Eden’s lips parted and her cheeks flushed.  She started shaking her head.

“I’m not asking, angel.”  He closed his fist around the ball and replaced it in the box before setting it on the night stand.  “How well you accept them depends on our day.”  He turned to her and pulled her down so she was once again cradled in his arms.  “You can be whatever you need to be outside this room, Eden.  You are the Skin Walker Domina, and I expect much of you.  I also understand your role and need for your own power.  But!”  He leaned up on an elbow, pushing her back to a reclined position so he could peer down at her.  “Inside these four walls there’ll never be compromise to what I want.  I’m always in charge.  Inside this bedroom, you’ll be my good girl or you’ll be punished.”

“Punished?” Fear was nonexistent where he was concerned, but anger was swift.  “I won’t let…”

His finger on her lips silenced her.  “Easy, angel.  Not that kind of punishment.  You know I’d never harm you.”  His finger slid across her lips and down her throat.  It circled the hollow of her throat a few times tracing a path to a breast and circling a nipple.  “What I meant was Thursday, when you wear your bells, if you’re a good girl I’ll be satisfied knowing they’re inside you, torturing you with sweet agony.”  His finger stopped circling her nipple to pinch it lightly sending shooting streams of heat to her clit.  “But if you fight me,” he smiled as if in giddy anticipation.  “Well, you’ll still wear your bells, but we’ll be going horseback riding.  Fast, hard, steady gallops that eat up the ground and will leave your saddle soaked.”

Eden’s mouth fell open and Monroe chuckled before he bent to
kiss her.

When he pulled back she licked her lips.  “I don’t think I can do this,” she waved a hand at the room in general, “and be a mother too.  It feels…wrong.  I feel like a deviant.”

“Deviant?” he smiled.  “You just married a man that can shift into animal form.  You’re raising children that can do the same, and you are now the Domina over this same group of creatures.  I think, angel, it’s safe to say you’ve strayed as far from the norm as one can get.”

She worried her bottom lip
before speaking.  “I just don’t want to reflect poorly on the children, Monroe.  Things’ll be hard enough without me being some…some…” she shook her head, at a loss for words.

“Does it feel wrong when I’m inside you
, Eden?”

“No.”

“Does it feel wrong to be mated to me?”

“No.”

“And is it wrong of you to want to please your Walker?  Your husband?”

“No,
I suppose not.”

His arms snaked around her and held her tightly.  “We’ll go slow
, angel.  It only seems odd now because it’s all so new.  Give it time.  I’ll never ask more of you than you are willing to freely give.  Do you trust that?”

She nodded.

She had no idea the whole truth of it.
She
was
his
Dominant out of and inside
the bedroom.  She controlled him and she held all of the power where he was concerned.  She was the only thing that could ease his temper, brighten his day, and call forth his previously non-existent smile.  One word from her and he’d back off, one true show of fear, one tear brought forth by any actual pain she felt….she had the power to destroy him, and for Monroe StoneCrow it was the most humbling realization in the world.  He’d been prepared to be taken down by the Megalya, hell he’d even kept up his guard around his fellow Walkers, but this…
her!
She was so small, so fragile looking, so unassuming.  Worst of all she had no idea the command she had over him, not yet at least.

Reaching across her body, he pulled the comforter
over her and tucked it around her naked shoulders.  “Sleep, angel.”  He knew she was exhausted, he could feel it as her body stretched restlessly, wanting sleep.  “You’ve had a hard day.  You’ll have an even bigger day tomorrow.”

“What’s tomorrow,” she asked around a yawn.

His lips brushed her forehead.  “Tomorrow you wake as my wife.  I tried to warn you about the demands on my angel.”  His tone turned serious, “Life won’t be easy for us you, but I will make it happy or die trying.”

“I’m not worried,” her tone was soft as her eyes drifted closed, “I’m up for the challenge.”

He kissed the top of her head and squeezed her tighter.
Yes.  Yes, you are my angel.

With Eden asleep in his arms, Monroe stared at the ceiling for hours going over adjustments that would need to be made with regard to staffing
.  Construction would need to be done to the facility to keep his Domina and his children safe.  It was more than worrisome, it was terrifying.  He couldn’t lose her.  He couldn’t lose any of them.  Finally, he understood how his Walkers felt.  The afflicted, the now mated.  The irrationality they exhibited where their angels were concerned.
Hmph!
Compared to what he had planned, their demands had been mild.  Slowly, a smile spread across his features.  He’d never even realized he’d wanted his angel until she’d fallen into his lap, and now that he had her, life at StoneCrow was about to change forever.

Skin Walkers: Gauge

by

Susan A. Bliler

“Get up!” Gauge ground out.  “We’re going to the infirmary.”

Ella’s eyes eased open and she lay staring straight up at the ceiling.  “I can’t.”

“You can, and you will,” Gauge bit out angrily as he grabbed the blanket that covered her and yanked it down, stilling at the sight that met him.

Ella didn’t need to look at his face to know his expression would be one of horror.  The white lace panties and matching camisole she wore exposed the trauma that she’d hoped to keep hidden.  Her left ankle was swollen and the purple bruising that encircled the soft ball size sprain, didn’t just stop at her ankle.  All the way up the length of her slender calf to the round of her left hip, her skin was
severely bruised.  It wasn’t blue, it wasn’t purple.  Her delicate creamy skin was marred by the stark black declaration of trauma.  The hem of her camisole was hiked up enough to reveal that the bruise carried up her ribs before it disappeared under the white satin.  Ella’s shoulder too was black all the way down to her elbow and onto her swollen wrist that lay limply across her abdomen, previously hidden from view under the blanket that had covered her.

At first Gauge didn’t speak.  After several moments, Ella shifted her gray eyes from the ceiling to his face.  His complexion was ashen and for the first time since she’d met him, Gauge Alexander was speechless.

She watched his throat convulse as he swallowed hard.

Gauge knew now that Ella wasn’t refusing to get up, she simply couldn’t.  He drew in a deep breath trying to control the rage that slowly enveloped him as he ground out in a nearly unrecognizable growl.  “Who did this?”

“I fell.”

His eyes jerked to hers.  He couldn’t smell the lie over the scent of her pain as it engulfed the room, but he didn’t need to.  No fall could have done this.

“Who in the fuck did this?” His growl was even deeper now.

Ella swallowed as her throat thickened with emotion.  “I-I fell Mr. Alexander.”

She watched as he shoved an angry hand into his short blonde hair and cursed under his breath.

“You’re going to the infirmary.”  He bent and slid his hands under her and tried to lift her even as she protested.  He didn’t get far.

As he moved to stand and Ella’s body bent, she sucked in a sharp breath.  “Gauge, STOP!”

It was the first time she’d ever called him by his first name, and the sound of his name on her tongue sent an involuntary shudder through him even as his nostrils flared and he took in the scent of her escalated pain.  Hell, he didn’t think it was possible for her to hurt more than she already did, and how was she keeping from crying out when he knew the pain was excruciating was a mystery to him.

Gauge eased her back onto the bed and growled toward the wall, “Get here now!”

Ella knew he was communicating through the Walker ties known as the mystic, the mist for short.  She watched him pace for several agonizing minutes before Jenny rushed into the room.  Gauge didn’t stop his pacing when Jenny stopped at the door.  Shock clouded her expression as she stared down at Ella’s battered body.

About the Author

My pack territory is in Central Montana, between Stone Crow estates and the North Fortress.  Born and raised in an untamed location that bridges the gap between rolling prairies and majestic mountain peaks, I am born to a family that also bridges the gap between cultures.  My father’s people boast a fiercely proud Scottish ancestry while my mother’s tribes descend from two savagely beautiful and unique nations that inspire my Skin Walkers series.

I'm a huge fan of MMA, boxing, hockey, 30 Seconds to Mars, Linkin Park, DMX, and the Killers.  I also love to read because it encourages me to write.  (I hate it when authors add that they love coffee and chocolate.  Really?  Who doesn't love coffee and chocolate?)  Anyway, I love beer...kidding.  I don't
love
beer but we are engaged in a very serious relationship.  (Mom, please don't call me when you read this.)
