Chapter Twenty-Three

Milan

I didn't care how crazy I looked. I ran out of my office, screaming like a fool. People began to come out of their offices, trying to see what was going on. But, I kept going, running straight to the security desk.
I was so afraid of Jabari and what he was capable of doing to me. I thought that things like this only happened in movies. Who'd have ever thought that Jabari would turn into some psycho?

Ronnie, the security officer, tried to ask me what was wrong, but I couldn't get the words out. I looked back, just as Jabari hit the corner, making a dash for the door. My heart was racing. But I managed to settle down enough to tell Ronnie about Jabari's stalking ass, then I asked to use the phone, as he radioed for someone to come to the security desk.

I called Wise first, then I called up to the kid's school to tell them not to let Jabari get them. After that, I called my mother to pick up the kids and keep them with her until Wise and I got to her.

I was a nervous wreck as I sat there, waiting for Wise to pull back up. I wasn't beat for no shit like this, and Jabari just helped me to make my decision to quit my job. I couldn't walk around knowing that he was after me, and could pop up at any minute. Hell, I wondered how Jabari got into my office in the first place. Somebody wasn't doing their job.

Wise pulled up at the same time that a police cruiser pulled into the parking lot. As soon as I saw him, I ran out the door and jumped into his arms, holding him tight.

Wise was mad as hell. I could see it all in his face. "I told yo' hard-headed ass not to go to work!" He snarled, as his eyes traveled to the little stubby uniformed officer, making his way over to us.

A few of my coworkers had come outside and were standing around looking at the scene, as well as the office manager and Ronnie. I was so embarrassed now that everything had calmed down.

"So what happened here." The officer asked, pulling out a notepad.

I was about to speak, but Wise cut me off. "Nothing officer, it was a big misunderstanding." He answered for me, giving me the eye to keep my mouth shut.

The officer eyed me suspiciously. "I was talking to the lady, sir." He focused back on me. "Now, are you ok, ma'am. I was told that there was a disturbance with an ex?"

Wise kissed his teeth. "Man I told you,"

He was about to get ignorant, and I knew it was because he was mad about Jabari, but I cut him off, placing my hand over his mouth. He couldn't protect me if he was locked up.

"I'm ok officer. It's handled." I assured him, plastering on a smile. I personally wanted to just tell him what was happening so that Jabari's ass would get locked up. However, I knew that Wise had more permanent plans for him.

The officer asked a few more questions before allowing us to leave. When we got into the car, it was completely silent. We just rode, allowing the music to speak for us.

I finally broke the silence when I saw that we were driving in the opposite direction of our house. "Where are you going, Wise?" I asked, confused.

He stared at me, holding the glare for a second, before focusing back on the road. " I'm about to pick up Carter and his homeboy from the airport. We handling this shit tonight."

I couldn't even speak. I knew that if Carter was back in Detroit, that things were serious. He was crazy as hell, and he was known to be the cause of a lot of mother's crying at funerals. Jabari was going to die, and a part of me felt relief.

Chapter Twenty-Four

Carter

Detroit… I don’t think that the city was ready for Crazy Carter again. I smirked as the memories began to flood my memory bank. Some were good, but I had a lot more bad ones. It left a bad taste in mouth just thinking about my homeboy, Smoke. They did him dirty, but I made sure to catch every last person that I thought was involved with his murder and sent them six feet under. Well, I got the majority of them.

I knew that it must have been some serious shit if Wise was calling me back to the city. I hadn’t stepped foot in the D in close to nine years, and I had no plans on coming back. But, I’d split a nigga shit wide open, then go to his funeral and slap his mother over my little brother. He was all that I had, so it wasn’t no bullshitting when it came to him.

I stepped off the plane, along with my right-hand Adonnis. I saw a few females checking for us, but I brushed them off, making my way towards the baggage claim. Later for the hoes, I had to see what was up with my lil’ bro.

“Damn, y’all got some bad ones in the D. They be choosin’ too.” Adonnis chuckled, eyeing a thick broad with red hair.

I waved him off, “Man, you already know I’m hip. I still got a few I can hit up after we handle business. You know I still talk to Lissa” I told him, emphasizing the fact that we had business to handle.

I met Adonnis a few days after I landed in Atlanta nine years ago. He was the cousin of this chick that I was messing with. We got to kicking it and real recognized real. He was a pretty  boy ass cat that would fuck a nigga up without thinking twice, and he was the connect. We teamed up and it’s been history ever since.

“Man, fuck Lissa. You know I already know what’s up. But shit, I can look.” He held his gaze on the red-bone for a few seconds longer, then he looked away as we hit the corner, grabbing our bags and making our way outside where Wise was waiting on us in front of the door with his hazards on.

He was sitting on the hood of his car and he pushed off with a smile when he saw us. I hadn’t seen Wise in close to a year. Seeing him reminded me that I missed having my brother around every day. I had been trying to get him to move to the A, but he just couldn’t leave the D alone.

“Damn nigga, you almost as fly as me.” I teased, taking in his 2016 Porsche Panamera, and the diamonds that glistened his neck and wrist.

“I keep telling you I ain’t lil bro no more. I’m that nigga.” Wise shot back, slapping fives with Adonnis, then embracing me in a manly hug.

“That’s why you had to call me? ‘Cause you that nigga, huh?” I chuckled, only joking, as we all piled into the car. I was about to say some slick shit about the chick sitting in the front seat until I realized who it was. I hadn’t seen Milan’s lil ass in close to two or three years. That was Sis. I always said that she was who Wise needed in his corner. I leaned forward and added, “You the only female I’ll ever sit in the back seat for.”

She giggled, “Whatever. Hey to you too Carter. How is Selena?” She asked, referring to my shawty. My chest tightened a bit, just thinking about her. Selena was my heart, but I guess she got tired of my lifestyle. She walked away a few months ago and never came back. I didn’t even know how to get in contact with her. She cut off all communication.

“Fuck her,” I shrugged, focusing on Wise. “So what’s going on? Why I got to make this trip back to the D? Who we got to fuck up?” I got straight to it. I wanted all the details.

Wise began to explain everything to me as we made the 45 minute drive back to his house. By the time that we pulled up, I was all filled in, and my mind was made up on catching a body. Wise handled his shit way different than me. It ain’t no way in hell a nigga could whip his burner out on me and still be living to talk about it the next day. I see I still had to teach lil’ bro a few things.

Chapter Twenty-Five

Milan

Wise rented a hotel suite out in Novi and instructed my mother to go out there and stay for a few days with the kids. With the way that he and Carter were talking, I was actually beginning to get scared and anxious all at the same time. I was just ready for everything to get back to normal, and for Wise and I to be able to live our happily ever after. Lord knows that we deserved it.

After the kids and my mother were squared away, we went back to Wise’s house. As soon as we pulled into the driveway, my face instantly twisted into a frown. Sasha’s car was parked in the driveway, and obviously she was just chilling like she still lived here.

I turned to Wise. “She still has a key? I just know that you didn’t let that broad back inside!”

Wise looked just as frustrated as me. “Nah, I didn’t tell her to come through. But she does have a key, Milan. She lived here for three years. I didn’t think to take it back.” Wise explained. Carter sat in the backseat cracking up.

Both Wise and I turned to look at him as if he was crazy. He shook his head. “Man you got more problems than a little bit, lil’ bro. I thought you was up here running shit.”

I saw Wise’s chest poke out. “Trust me, it ain’t shit I can’t handle.” Wise assured him.

Adonnis just sat back, looking. He was a quiet, mysterious type of cat. He was cute, but I knew that his looks were definitely deceiving. It was his eyes.

Carter continued to laugh. “Well go and handle that shit. Me and Adonnis about to hit a few corners right quick. Leave the keys.”

Wise gave Carter a funny look, pulling out his cell phone. “Nah, I’ll have Keem come pick you up and ride you around the city.”

Carter leaned forward, snatching the phone. “Hell nah! I don’t want you telling nobody I’m in the city.”

“Nah, Keem cool people. He probably gone help,”

“No!” Carter yelled, cutting Wise off, causing me to jump. “What you call me here for if you got other mothafuckas to help? I don’t know that nigga. I don’t fuck with outsiders. That’s the quickest way to get yo’ ass caught up. He probably in the cut plotting on you.”

I stared at Carter. He looked like an older version of Wise. I swear, good looks ran in their family; because he was sexy as hell, but he had this bad boy era about him that made him even more appealing.

“Aight,” Wise said, tossing his keys into Carter’s lap. “Don’t fuck up my shit. Be back in like two hours. I’m gone put my ear to the streets and we gone handle this shit tonight.” Carter nodded as we hopped out.

Wise and Carter had a close relationship, even with Carter living so far away. I wondered how things were going to play out with him being in Detroit. Just the thought of everything that happened before he relocated left a bad taste in my mouth. Carter was crazy and I didn’t want his past to come back and bite him.

Wise turned to me as we walked up the driveway and into the house. “Milan, don’t get up in here and start tripping. Let me handle her.”

I just nodded. I didn’t agree, nor did I disagree. My actions would solely depend on how she acted. I was already in my feelings about her trying to play Wise. I didn’t trust the bitch as far as I could throw her.

The inside of Wise’s house was expensively decorated with fancy paintings, he flat screens and expensive furniture. He had is coordinated in a black and white theme. When we got inside, Wise immediately began to search the house for Sasha. I was hot on his heels. I needed to know why she was there.

We finally found her in Wise’s bedroom, and she wasn’t alone. Keem was in there with her and they were all up in the closet. I put my hand on my hips and smirked at the look on Wise’s face. I guess we were both shocked to see them together, alone, and snooping through Wise’s closet.

I wondered what story her lying ass was about to come up with, and why she was alone with Keem in the bedroom. I wouldn’t be surprised if the heffa was fucking Keem too. My women’s intuition was telling me that she was as phony as a six dollar bill.

Sasha

"Grab that bag, please," I turned to Keem and instructed. I didn’t look at Wise or acknowledge his presence. I couldn’t look him in his eyes, I was trying my damnedest not to show how nervous I was. I hated that I even allowed Keem to talk me in to allowing him into the house so that he could look for Wise's safe. Hell, I'd never even seen it before. Plus, Keem promised me that Wise would be out handling business all day.

I watched as Keem grabbed my luggage that we had packed as a decoy just in case. He began to walk toward the door, only stopping to slap fives with Wise.

"What's up bro? She got me over here carrying all these heavy ass bags." He chuckled, playing it off. "I swear she lucky you my nigga." He added, shaking his head.

I finally looked up at Wise to see if he was buying it. However, his facial expression was blank.

"Yeah, only because I know that he wouldn't want anyone else in the house, and I need to get my things out of here before his little friend starts to wear my shit." I rolled my eyes. I always knew that Wise didn't love me the way that I wanted him to. But it stung to see him with another woman and I hated Milan for the hold that she had over my man. I wished that she would disappear already. I didn’t sign up for all of these extra emotions when I first started dating Wise.

"Girl please! I wouldn't get caught dead rocking anything that belongs to you! Besides, I'm sure it was Wise’s money that purchased everything that you own; so if I was to put your shit on, technically it belongs to Wise!" She sassed, causing me to roll my eyes.

Gosh, I hated her! I wasn't with setting Wise up at first, but maybe I'll pretend to help Jabari and Keem if they helped me get rid of his little ghetto gutter rat first. After she's out of the picture, then I'll come running back to Wise and tell him what they were planning. Then, he'll handle them and we could be happily ever after.

"Fuck all that." Wise shot, angrily. "Why the fuck is this nigga in my fucking house, and in my room without me knowing shit about it?"
Wise was pissed. He grabbed Keem up by his collar and slammed him into the wall. "You been trying to fuck her behind my, back nigga?" He looked towards me. "Is this one of my nigga that you claim on some bullshit?"

Before I could answer, Keem knocked Wise's hand away. "Nigga get the fuck off of me. I been yo' homeboy since forever! The fuck I got to cross you for?" If I didn't know any better, I would have believed Keem too. He put on a hell of a front.

"I don't trust no ma'fucking body no more. You need to be getting the fuck out of my crib. Both of y'all. I'll have somebody send you yo' shit." Wise pointed toward the door, directing us to leave.

Oh he was really mad, and the fact that he was jealous gave me a little hope. Now I had to put a plan into motion to get rid of that Milan bitch, then get Jabari and Keem out of the picture.

Wise, the baby, and I could have our happily ever after. I knew for a fact that once he saw our child, that he would have a change of heart. I may have done my dirt, but I knew it was his baby that I was carrying.
