I hit the ground hard—harder than I had in years—but tried to roll to my feet nevertheless. Only Tyrell had somehow ended up on top of me, fist cocked back for what I knew would be a killing blow if I moved so much as an eyelash.

"I'm not going to let you kill him, Skye. I don't care how much he trusts you, this ends here."

I should've told him that I had no intention of killing Brennan, that hurting Brennan was the last thing on my mind, but I was too busy trying to reconcile all of the impossibilities I'd just been faced with.

Tyrell didn't have Jax's massive size and reach. In fact, he was only marginally taller than I was, which meant that any confrontation between us should've come down to nothing more than speed and experience. I'd been injected with cutting-edge nanites the likes of which this world had never seen before, which meant that the speed advantage should've been solidly on my side, but that hadn't been the case. Tyrell had practically flickered from one place to another so fast that I almost hadn't been able to even follow his movements, let alone counter his attacks.

I looked up at him and asked the one question I had to know before I died. "Who are you?"

"Unlike you, Skye, I've never lied to anyone inside the compound. My name really is Tyrell, but you would probably know me better as the Destroyer."

Acknowledgments:

Writing The Society involved venturing out into new ground. I've done a little bit of sci-fi writing, but by and large, my editors and advance readers haven't been exposed to that side of my writing. I was a little worried that some of them wouldn't make it through to the end of The Society, because it was so different from my other works. When you add in the fact that this was the first book where significant parts of it were dictated rather than typed, there was a lot more work at every level from editor through advance reader and Launch Team, but they all pulled through like champions. My editors, RJ Locksley and Amy Jirsa-Smith were as amazing as always and I'm very grateful for their help.

An equally heartfelt thanks needs expressed to my advance readers. Thank you, Mom, Dad, Matthew, Shalese, Lachele, Mimi, Mark, Kim, Janelle, Jenine, Mei and Heather.

I would also like to say thanks to Merissa at http://archaeolibrarianologist.blogspot.com/ for her ongoing efforts to get the word out about my books, all of the members of my Launch Team, and all of you readers who take the time to tell your friends and family about my books.

Finally, as always, the biggest thanks goes to my wife, Katie. A lot of things haven't gone according to plan this year, but we're still trucking along, releasing novels, and most of the thanks for that goes to Katie. Not only has she been my trusted first reader, she also did the breathtaking cover for The Society, and I'm grateful for that, and everything else she does. Thank you Katie!

About the Author:

Dean Murray is a prolific author with dozens of titles across multiple pen names and more than half a million copies of his work currently in circulation.

Dean started reading seriously in the second grade due to a competition and has spent most of the subsequent three decades lost in other people's worlds.

Things worsened, or improved depending on your point of view, when he first started experimenting with writing while finishing up his accounting degree. These days Dean has a wonderful wife and two lovely daughters to keep him more grounded than he used to be, but the idea of bringing others along with him as he meets interesting new people in universes nobody else has ever seen drags him back to his computer on a regular basis.

Reborn

True love never dies.

In just a few days a new arrival at Selene's high school will turn her entire world upside down. She's never met anyone so attractive—or so mysterious—before this, but Jace's unyielding insistence that they've known each other for decades can't be denied—not given how familiar he feels to her.

In the hidden world of gods and fairies what you don't know can get you killed faster than anything else and only those you love have any chance of saving you.

Broken

Sometimes love finds you when you aren't looking for it.

The accident that forced Adri and her mother to move to a new high school also cost Adri her dad and sister. Adri just wants to blend in and buy herself time to grieve, but two of the most popular, gorgeous guys in school are about to take an inexplicable interest in her.

Adri will be forced into a world where the players aren't all human. She will be forced to choose between Brandon and Alec, and this time the wrong choice could get her killed.

The Greater Darkness

(Writing as Eldon Murphy)

Something powerful is stirring in the darkness. Something so ancient that even creatures who've been alive for hundreds of years have long since discounted this new threat as nothing more than myth.

Normal humans will be caught in the crossfire, but then that's always the way of things. Geoffrey has no memory of his past life or any idea how to survive in the violent, dangerous world in which he's trapped. Despite his best efforts, he's about to find himself in the middle of a conflict that threatens to sweep away everything, and everyone he's been fighting so hard to protect.

Bound

The only thing worse than having no family at all, is having a family that is out to hurt you. That would all be bad enough for a normal 17-year-old, but it's even worse for Alec Graves. A shape shifter's pack, his family, is the only thing stopping the other preternatural creatures out there from killing them.

Alec's pack isn't just neglectful, he's pretty sure that his father wants him dead. Alec is about to be sent to the front lines of a war between his people and everything else that goes bump in the night. His only chance of survival is to convince everyone around him that he's the perfect soldier, but there are lines that Alec won't cross, not for any price.

Publisher's Note:
Dean Murray's ongoing Reflection Series has been a stunning success with hundreds of thousands of copies in circulation, and a rich, complex world where choices—right or wrong—have real, profound consequences. Unsatisfied with the restrictions imposed on him by writing inside of the conventional series structure, Dean has returned to Sanctuary and the characters so many fans have fallen in love with.

Bound is the first in Dean's new Dark Reflections novels, an alternate timeline set in the same world and featuring many of the same characters, but with a profoundly different backstory.

Dean finally answers many of the questions that his most dedicated readers have been asking themselves for years. What would have happened if Alec's father hadn't been murdered by the Coun'hij, how would Adri's life have changed if her family hadn't been shattered in a horrific accident?

The answers may surprise you, but one thing is for sure; you'll see new sides of familiar faces and when all is said and done, you'll never be able to look at some of them the same.

Frozen Prospects

The invitation to join the secretive Guadel should have been the fulfillment of dreams Va'del didn't even realize he had. When his sponsors are killed in an ambush a short time later, he instead finds his probationary status revoked, and becomes a pawn between various factions inside the Guadel ruling body.

Jain's never known any life but that of a Guadel in training. She'd thought herself reconciled to the idea of a loveless marriage for the good of her people, but meeting Va'del changes everything. Their growing attraction flies against hundreds of years of precedent, but as wide-spread attacks threaten their world, the Guadel have no choice but to use even Jain and Va'del in their fight for survival.
