Chapter 13: Waking up in Your Arms Is Heaven Sent

“I
protected your brother with a spell, he will capture the Lycan so you may feed from him, there is no need to fear. It is the only way, Your Highness.”

She had soft hands gently helping me back to the bed. I knew she was a witch, yet she’d seemed different from the ones I killed yesterday. I saw sympathy in her eyes as she hurriedly tried to help me up to the bed. She was choosing to help me... so I put my worries to rest, for a later time when I felt stronger. She confirmed it was my brother who went in search of the beast. Then, I realized how in danger I was if I continued to drink from the Lycan.

“No… please, he can’t. Find another way. There must be something else I can drink.”

“No we tried several things, if you continue to die, there will be a time when your body will levitate and leave us until it is healed. Your brother is not willing to lose you, after already losing you all these years.” She said gently covering me with the sheets.

“You don’t understand,” ashamed I said, “every time I drink from the beast I feel closer to him.”

“I will help you by teaching you how to remain disconnected when drinking from him. I promise, but you must drink if we are to keep you here with us.”

“Please, try to find another way.” I begged, unwilling to attach myself further to the Lycan.

“Your brother will never stop searching.” She replied.

“Is he truly my brother?”

“Yes my dear, he is.” She said gently wiping my face with a damp cloth- leaving the smell of herbs on my skin.

“Who bathed me?”

“I did, Your Highness.”

“You are not strong enough, who bathed me? Was it my brother?”

“Your brother carried you to and from, but you were covered both times. And I can assure you my magic is strong enough, but there was no keeping your brother from you. I’m afraid he believes that when he closes his eyes you will be gone. He’s lost so much.”

“I understand. Is there anything I can wear? I do not wish to be undressed when he arrives.”

“Your skin was in very poor condition, but the herbs and magic I used has helped. I had to keep you unclothed, but you are much better. How’s this?” She momentarily closed her eyes and slowly a silk robe began to weave its design covering my body. When she was done, I was wearing a tight fitting sapphire silk robe with an oval neckline, held together by silver buttons along the front. Trimming the neckline spade shaped diamonds with almond shaped amethyst lay intricately incrusted.

“No, I can’t wear this, please… something less elaborate and more covered.” The outline of my breasts was enhanced by the soft fabric, and the buttons were left undone at the bottom- barely covering my thighs.

“Your Highness, this is fit for a queen, the fashions you are expected to wear and only this will do.”

Just as I was about to argue, my brother burst through the heavy wooden doors with the Lycan close behind him. He was repeating a warning to him, “Remember if you try to take her from us, my sister will cause you unbearable pain, so much you’ll wish…,” He was unable to finish because Ly looked enraged when his eyes found mine.

Silver menacing eyes found me, looked threateningly at the plunging neckline which scarcely covered my breasts, and I knew it was over for us all.

“Ly, don’t… come…” I couldn’t finish the sentence.

Before I could try to move away, the Lycan was on me, gripping my hips and flipping me in one swift move, roughly placing me on my knees, he bent above me while lifting the robe over my back as I pathetically struggled against him. “No… please,” I cried more afraid for his safety than mine. “He can’t bite me.” Then… I felt the Lycan’s hands against my hips, pressing the lace fabric that thankfully covered me. At his touch… unpredictably everything calmed within me… the universe had spoken and we were whole- satisfied in its simplicity.

“Why?” He begged, “Why did you leave me? I wouldn’t rush you… you could have had your precious freedom with me.”

My brother’s bellow shattered my trance, “No, sister do something… he won’t force himself on her.” He lunged himself at him... pushing me away from the beast. They struggled over me on the bed, we all became entwined with the other… but so suddenly they both flew, being held high against the wall while they struggled to free themselves.

Finding my limbs free, I tried to run away, not understanding… instead fearing what just happened between Ly and I, and fell to the floor too weak to sustain myself. My robe lifted around my thighs as I struggled towards the bedroom door.

My brother yelled. “Allessa do something she can’t continue to use the only strength she has left to fight him. She is scarcely still with us. Unhand me this instant. I will try feeding her my blood… this time I’ll make sure it works.”

“No,” I mumbled. “No more dragon’s blood.”

“He’s already fed it to you. Nothing happened.” Allessa softly said.

At that, Luke went crazy looking possessed, I heard him as he let loose and completely started shifting into his Lycan form for the very first time in front of me. I looked up, I had to… just hearing his anguished shift wouldn’t be enough… I was never scared of anything anymore, but he terrified me. He looked just like the beast that jumped out of the van the night Eros found me, only this beast was fully turned- looking so much worse.

His skin turned black all over with black hair falling to his shoulders, silver eyes shining, and his claws looked the same as the rest of him. Everything was dark as night, but his bone structure was terrifying, so much more pronounced. Everything about his features screamed animal strength… a wide nose with raised cheekbones and a solid wide jaw looked- brutal and savage. Almost like his face had its own protective armor, because every feature was thicker- impenetrable. His body was a force of nature causing panic from just being in his presence- he was enormous probably nine feet tall. How does one survive when faced with a natural disaster? This is what he was.

He climbed the wall, digging into the stones with his long claws, until he was over me against the ceiling.

I turned refusing to look at him, wishing not to be reminded of Eros and the night he found me a little over two weeks ago. I remembered how for the first time, I’d been willing to give myself to that monster, no longer pretending like I had during my captivity. During that time my sole purpose was to survive and escape just to make it back to Darius and warn him of Eros’s plans to have me kill him. I was irrational because I saw Ly now, and I feared Eros somehow saw me.

“This animal will only succeed in killing her with his need to take her. I must kill him. He would have taken her now, weak as she is, killing her in front of us.”

“No…” I uttered as I felt my life slipping and a white-blue light started covering my body.

“Allessa we’re losing her. Do something now, sister! I can’t lose her she means everything.”

Frantic my sister quickly spoke. “Lycan, she will soon be gone from us all. She found us, so I don’t know where she’s going, but most likely back to whatever it was she ran from, to him- the traitor, so you must help us keep her here.” She said, getting the Lycan’s attention while his struggles to free himself continued; though, minutely lessened.

“I promise you she will be yours, but calm yourself, or she will be none of ours.”

“Never, Allessa… do you understand me. I am your King, and I forbid it, I will never give her to him!”

“Do you rather lose her to the traitor Dracos, who stole her from us, meant to keep her forever by force? Trust me brother!”

“I promise you Lycan, or I’ll die a terrible death, she is yours… there is nothing no one can do to change it. It is destined.” My sister admitted.

“Leave us! I will not have your eyes watching us.” He roared brutally through his fangs.

“Yes, but not without giving her some protection against you. I do not believe you so much better than them. You will not force her!” She yelled.

She closed her eyes, began humming, speaking in what sounded like an ancient tongue, and I heard him struggling against whatever it was she did to him. “My Queen, my sister… you must listen. He will feed you his blood and you must take it. You can control him through your spoken words. The spell I have placed on him will force your will on him. Just say what it is you want him to do. If he does not listen he will feel excruciating pain, but first he must assent to it. It is not a simple spell to take someone’s will from them.

“DO you agree to this, Lycan?”

“If I agree, she will be mine! And you will not use this power over me to unleash punishment or kill me.” He demanded.

“No we will not do you harm. Yes… she is your destiny, and you will be hers, Undoubtedly.” She answered, desperate for him to agree.

“I consent!” Upon saying the words his body constricted and he howled in pain.

The blue light I felt and saw faded when my worries for him intensified, almost like I wouldn’t be at rest if he was in pain. I screamed, “Luke, no.”

My eyes pleaded with my sister. “Please stop hurting him.” I cried.

“It will pass soon enough, sister. It is the magic working itself over his willpower.”

“Brother, follow me if you please. We must give them some privacy until she has recovered.” She looked at my brother with concern in her eyes over my reactions to Ly’s pain. I’d seen her shock.

“I will not leave her with this savage. I rather cut off my own head. “She,” he said pointing at me, “is clearly… not in her right mind.” He spat.

“You must, and you will, or I shall force you to, with all due respect My King. I can guarantee, you do not want to witness what is to come. Besides with all that has transpired here tonight, there is much to talk about. I assure you brother, all is not lost.”

With concern dripping into every word, she said, “My Queen, when you drink… see it for what it is and nothing more, he is just a source of sustenance and nothing else. You must believe this. No attachments will be formed then.”

“Leave witch, it’s too late for the both of us. Our bond was formed long ago. She can’t help but desire me when she drinks.”

I heard the door shutting and both felt and heard the Lycan land on the ground over me. His bare feet were shoulders apart trapping me on either side of my hips. He crouched over my body, his hands gripping me- his face came down as he rubbed himself against me, nuzzling me. I was terrified because he felt and sounded so animalistic. He lifted me to him, smelling me… inhaling my scent deeply while his hands gripped me- he growled deep startling me.

“Stop… you’re not thinking clearly.” I told him, afraid of what he might do to me.

“You smell of another, I won’t allow it. You are mine, always have been.”

His voice sounded foreign, all gravel like making it difficult to understand him. “I warned you not to run, told you they would all pay with their lives. One day you will force me to impose all of my promises on you at once.”

He didn’t warn me about them, but I wasn’t going to argue because he obviously wasn’t going to harm them now.

“They’ve washed my scent off you. Never do it again, or I’ll do worse than Darius ever did.”

“Don’t…” I was about to warn him not to threaten me, but his movements stopped me.

Carrying me while shielding me with his body he jumped through the window.

As Luke ran further away with me in his arms, I heard my brother’s yells. “She will make you bring her back, Lycan. She is ours as much as she is yours.”

“Never!” He told me more than he answered them.

_______________________

When he was far enough and my brother no longer followed, perhaps our sister had forced him after all, he stopped… placing me on the soft grass. What a welcomed change. I looked up at the crescent moon, avoided looking at him- not wishing to see him as he was.
The first quarter moon will be in two nights.
The full moon was closing in on us. I needed to ask my sister what to expect with the Lycan. If the spell she had just cast would even work against him once he turned.

“I will never forgive you… for what you did to us, leaving me the way you did, Beauty. I warned you never to run from me. I’ve never known such pain. I know you have never known it as well. You are barely here.” He said being gentle with me again.

“I’m here until I choose to be. You’d be wise to remember.” I said with a false strength... pretending once again.

“Make no threats, or I will chain you to me. I’ll do what I have to, to keep you.”

“You are no different.”

“And you keep reminding me. You enjoy torture. You love giving it as much as you love to take it. You’re an expert at it. I wonder if it was you who began to implement it and not Eros as you blame.” He said as his hands found my thighs and forced them open to him.

I tried speaking to him… to get him to see reason, my hands gripping his wrist. “I only ran from you because you did the same to me, remember?” I said looking at his naked chest as he came to kneel over me. He was now unbuttoning his ripped pants and my perverse hands just followed his movements not really able to stop him.

He was almost entirely human again, all except his silver eyes, claws, and fangs. I watched him, watched his body undulate as he moved over me.
