Tears were spilling down my face as he spoke.

“I want to figure out the rest of it with you and our child, or even children, if you will allow me. Will you marry me?” He held out a diamond ring. It was perfect, and so was everything that he had said.

I smashed into him, wrapping my arms around him and kissing him uncontrollably. “I love you Osric! Yes, I will marry you!” I said—meaning every word.

Epilogue

May 2014

I stood on the back porch watching Osric teach our son how to hammer a nail into a piece of wood as my dad helped.

“Careful now Max,” my dad called.

Max hit the nail and it went in on the first shot. “I did it Mommy!” he yelled. His blond hair blew in the wind as he smiled at me.

“Good job!” I shot a thumbs up to him. He mirrored my action back to me.

My mom and I laughed as she brought out the fixings for our hamburgers. “Boys, let’s eat!” She walked over to the picnic table Osric had built me for our anniversary. Osric stood and Max jumped over to my dad to be picked up. I stayed on the porch watching my family.

Osric walked up to the porch and rubbed my bulging belly. “Is she ready to join us yet?” he asked kissing me.

“We will have to wait and see,” I replied leaning into him.

“Come eat your
hambooger
Daddy,” Max yelled.

We both laughed as my mother tried to correct him.

“Thank you,” Osric whispered in my ear.

I turned to face him confused. “For what?” I asked.

“For giving me a family.”

I swept the hair from his eyes. He took me by the hand and we walked over to join our family.

For my best friend, Micah.

Without you this book would not have happened.

Thank you for believing in me.

I love you.
