Gloria waved her hand in the air. ‘Who knows? Some nonsense about him being too domineering.’ And not dominating enough, she thought, with a suppressed chuckle. ‘It’s ridiculous. She’s married to one of the most upstanding men in Savannah, and she can’t even come up with a decent reason for leaving him.’
‘Well, I wouldn’t say that Logan is the most upstanding man in Savannah,’ Ted replied. ‘At least, not at this very moment.’
Gloria turned to look at her husband, her eyebrows lifting as she saw the length of his cock tenting the sheet. ‘My goodness. And I thought I’d exhausted you.’
She reached out to palm the hard bulge, giving Ted a smile as she did so. He was a nice-looking man, her husband. Tall and slender with light brown hair and blue eyes. The fact that he didn’t resemble Sean Connery in his Bond days wasn’t terribly distressing. After all, Gloria had a vivid enough imagination, and Ted had always been able to satisfy her in bed. She found that characteristic particularly attractive. He was a bit on the submissive side, as she had discovered recently, but she didn’t mind catering to his needs that way.
She bent to press a kiss against his neck and slid the sheet over his hips to reveal his prick. Wrapping her fingers around the shaft, she slowly stroked him to a full erection. His skin was still scented with the fragrance of their mingled secretions from an earlier bout of lovemaking. Gloria took him in her mouth, sliding her lips over his shaft until he filled her mouth completely.
Ted gave a little moan of pleasure, spreading his legs apart to give her access to his testicles. Gloria’s fingers stroked downwards to rub the crinkly sac, then further to the ring of his arsehole. She was surprised when he drew in a breath of pleasure.
‘Yes, baby,’ he whispered. ‘Do that.’
‘Even after the dildo?’ Gloria asked.
Ted nodded. Gloria probed gently at the tight aperture, then lifted herself to remove her gown and then splay her body over his. She settled her breasts against his pelvis and parted her legs to give him access to her pussy. Her body jerked with pleasure when she felt his tongue start to explore the damp folds. He knew every inch of her, knew exactly where to put his tongue to stimulate her fully. With a moan, Gloria writhed against him, taking his penis in her mouth again as they simultaneously pleasured each other. Ted’s hands spread over her buttocks, massaging and kneading her flesh as his mouth worked industriously between her thighs.
‘Gloria?’ he murmured, his voice muffled.
Gloria flicked her tongue into the little slit at the head of his cock. ‘Hmm?’
‘Ride me, would you?’
Gloria pulled her body up and turned to straddle him. She smiled down at him, pleased to note the flushed expression of his face and the beads of sweat forming on his forehead. With her around, Ted had no need to turn elsewhere for sexual satisfaction. Feeling the urge to indulge, Gloria rubbed Ted’s knob over her cunt for lubrication, then shifted slightly so that he was pressing against the ring of her anus. The tight, delicious pleasure began to build as she slowly eased herself down on him. Ted closed his eyes, groaning as his hips bucked upwards in a sign of desperation.
‘Don’t!’ Gloria snapped. ‘I control you.’
Ted gasped, squeezing his eyes tight as he tried to regain control over himself. ‘Yes . . . God, yes, you magnificent woman . . .’
Gloria pushed down harder, allowing him to move into her centimetre by careful centimetre. There was no feeling in the world like the sensation of being so utterly full. She drew in a sharp breath and leaned forward, grasping Ted’s wrists and pinning them against the pillows. Slowly, she began moving up and down.
‘Say it,’ she whispered.
‘Aw, Gloria.’
‘Come on, baby. Just once.’
Ted cleared his throat. ‘The name is Bond. James Bond.’
The mere sound of the words caused Gloria’s sex to swell with moisture. She moaned and pressed her clit against him as she worked herself more fervently on his cock, imagining that it really was the British spy writhing underneath her. She threw her head back, thrilling in the thought as he filled her arse.
‘You can fuck me now,’ she gasped, feeling like her body had taken on a life of its own.
Desperate noises began to emerge from Ted’s throat as he started to thrust his hips up. A coil of tension built around Gloria’s lower body as she reacted to the intense stimulation. She rode him harder and faster, until they both broke through the wall of pressure and into a haze of pure ecstasy. Ted’s come filled Gloria in creamy jets, allowing her to slip easily off him.
Ted drew in a heaving breath, his eyes glazed as he absorbed the final twinges of pleasure. ‘Jesus, Gloria, no one fucks like you do.’
Gloria smiled and stroked her hand over his chest as her mind filled with images of spies, villains and lanky, big-breasted women. Such romance, such intrigue, such . . . hot sex. With a happy sigh, Gloria settled against her husband. There was nothing like sexual satisfaction.
Her thoughts returned to Callie and especially to what Callie had said about her sex life with Logan. So, the reason she left the man was simply due to a lack of response on Logan’s part? Maybe it wasn’t Logan’s fault at all. Maybe he just didn’t know how to relax enough to give a woman a really good fuck.
A great wave of charitable feelings towards Logan rose in Gloria’s heart. The poor man. With his looks and body, you’d think that fucking would come naturally to him, but apparently that wasn’t the case. And Callie wasn’t exactly one to help him out. No, Logan needed a wholly different kind of partner. Gloria stifled another chuckle as she realised that she was the perfect candidate for the job.
Chapter Three

W
here the hell is she?’ Fury seethed through Logan Waterford like fiery lava, but his tone remained icy and even. His grip tightened on the telephone receiver until he thought the thick plastic would shatter in his fist.
‘I don’t know.’ The voice on the other end sounded honeyed and utterly unperturbed, a fact that infuriated Logan all the more. Few things nettled him like nonchalance.
‘Don’t give me that shit,’ he said coldly. ‘You’re her sister. If anyone knows where she is, then you do.’
‘Well, Logan, I’m afraid I don’t,’ Gloria Harper replied. ‘Of course, she came to see me, but she refused to stay with me and Ted.’
‘Where did she go then?’
‘I already told you. I don’t know,’ Gloria repeated. ‘I pleaded with her to give me an address or phone number, but she kept it to herself. She did say she would contact me soon but, other than that, nothing.’
‘Why in the love of God wouldn’t she tell you?’
‘Probably because she knew you would come to me first,’ Gloria replied. ‘I suspect that means she doesn’t want you to find her.’
‘That’s ludicrous!’ Logan couldn’t comprehend the fact that Callie would willingly leave him. He’d thought she was nothing if not loyal. She would never betray him like this. ‘She’s my wife. Why wouldn’t she want me to find her?’
‘Logan, darling, she’s left you,’ Gloria said as if she were speaking to a child. ‘Isn’t that reason enough?’
‘No, dammit, that isn’t reason enough. She wouldn’t just up and leave without an explanation.’
‘Perhaps she already gave you an explanation.’
‘No, she didn’t.’
‘Maybe you just weren’t listening.’
Logan’s teeth snapped together. ‘What does that mean?’
‘Look, I’m no happier about this than you are,’ Gloria said. ‘I told her she couldn’t rationally do this. I mean, what about our reputations? For her to leave you is truly a travesty, but you know Callie. Once she sets her mind on something, it’s nearly impossible to dissuade her. And, believe me, Logan, I tried to do just that.’
‘Obviously, you didn’t succeed.’
‘I’m sure she’ll come back soon,’ Gloria assured him. ‘She’s going through a phase right now but, once she realises how idiotic she’s being, she’ll come back to you.’
‘Yes, well, I’m not about to sit around waiting for that to happen.’ Logan dropped the receiver back on to the telephone.
Jesus. Callie had left him. An explosion of fury rocketed through his body. He picked up a stone paperweight and hurled it against the wall. The stone narrowly missed an indecipherable landscape painting by a contemporary artist before falling with a thud to the floor. Spidery lines cracked through the plasterboard wall like the shell of a boiled egg.
Logan flexed the muscles of his hand. His blood went cold as he stared at the damage. If there was anything he hated more than being betrayed, then it was losing control, even for the briefest of moments.
‘Mr Waterford?’ A knock sounded at the door, and Logan’s secretary peeked in. ‘Is everything all right?’
‘Yes, Violet, just indulging in a little aesthetic criticism, that’s all.’
Violet glanced at the crooked painting before she nodded and slipped back out.
Logan dragged a hand through his hair and tried to think. So, maybe Callie had bitched and complained a little. He didn’t think she was unhappy enough to walk out on him. God knew he’d given her everything she ever wanted. Why would any woman walk away from that? But regardless of the reasons, Callie obviously had. Now how in the hell could he find her?
‘Logan.’ Another knock sounded at the door.
‘Come in.’
Adam Garabola, a thin, lanky man in his mid-twenties, poked his sandy blonde head in to the room. ‘Um, Logan, I have those case reports that you wanted.’
‘Well, don’t just stand there, bring them here.’
Adam shoved his glasses back up the bridge of his nose and entered the room. He wore a wrinkled, linen suit that looked as if it had been purchased at a discount store, but his scruffed shoes were polished to a shine.
Through narrowed eyes, Logan watched the man approach him. He could have done without Adam’s odd personality, but he knew that the younger man possessed a sharp intelligence that belied his eccentricity. That had been reason enough to hire him as a paralegal in the Waterford and Waterford law firm.
‘Close the door.’
Adam complied, then approached Logan’s desk. His gaze went to the large dent in the wall. ‘Uh, are you angry about something?’
‘You could say that.’ Logan peered at Adam. ‘What the hell is that in your eyebrow?’
Adam’s hand went to the silver ring above his left eye. ‘An earring. They’re really cool right now.’
‘Is that so? Well, I’m sure it will be really cool when it gets infected or some angry con reaches across the defence table and rips it off you. Besides, it looks stupid.’
‘You think so?’ Adam looked crushed. ‘I’ll take it off if you want me to.’
‘I couldn’t care less what you do.’
‘I got it done over the weekend at a science-fiction convention,’ Adam explained. ‘You should totally come with me to one of those. I bought a first edition Superman comic. Can you believe it?’
‘Fascinating.’
‘They’ll be there next weekend, too,’ Adam went on, looking at Logan hopefully. ‘Why don’t you come with me?’
‘No, thanks. I have other things on my mind.’
‘They have masquerade balls at night and everything,’ Adam said. His gaze slid down to Logan’s chest. ‘We could dress up as partners, like Batman and Robin. You’d look so fantastic in a Batman costume.’
Logan eyed the young man suspiciously. ‘Are you planning on growing up one of these days, or are you still going to be playing fantasy land when you’re old and grey and living in a nursing home?’
Hurt flashed in Adam’s eyes. ‘I just thought it might be fun, and –’
‘I said no,’ Logan snapped. ‘Now stop talking nonsense and sit down.’
Adam sighed and sat, clutching the folders to his chest. ‘I’ve been trying to find information about that case way back in ’76; you know, the one about the man who was prosecuted for hav –’
‘Adam, be quiet,’ Logan interrupted shortly as he turned over an idea in his mind. He still had to keep up with caseload and court appointments, but his priority was to find his wife. And, while he trusted very few people – if any – he did know that fear was a powerful method of obtaining a person’s devout loyalty. Pity he apparently hadn’t been able to instil that fear in Callie.
He reached for his Rolodex and flipped through it. ‘We used a private detective for the Grossman case. What was his name?’
‘Sam Houston, sir. He was very good.’
Logan found Houston’s card in the file. ‘All right, listen. I have a personal problem, but I don’t want anyone either in or out of the office to know about it. I’m going to tell you because I need someone to keep track of this detective’s activities. However, if I find out that you’ve told a soul, I’ll kick your arse clear out of the state. Is that clear?’
Adam stared wide-eyed at him for a moment before nodding. ‘Yes, sir. Crystal clear.’
