“Lillian, you can’t get so caught up in all of this stuff. If you stare too long you will get so captivated that you will stare until the sun comes up. I have seen it many times. The only thing that you need to focus on is the hunger that is building inside of you. I can sense it, Lillian look at me.”

“Brandon, everything is alive! I can hear the entire world talking to me! I can’t ignore them!”

“Lillian you have too. Look at me. Time for you to feed and after you feed we can go back to the club. Just wait until you hear the music!”

“What is the smell? It smells like...”

“That is blood, my sweet. On nights like this people come out here on every full moon. They think that they summon demons and crap like that. They never do, but they do get us! You and I will feed and then you will meet the others when we go back to the club.”

“There are others?”

“Of course! Millions actually, but they are all scattered around the world. Now listen to the sounds you hear. Focus on a heartbeat. Good, now try to find where the noise is coming from. Find the person and imagine that you are in front of them.”

Lillian closed her eyes and did what Brandon told her to do. She followed the sound with her immortal hearing. She opened her eyes and was now just feet away from a young male. His clothes were dirty and he was shivering. Lillian listened harder and was able to read his thoughts. He ran away from home because he was tired of his father beating him all the time. Lillian saw his thoughts in her head as if they were her memories. She actually felt sorry for this kid and didn’t want to drain him, but her hunger took control and now looked at him now like he was prey. She was able to see his heart pumping throughout his body and her fangs began to descend. Brandon smiled at her and she knew what she had to do. She had to find the jugular vein in his neck, and drain him to the point of death. She knew not to drink the last drop.  As these thoughts passed through her head Brandon nodded his head in agreement.

Lillian walked up to the young man and startled him. He looked up at her with his tears still streaming from his eyes.

“There is no need to cry, you will forget it all soon enough.”

“Who, who are you? Are you an angel?”

“My name is Lillian, and if you want me to be your angel I will.”

“I just want it all to stop. I can’t handle all this anymore.”

Lillian looked at him and smiled, showing her fangs and wrapped her arms around her victim. The young man turned his head to the side and Lillian was able to see the vein. She kissed him on the spot and sunk her fangs into the vein.

His blood was pumping hard and fast into her mouth and she gulped it down. With every beat of his heart she drank his life’s blood away. All of his past came flooding into her just as Brandon’s had only an hour before. This poor soul had lived a life of pure torture and Lillian was actually doing this mortal a favor by ending his pathetic existence. Something about his suffering made his blood taste like candy to her, it was so sweet. Her victim began to slip into unconsciousness and go limp in her arms. Lillian became greedy, like she was a starving animal, and began to drink even heavier. His heart slowed down and Lillian continued to drink. Brandon walked up to her and whispered into her ear that she must stop, that she could not drink the last drop or else she may follow him into death.

Lillian was so lost that Brandon’s voice fell on deaf ears. Brandon knew that she was lost in the blood and had to stop her. He yanked her away and her teeth ended up making a large gash in her victim’s neck.

“What the hell did you do that for?”

“You almost drained him dry you idiot!  Did you not hear what I told you?”

“I am not an idiot. This all new to me so don’t yell at me or call me names!”

“You are right, I am sorry Lillian. Come on, we need to dig a grave and bury him. We always do this. This way he is never found and people don’t get any odd ideas. The last thing we want is to let the mortal world know that we actually exist. Come on so we can get back to the club.”

Brandon grabbed the body and they started to walk towards the back of the cemetery. He dropped the corpse to the ground and they both began to dig a hole. Lillian was surprised at how fast the grave was dug. She knew that if they were mortals this task would have taken over seven hours to do by hand, but it took only minutes. The grave was dug; the body tossed inside and was filled back up with the dirt. Lillian and Brandon both shook the dirt off of their hands and walked back towards the club. Lillian looked back up at the moon and could still not believe how beautiful it was. Brandon looked at his new fledgling and he was confident that he had chosen a companion wisely. Lillian had a hunger for blood that matched his own, and granted she is a bit greedy, but in time she will learn when to stop. As the blood put color in her cheeks, she once again looked as if she was once again mortal, and she was very beautiful. Lillian looked over at Brandon and smiled. He smiled at her in return and pulled her close to him and they kissed their first immortal kiss.

They walked hand in hand back to the club, and just like Brandon said, the music was intense. Lillian felt the bass and every note that oozed from the speakers attached to walls. The DJ looked so beautiful and the ear ring in his lip reminded her of a diamond. Everywhere she looked, she saw beauty and Brandon just laughed as he remembered the way he acted when he was born into immortality. He watched as she grabbed strange guys and either touched their hair or their flesh. Brandon finally grabbed her hand and made her follow him up a flight of stairs to the second floor of the club.

When they reached the top, Lillian saw red velvet couches and lounge chairs all over, and sitting in them were the most beautiful people she had ever seen, even more beautiful than the ones down stairs! She looked at each one for seemed like hours on end. Brandon started laughing and told her that they were the friends that he was telling her about. She had never seen anyone so beautiful in her life and she walked up to each one and touched their faces just to make sure they were real. Each face she touched was as cold as ice and as hard as marble. If they didn’t smile or blink their eyes, you would think they were statues. There six of them, not including herself and Brandon. Three beautiful young men, two with brown hair and one with blonde and the other three were females who all had brown hair and green eyes. Lillian noticed the females all had a striking resemblance and figured they were sisters. When that thought passed through her head one of the females spoke up and said they were triplets. The two males with the brow hair laughed in unison and Lillian realized that they were twins! She walked over to the corner where the blonde male sat and reached out to touch his face when he grabbed her arm and hissed at her. She recoiled in fear and looked over at Brandon who was immediately at her side.

“Lillian, this is Corbin. He is what most would call the leader of the vampires in this district. He is also the oldest and most feared of our kind. He was born into darkness when Christ walked the earth. His maker was so insane and when he brought him over, he threw himself into the sun. So understand that he is very harsh and doesn’t like to be touched by new bees.”

Lillian dropped her eyes to floor and took a step back as Corbin laughed. She was comforted by Brandon and he began to introduce her to the others. The triplets were named Annabelle, Angelic, and Alicia. The only way they could be told apart was when they wore different clothes.  And if you paid attention to their noses, there were slight differences, but they were identical. The male twin’s names were Damien and Dagan. They were easier to tell apart.  One had blue eyes and the other had green. Then there was Corbin. He had blonde hair, sapphire blue eyes and a cold stern look on his face. Lillian knew that this creature had power, and she knew not to approach him again. Corbin looked at her with amusement and smiled. His smile was even colder than his skin.

“You can approach me child, just never touch me without permission. It is very rude and honesty I can’t stand to be around fledglings. If I want to be touched or embraced, I will draw you to me. Never speak to me unless spoken too and if ever a bad thought about me passes through that little mind of yours, I will hear it. As soon as the foul words are a memory, I will crush your head into a bloody pulp! I have done it before to Brandon’s newborns and I will do it again. Brandon, get her out of my site. You and I will talk about this little incident later, now go!”

Brandon grabbed Lillian by her arm and dragged her back downstairs. They were in the middle of the dance floor when Lillian jerked her arm and asked him what was it that she did that was so wrong.

“He is the oldest of our kind and you just touched him! I mean really, when you were mortal did you touch every random guy you thought was beautiful? No I didn’t think so. You are damn lucky that he didn’t destroy you then and there!”

“Well you should have stopped me in the first place! You saw me touching everyone, why didn’t you stop me then? For someone who said they would teach me what I need to know you are doing a horrible job!”

“Look here, I thought you had common sense! Seems you are lacking that. You just can’t go around doing those things Lillian. I know I should have stopped you but the look in your eyes was so intense that I was lost for a second. Let’s go to my crypt and rest. Tomorrow night I will answer any and all questions you may have and teach you every tiny detail I have learned over the centuries of being a vampire.”

Brandon wrapped his around Lillian and they kissed one more time. Lillian knew that she could never stay angry at him; after all, he created her and gave this gift to her. Brandon took her hand and they walked out of the club to the cemetery once again. They stood in front of a mausoleum that had the name “Nichols” on the door. Brandon opened up the iron door with ease and they walked inside. As promised the set up was pretty cool. There was a large flat screen TV, video game consoles, games and movies by the thousands as well as a radio. Brandon led her to a very large four post bed that had thick velvet curtains to keep the light out.

‘What did you expect, a coffin?”  Brandon asked as he climbed into the bed. Lillian smiled at him and shook her head and was curled up against him. She looked at him and said “I didn’t know what to expect, you are full of surprises.”

As the sun began to rise, Lillian’s eyes became heavy and soon she was sleeping the sleep of the immortals.

Lillian woke up and she was alone in the bed. Her limbs were so stiff they reminded her of petrified wood and she almost panicked due the fact they were hard to move.  She heard Brandon’s familiar voice telling her that this was normal and it wouldn’t last that long. She relaxed just a bit, and soon she was able to move just like a cat. She stretched out on the bed, and the feel of the velvet bedspread sent shivers through her spine. She giggled like a little girl and Brandon laughed right along with her. This was one of his favorite things, watching his new fledglings become accustomed to immortality. Lillian rolled around on the bed like a child until Brandon finally began to speak.

“Lillian, like I said it is very easy to get lost in such things. You have to try your best to stay focused. If you mess up for one second you are as good as dead. Come on, look in that closet and pick out some fresh clothes. Then we will feed and go back to the club. Tonight you get to spend time with the triplets. They will teach you how to hypnotize people. That is their specialty. See we all have powers, but there is one that we posse that out shines them all. You have to find yours. Don’t worry, they are very nice and they know better than to be rude. Plus I think Corbin kind of likes you; I mean he didn’t crush your skull like he did with my last fledgling so that says something. Get dressed Love, the night is young but you have so much to learn.”

Lillian ran to the closet and was amazed at the selection. She decided on a pair of jeans and a black long sleeved shirt, her boots and a hoodie. She was now immortal and the weather didn’t affect her, but she knew that she had to keep up appearances for the mortals. Brandon had changed before she awoke and he was wearing something very similar to what she had chosen as well. On instinct she was going to ask for a brush but she realized that her longhair was tangle free and even more luxurious than ever. She looked at her skin, and it was pale almost luminescent. Her fingernails looked like they were made of glass and they were longer than she remembered them. She had to shake it off because she knew that she would get lost in her transformation, and the last thing she wanted was to hear Brandon yelling at her again. She went into a dressing room and changed her clothes. It felt good to wear the fresh garments and the way they felt on her skin was nothing shy of amazing. She went back into the main room where Brandon was waiting for her. He nodded his head in approval and they left his crypt hand in hand.

They walked into the cemetery and all of sudden Lillian smelt her prey. She was amazed that she smelt them before Brandon did. She gripped his hand tightly and brought her finger to her lips. The look on his face was a mixture of shock and amazement. He closed his eyes and zoned in on where the mortals were gathered and when he opened them he saw Lillian was already on her way in that direction. He caught up with her and grabbed her arm.
