“Only in comparison to you,” Julian says, feeling the need to defend Felicia’s sartorial honor.
Mira struts right by Felicia’s table, and while Felicia and Autumn’s gazes are fixed upon Mira’s rainbow spikes, Julian tucks the puffin key chain he stole into the duffel bag at Felicia’s feet. He’s going to do whatever he has to in order to get assigned to the modified mission. There’s nothing more important to him now than getting permission to stay on Earth and being able to protect Felicia.
“See you soon,” he whispers. And then he strides after Mira’s retreating figure.
