(Atlanta, Georgia, b. 1969). An assistant professor of English at Kennesaw State University, he has published both poems and translations

from Latin in periodicals. He has also published essays on the painter Fair-

Mary Jane White
(Charlotte, North Carolina, b. 1953). She is a poet and translator who practices law at her home in Waukon, Iowa. Her fi rst book,

Starry Sky to Starry Sky
(1988), contains her translation of Marina Tsvetaeva’s long, lyric cycle “Miles.”

Richard Wilbur
(New York, New York, b. 1921). Former poet laureate (1987–

88), he is America’s leading translator of plays by Molière, Racine, and Cor-

neille, employing brilliant rhymes. His

William Carlos Williams
(Rutherford, New Jersey, 1883–1963). Known as

an imagist poet, he also practiced medicine in Rutherford from 1910 to 1951.
