and nothing can bring her back,” Cameryn said as tears started rolling down her face.

“I can.”

“You can’t. Nobody can. Just go … please.”

“Not until you listen to me,” he said getting out of bed and walking over to her.

Cameryn tried to ignore his nakedness as he stood in front of her.

“I know this is going to be hard for you to believe, but I’m not really human. I’m Hades, the Lord of the Underworld
, and I can give you back your sister,” he said softly touching her face.

Cameryn laughed. A deep bellyaching laugh. He was out of his mind. Trust her to pick up a crazy one night stand.
What a waste.

“Listen
, H, or whoever the hell you are, I’m not sure if you bumped your head or something, but clearly you have some mental issues. I really think you should go now.”

“Cameryn
, I can assure you that I’m in complete control of my mental faculties, and I’m more than willing to prove it you,” he said smiling.

“Go ahead. Knock yourself out,” Cameryn said now fully convinced her dream lover was certifiable.

She crossed her arms and watched as he closed his eyes. He seemed to be concentrating hard. Cameryn couldn’t stop the gasp that came from her throat as she watched his naked body become magically swathed in black robes. She blinked rapidly, just to make sure she wasn’t imagining things.
Nope.
He was still standing in front of her wearing dark black robes. She started to shake when she saw a bright blue light surround him. When he opened his eyes and stared at her, she could see flames dancing in his eyes.

“Okay. You’re a magician, but you’re going to have to do better than that,” Cameryn said brazenly refusing to believe what she was seeing.

“Very well,” he said in a voice that now boomed.

Since when had his voice boomed?
Cameryn screamed as he disappeared right before her eyes. When he reappeared in front of her a moment later, black clouds swirled around him. What had she gotten herself into?

“What are you?”

“I’m Hades, God of the Underworld.”

“You mean as in Greek god Hades? No. That stuff is only a bunch of myths.”

“And yet I stand before you now. You of all people should know that everything is not as it always appears, Cameryn.”

“What are you talking about?”

“You can talk to the dead. You find their spirits that cry out for rest.”

“How do you know about that?”

“I know a lot about you. I’ve been watching you since the day you were born,” he said staring at her intently.

“What do you want?”

“A chance.”

“A chance for what?”

“To woo you. Come to the Underworld with me.”

“Huh?” Cameryn asked too dumbfounded to believe what she was hearing.

“Come to the Underworld with me. Give me six months to show you that I can love you the way that you deserve. I want to make you immortal and have you rule at my side as my wife and queen for all eternity.”

It took everything in Cameryn not to run out of her bedroom screaming. He wanted her to be his wife! To be his queen! She had to be hallucinating. Maybe he’d drugged her last night when she wasn’t paying attention. But wait a minute
. If she remembered her Greek mythology right didn’t he already have a wife?

“And what does your wife think about this? I’m sure she wouldn’t be pleased that you’re trolling for human women and I have no desire to be struck down by an angry goddess.”

“I have no wife,” he said shortly.

“Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t you kidnap some goddess and force her to be your wife or something?”

“That part of the myth was incorrect,” Hades said with flames dancing behind his eyes.

Uh oh.
It looked like she’d made him angry. If he really was a god then she was about to be vaporized. Perhaps she’d better leave the subject of his marital status well enough alone.

“If I agree to this, what happens at the end of six months?”

“Your sister will be returned to life, regardless of whether or not you decide to remain with me in the Underworld. It is my sincerest wish that during our time together you will come to love me as I already love you.”

“And if I stay with you, I’ll become immortal?”

“Yes. You will never grow old. You will never die. You will be eternally beautiful.”

“This is a lot to process. I don’t know what to say,” Cameryn said plopping down on her bed.

“I don’t expect you to make a decision right now. I’m a patient man. Take as much time as you need,” he said starting to fade away.

“Wait. How do I reach you?”

“Just call for me, and I will come. Farewell, beloved,” he said caressing her face.

Cameryn flinched a little at his touch. He gave her a sad smile before disappearing completely. When he was gone, she let out a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding. A god. She’d slept with a god! Why couldn’t she just have picked up some random guy like any normal woman? Was it too much to ask for a little normalcy in her already screwed up and chaotic life? Apparently so. She’d caught the attention of a god who was older than she could even begin to fathom
, and he wanted her to be his wife. She didn’t even want to contemplate what could possibly happen if she turned him down.
