“What kind of sign is it?”
He lays the feather on the bed and kisses the tip of my nose. “It’s a sign that it’s time to step out of the darkness and into the light.”
I tighten my arms around his neck and plant a kiss on his scruffy jaw. “Well, how about we keep one foot in the light and the other in the dark, just in case.”
He chuckles. “Sounds like a plan. So what do you want to do after the beach?”
He slides into me and I let out a long sigh. “Oh, God.” He moves in and out of me and I try to think of a response to his question, but he’s making it very difficult. “How about… how about we… look for real estate on the internet?”
He laughs so hard he almost chokes. “Oh,
chérie
, you always know what to say to get me excited.”
“That excites you?”
“Oh, yes.”
“How do you feel about minivans?”
“Oh, yes. Love them,” he says as he lifts my leg and pierces me deeper. “Keep going.”
I laugh as I rake my nails over the backs of his shoulders. “Soccer practice and carpools and date night.”
Suddenly, he stops moving and looks me in the eye. “Stop right there. There will be no date night. When I want you, I’ll have you.
Any
night of the week. Understood?”
I smile and nod. “Yes, Mr. Rousseau. No date night.”
He thrusts into me a few more times before he lets go inside me. He releases my thigh and I seize the opportunity to wrap both my legs around his hips so he can’t pull out of me.
With his elbows resting on either side of my head, he strokes my hair away from my face as he looks down at me. “What would I do without you?”
I look into his eyes, relishing the sensation of his breath on my face for a moment before I answer. “Without the darkness, there would be no light.”
