Incredible.

I couldn't have asked for better luck. To finally give in to finding a wife and showing up at the one place on the planet where my girl worked... incredible. We moved toward the front door and I reached for it first, pulling it open and watching her closely. She was sensual at the club the night before, her clothes, hair and make-up totally fitting a woman on the prowl, but today?

Today she looked like sex in a business suit. Her black skirt and fitted top seemed to have been made for her. She wore very little jewelry, which had me assuming that she was rather modest when it came to spending and money matters.

Another point in her favor. There I was making mistakes with her, meanwhile she was gaining points to become the one woman I wanted beside me. And her name...Lila. How nicely it rolled off my tongue.

"You look amazing, by the way." I turned toward her as we waited for the elevator, needing to study her more closely. Her makeup was subtle, but she used simple accents that brought out the various colors of her eyes and the thick fullness of her lips.

"What the fuck are you doing here?" Her voice was nothing more than a whisper, but I could hear the emotion in it.

I lifted my hands in a sign of surrender. "I know you'll not believe me, but I'm honestly here to work with you guys on finding my perfect match. You can check the records if you want. I've been talking back and forth with Gisele for almost three weeks now. This is a total coincidence."

"I don't believe in that shit." She walked into the elevator, her mood seeming to have shifted significantly. As long as she didn't cry, I’d be fine. I never could figure out what to do with a woman once they started crying. Scary as hell.

"I don't know what to tell you. You're stuck with me for a little while longer." I shrugged and moved into the elevator, breathing in deeply in the hopes of catching a hint of her perfume. Now that I knew where she was, I'd be there as often as I could without it appearing overly creepy.

"You didn't do this on purpose? You promise?" She turned toward me, crossing her arms over her chest as if to protect herself.

"I swear." I pulled my phone from my pocket and pulled up the e-mails from Gisele before handing her the phone. "Check out the dates, Lila. I'm not a perv, I promise."

She took the phone and moved toward the large double doors, glancing up to smile at a young guy who called her name and waved.

I stopped myself from asking about him. Now wasn't the time to appear anything but calm and self-absorbed in front of her. It was the only way to give her back the peace she seemed to be grasping for in my presence.

"Here. I guess it's just one of those crazy situations." She handed back my phone and shrugged. As she turned toward me, the sunlight brushed across her face.

Beautiful wouldn't do her justice and gorgeous was just touching the surface. She was a vixen in bed and had a confidence I'd never seen. Funny that it only seemed it only came out of hiding behind a thick layer of makeup and strobe lights.

I handed my valet tag to the two guys standing by the curb and turned toward her. "It's fate or luck perhaps. Nothing else."

She chuckled and let out a long breath. "Yeah... just
my
luck."

I started to respond, but held my tongue. Something about her disapproval over our surprise reunion left me wondering if I'd dreamed up the pleasure that moved between us the night before, but I hadn't. She definitely had been as into me as I was into her. Morning after regret must have been weighing on her mind by the look on her pretty face.

"Well, however it happened, we're stuck together for a while. I want a wife and you're just the girl to help me find her." I winked and opened the car door for her. She glanced back at me, the seat before her a little too familiar I suspected. "Get in. I don't bite, unless you want me to."

"That's half of the problem." She got in and buckled up as my heart skipped a beat.

I paid the valet and got in the car, turning the music down and the heater up as I glanced over at her. "So... a match maker who doesn't actually believe in love?"

She chuckled, her mood lightening just a little, but I liked it. "Match making has nothing to do with love and everything to do with compatibility."

"I'm compatible. Don't you think?"

"You're a gem in the sack, but I don't know anything else about you. My job is to find out enough to put you together with a woman perfectly suited for you." She pressed her fingers to the bridge of her nose and let out another chuckle. "Why would a guy who just slept with a random stranger want a wife?"

"Why would a woman as passionate as you not want a man to hold you at night? To wake you up in the wee hours of the morning and make love to you again, worshiping your body and feeding your soul?" I knew taking a shot back at her wasn't fair, yet I was unable to help myself.

She glanced toward me and I almost regretted my words. Someone had hurt her—badly. The fact that she was ballsy enough to slap me with the truth of my own situation meant she was straightforward, a hard hitter, but trustworthy. I liked her even more in the moment.

"I'll start this process for you, but I'm not going to be able to finish it." She glanced down at her nails and licked at her pretty pink lips.

"Why not?"

"Because." She refused to look at me.

"We've made love, Lila. I'm more than some guy you just met. Well, not really." I tried, but failed to get her to see things my way.

"We screwed last night and you were supposed to disappear after that." Her voice was harsh and it was obvious she wasn't going to yield to me easily.

Fine.

"So tell me why you can't help me, or I'll just let Gisele know that you're not a good fit because I'm attracted to you. That way you swing around a pole leaves me breathless. She should know it's an unfair situation as I'm not sure any woman could take my attention off of you." I winked as she looked up.

"You would not."

"I would. I'm a heartless rich bastard who loves to fuck random girls in my car, remember?"

Her sardonic chuckle caused my lips to lift in a smile.

"Fine. Don't say anything to her, please. I have a good-girl reputation I'd like to keep up, even though it's a farce."

"A big one."

"Right. Anyway..." she rolled her eyes and turned toward me. "I want to open my own business and I have everything together for it, but the location. Real Estate has always been something I struggle with. Finding the right location is everything."

"For a business it sure is."

"Exactly. I've looked at a million places and none of them seem right." She let out a short sigh. "I just don't want to work for someone else my whole life. I'm capable of building something from the ground up. I have no doubt."

I couldn't help but look over at her as I pulled up to a red light. The thoughts running through my head were crazy, and yet I was willing to put it all on the table for another night with this girl.

"Hear me out?" A long strand of chestnut hair had come out of her bun and played around her face as she turned and locked her eyes onto me. I reached up and tucked it behind her ear.

"Okay. What do I have to lose?" She crossed her arms across her chest again and I had to stop myself from tugging her arms free from the restrictive hold. I hated to see the self-assured girl I met last night, transformed into a wounded soul right before my eyes.

"I'm a business man at heart and all my money is earned, not inherited. I know how to find the perfect location, how to invest, and how to fund and launch a new business. I'll help you get off the ground under two conditions."

Her eyes widened a little as she turned to face me. "What? Seriously? Yes. Anything."

"Wait... two conditions. You need to agree." I reached for her hand and pulled it toward me. "You will be my matchmaker until we find the right woman for me."

"Yes. Done." She turned and nodded toward the light. "It's green."

"I don't give a fuck. I want you to look at me when I tell you the rest of the deal. I need to know that you agree."

She smiled in a cocky manner that promised to haunt me. "Alright bossy butt. I'm listening."

"You're my matchmaker, but until we find the woman who's going to fulfill my needs—you will." I pressed my lips to her palm and brushed the tip of my nose on her fingers as she took in a sharp breath, but didn't pull away from me.

"What? What needs?"

"Any needs I have. I want you to make yourself available to me at all times."

"Which includes..."

I smiled and kissed her palm once more before tugging her toward me and pressing her fingers to my budding erection. "Yeah, long hot nights of fabulous sex when I want them. Anytime I want them. Slow passionate hours in the shower and you on your knees under my desk when I need to let off some steam."

"Sounds like you're looking for a slut."

"Nope. I'm looking for the perfect woman for me."

"That's not me."

"Right, but you're going to pretend to be her until we find her. Deal, pretty girl? Let’s share… your dreams for mine."
