‘I’m so, so sorry sweetheart, I had no idea they knew anything about you. They must have been tailing us, or they have somebody selling them information. They couldn’t have possibly known where you would be. This is so, oh my god I have no words to tell you how angry I am right now. I’m going to take you to my family home so at least I’ll know you will both be safe.’

I didn
’t argue with him or try to down play things. He knew this world better than me. He made some calls while we drove out of the city. By the time we arrived at his parent’s home, he had called his publicist, and lawyers, making them aware of the situation, he arranged for security to be present if we needed it, and clothes to be delivered for all of us. He made a call to Clive at the hotel to look into the possibility that somebody there told the press where we were, he seemed to trust Clive so I continued to listen. His final call was to a Man who was simply known as McCall. From what I heard he was some sort of P.I. that worked for Mason whenever he needed. Mase gave him some details and told him he would wait for his call. We got out of his car and Mase automatically walked around to fetch a sleeping Lily from her seat. When we walked toward the house, Gaby and Henry were already waiting for us.

‘How are you all doing?

‘We’re fine thanks Henry, just a bit shocked, I guess’ was my only reply, but Mase had more to say

‘Shocked is not the word I’d use, Mom, Dad, I am so pissed off right now. I hope you don’t mind but I have arranged for some security and our stuff to be delivered here. I just want a few days to get to the bottom of things and then try and address the press. I want Summer and Lily to be as safe as possible and I don’t think the hotel is the best option right now’

‘Of course son, we have already made up the guest rooms, but’ Henry paused before continuing ’do you think somebody told the press where you both were and how to find you today?’

‘Well I have Clive looking into his staff but I also spoke with McCall, if anybody can find out its him. I need to know how they found out so I can bite back. My interview was a shit storm. I was ambushed with questions that I was not prepared to answer and they knew it. My lawyers are dealing with the magazine and I have Jeremy dealing with publicity so we can spin this our way, hopefully.’

I couldn
’t believe this was happening and all because of me. I suddenly felt like an intruder, and decided to take Lily from Mason so I could put her down but also so I could escape and have a think about this nightmare. Gaby showed me to a room so I could put Lily to bed, she seemed too distraught. I couldn’t help but feel like I should be making my apologies and leaving but then she turned to me and said

‘Summer, are you ok? This must be very distressing for you, especially when you had Lily with you. I can’t even imagine. When Mason called I knew something was wrong, he told us about the interview and said he was on his way to you but then the call just cut off. I was frantic thinking the worse, I’m so glad you weren’t harmed. I don’t think he would survive if you were hurt because of him.’

‘Oh my God. I don’t blame him. How could he possibly know? We have spent so much time together since we met with no problems, even after the attack. I just don’t understand why this happened now. I mean it’s like somebody actually made a point of telling them where he was and who he was with. I feel like this is my fault. If I had gone home when I originally planned he wouldn’t be in the middle of this and could have just gotten on with his life. Maybe its best if we leave so it doesn’t cause him anymore problems.’

I had no other ideas apart from my need to make sure Mason was not affected anymore than he already had been. My mind started to race but before I could have a panic attack Gaby spoke

‘Hun, that’s the last thing he wants. Why would you think that leaving would be best, you would break his heart? He loves you, he loves Lily. Leaving is not a solution,’ before I could respond, Mason walked in and he did not look happy.

‘Mom can you give us a minute please? Gaby silently walked out of the room closing the door behind her. I turned to Mase so I could see his eyes.

‘Why? Why would you think that leaving me would be the right thing to do? Sweetheart, I love you. I need you with me, all this shit, well it’s nothing new. I have always dealt with this stuff. More so since I became more elusive but that’s not going to change. The press are like vultures they will do anything for a story. Unfortunately a photo of me with a mystery lady sells. I’m not angry with you, I’m angry that they thought they could piss me about and get away with it. I have taken extreme measures before and they obviously didn’t learn their lesson the first time around. Trust me that’s their mistake. Another perk of having a lot of money and some well deserved connections is nobody fucks with you.’ I tried not to look scared, but the way he looked right now terrified me. He gave me a look that said ’Oh Shit’ then let out a breath and said

’Oh God, I’m sorry. I must be really scary right now. I would never hurt you, you know that right?’

‘Of course, I know your just upset, but you don’t need to worry about us ok, we’re both fine. The situation was scary, but more because of the ambush. Lily didn’t know what was happening and I wasn’t prepared. Stupid really considering what happened at the airport. I just thought that if we had gone home you wouldn’t have to deal with this shit now, I’m sorry.’

He looked exhausted all of a sudden so I walked over and hugged him tight, he put his arms around me and said

‘If anything happened to either of you I wouldn’t know what to do. My job is to keep you both safe, I love you.’ I held on to him but I didn’t want him burdening the responsibility for us

‘You don’t need to take this on yourself. I’m here and we can work this out together.’ We didn’t say anything else, Mase turned and we left the room so Lily could sleep, He walked into the next room and closed the door behind us.

‘This is my room when I stay here, I hope you don’t mind but I don’t want to be away from you’ I understood him, so I walked over to the bed and ushered him to me. We lay down and before I knew it we were asleep.

I became conscious of somebody talking in the room, so without opening my eyes I listened to the conversation surrounding me.

‘Mason son, its great seeing how you are with her, and her little girl. What are you planning to do? She’ll need to go home soon, she has responsibilities you know that. Maybe it would be best for all of you if you distance yourselves for a while.’

‘Dad seriously!!! You’re suggesting I let the only woman I have ever loved walk away from me, because of the press? I’m not sure I can, I feel lost when I think about not having her near me, and what about Lily dad? I feel, oh God, I feel like she’s mine already. I love them both. I can’t just let them leave me. We need to talk about it, before any decisions are made. Can we have a few days before you try to get rid of us?

‘Son, that’s not it at all. I know how you feel, I am very fond of Summer and Lily, but for their own good it may be best if they’re away from the situation. I know I don’t have all the details but I can guess what she has been dealing with back home, being here may make things harder for them both.’

‘Look I’m not going to make any decisions. I need to talk to my team so I know what’s being said, at least then we can make a decision together. I won’t do anything without talking with Summer first.’

‘Ok son, I’ll leave you to it, I just want you to know that you have my support regardless of what decisions are made.’

‘Thanks dad.’ I heard the door close, and felt the bed dip. Mase lay down next to me and moved my hair away from my face before saying

‘Baby, I love you, I’m sorry I dragged you into this’ I couldn’t let him feel that way so I slowly opened my eyes

‘I love you too, and you didn’t drag me into anything, I’m here willingly, I’ve already told you that I don’t want to be away from you but….but maybe it would be best if we went back until things calm down a bit. At least then when everything is back to normal you can come to the UK and we can talk about things from there. I know you don’t want to admit this but it’s for the best, for you, but also for us. I have to think about Lily. That doesn’t mean I don’t love you, it’s because I love you that I need you to let us go.’

Mason sat and just stared at me for a few minutes before finally nodding back at me. With a tear is his eye, he reached out and pulled me close, the decision made.

Chapter 10

Summer

We spent the next few days together making plans and being as normal as possible. Mason’s parents tried their best to make the time as painless as possible, but I noticed the difference in Mase. He tried his best to hide his feelings especially in front of Lily but he couldn’t hide them from me. He spent as much time with Lily as he could without making her feel like something was wrong, although she was very perceptive and seemed to know that he was unhappy. Mason arranged for us to travel home on his plane, which meant that we could travel without the added complication of photographers and press. He arranged for our belongings to be shipped in from the hotel so that we didn’t need to worry about going back into the city.

The Stone family decided that they would have a nice family dinner on our last night so that everybody could say goodbye. I called John to confirm our flight information and he confirmed that Lys had already taken care of things with the new house, the sale was completed and they had furnished it so all that remained was for us to move in. I decided that I needed some time alone with Mase so we could connect again. This last week had been too much and I felt that we were drifting, so I arranged for Mel to take Lily riding while Henry and Gaby went out shopping for dinner so I took advantage of the time by making sure Mason met me in his room.

‘Baby, I got your text, where are you? I made sure to dim the lights, and close the curtains. The room was lit with candles so it felt more intimate.

‘I’m in the bathroom, Just sit down on the bed I won’t be a minute.’ I heard his movements and gave him some time to relax. I’m not sure why but I imagined this being our wedding night, after a long day with family and friends, finally coming together. I took a deep breath and walked out into the bedroom, Mase did a double take as he noticed my entrance. The soft negligee I wore leaving very little to the imagination.

‘I wanted to make today special for you, so I arranged for us to be alone until dinner tonight, I hope you don’t mind?

‘Wow….just wow you’re amazing. Thank you, Where’s Lily?’

‘She’s with your sister, girl time. I think their bonding,’ chuckling I moved toward him and he wrapped me in his arms.

‘I can’t imagine being here without you, even for a short time.’

‘I know, I guess we’ll have to skype.’

‘Yea, but that’s not the same as feeling you here in my arms,’ the knot in my stomach grew and made the lump in my throat seem constricting. I looked into his eyes before telling him how I felt

‘Mase, I don’t want this to be a sad goodbye, it’s only for a short time, sort of like a holiday. I want to make this a memory that will keep you going until we can be together again. Now please do something for me?’

‘Anything love, name it’ I paused before asking him,

‘Make love to me’ he didn’t need any more persuasion, he lifted me and placed me on the bed. We kissed, soft and gentle, memorising every touch, before he moved to lift my underwear over my head. I was laid bare, but the look in his eyes made me feel like the most beautiful thing in his world. I moved my fingers under his shirt before undoing the buttons and moving it down his arms. I used my body to roll us over so I could look at him before moving to take off his jeans and boxers. We lay together for what seemed like hours just touching each other. I couldn’t stand it any longer so I begged him with my eyes. I needed him, I wanted him, and I loved him, with everything that I am. We rolled over and he positioned himself between my thighs, using his fingers first to make sure that I was ready for him. The feelings he caused were indescribable, I closed my eyes but opened them knowing I wouldn’t want to miss a moment of this time. Moving forward I felt his firmness at my entrance, before he pushed inside and made us one again. There were no reservations or doubts, I loved this man and would do anything for him.

‘I love you’ he said while using his incredible strength to move inside me, I matched his thrusts trying my best to give him the ecstasy that he always brought me. Tears pooled in my eyes while I looked back at him. I could already feel the warmth spiralling around my body waiting to explode but the look of awe on his face made me feel cherished. Mase used his fingers to find my clit and push me over the edge, my orgasm took over me so quickly I held my breath while clinging to his arms, I felt his cock thicken but he carried on moving making me feel like I was flying. When I came back to earth I looked up into his eyes and he started to move faster and harder, making love with him was amazing and no words could describe how this man could make me feel. He used his remaining strength to push himself over into bliss. No words were spoken but the look on his face while he came will be forever stored in my memory. Mason didn’t pull out, maintaining our connection, we caught our breath and just drank each other in.
