Instead of giving him a verbal response, Lauren carefully stood up on the tips of her toes and planted a firm kiss, coaxing his lips open as her mouth moved against his. He didn’t hesitate in reciprocating, quickly relaxing into the kiss. He pulled her body flush against his, just enjoying the feeling of having her in his arms.

After a few moments, they broke apart, though not moving away from each other. He leaned his forehead against hers and took in a deep breath before opening his eyes, finding her own gaze locked on him. “Only we would end up having a serious conversation while naked in the shower,” he quipped, trying to lighten the mood.

“Eh,” she shrugged. “After using ice cubes during foreplay, I think it’s safe to say that anything’s possible between us.”

The two shared a chuckle, both silently thinking that if they could keep this easygoing attitude between them while they explored the new development to their relationship, then they may have a better chance than they originally thought.

Matthew quirked his eyebrow when he felt her shiver in his arms. “You cold?”

“A bit,” Lauren confessed. “I think I’ve have enough cooling down.”

“Then let’s get you warmed up again.”

“Hey you two,” Michelle greeted as Matthew and Lauren walked into the office. “Do you feel that? Air conditioning!”

“Yes!” Lauren said giddily, pumping her fist in the air as she made a beeline to her table.

“You two are lucky,” the receptionist mused. “I think the repair man left just 20 minutes ago so there’s been time for the room to get cool, while I had to sit here building up my bicep as I fanned myself.”

“You can always sit outside and use your other arm if you want to make it even,” Matthew joked.

“Very funny,” Michelle said dryly. “Anyway, how long did you guys stay in this hell hole yesterday?”

“Til 3,” he said distractedly as he rifled through the mail that was sitting on top of her desk.

“I commend you both for managing to stay alive and avoiding having to kill each other out of the sheer annoyance that the heat brought.”

“Alright, drama queen,” Lauren called from across the room, an amused grin on her face. “It wasn’t that bad.”

“What do you mean it wasn’t that bad?” the receptionist asked incredulously. “Please, honey, get off it. I saw all the ice cube trays emptied out on the kitchen counter when I opened up shop this morning. What did you do? Stuff them down your shirt?”

The two architects shared a knowing glance, thankful that Michelle had gotten distracted by the ringing of the phone to not notice the blush that crept up on both their faces.

Matthew had made his way over to his desk by then, trying in vain to suppress a chuckle as he sat down. Lauren eyed him curiously, pressing her lips together firmly when he readjusted the angle of his work table. She bit down on her lip as memories of the past day crept back up in her mind, her blush going deeper as images of what they had done on that very table replayed in her head. He sent her a sly wink as he went about setting his project up.

After a night of exploring the possibilities with talks and a few more physical activities, they had both decided to keep things between themselves for the meantime. With the first real test of facing Michelle already behind them, both had gotten to think that keeping their relationship a secret seemed to be exciting.

“You know, my shower can go up to scalding temperatures too,” Matthew said under his breath, a smirk tugging up at the corner of his mouth.

“Yeah, but I can do you one better,” Lauren teased. “I have a hot tub on my deck.”

“Your place tonight, then?”

“Sure. You can forget your swim trunks. Clothing is totally optional.”

“Guys,” Michelle called out, pulling them back to reality. “Two appointments, one at 11 and another at 2.”

“Back to work.”
Your Own Devices

Jack Miller stood off to one corner of the bustling room, offering a small smile or a mumbled hello at the people who greeted him. Parties like these, ones that put together a large group of people mainly for rubbing elbows and showing off what the host had, were never really his thing. But his boss had insisted that he come for one reason or the other. He never really paid attention as to what after the particular detail that it was being held at the executive’s mansion.

He lifted his glass of scotch to hide the smirk that tugged at his lips at the thoughts of what made him come to the party, knowing it had very little to do with what his boss wanted. No, he was quite sure that his reasons would be the furthest things from what Patrick Sinclair would find favorable. In fact, Jack was sure he’d be skinned alive if his boss ever got the idea in his head as to what he was really doing in his home.

Speaking of his boss, Jack eyed the middle aged man from where he stood, his eyebrows disappearing into his hairline as he watched his boss laugh loudly while talking to some executive he had been introduced to earlier. Patrick had been throwing back drinks ever since the party had started, perhaps even before that. He shook his head, knowing that it will only take a few more glasses before the man would find himself passed out in some corner of the house while his guests milled about. He was quite certain that very few of them actually cared for the host, but parties in the Sinclair household always boasted of a great time once Patrick had decided to leave them alone, whether to nag on some other poor sap or finally succumbing to a drunken stupor.

As for him, he was fine just keeping to himself until he found something more interesting to give his attention to. He scanned the expanse of the room and let out a frustrated sigh. Flicking his wrist to get a glance at the time on his watch, he wondered what was taking so long. He jumped a bit when a server had passed him, offering another drink. Jack put his empty glass on the tray and picked up another, mumbling a thank you before his eyes roamed around the room once again.

He was getting more and more impatient as the seconds ticked by, beginning to think it was a waste of time for him to have even attended the party when his target apparently had no intention of showing up. But as the thought crossed his mind, he quickly got an idea in his head. Shifting his gaze back to Patrick, he contemplated his next move. Tipping his head back, Jack swallowed the contents of his glass in one huge gulp, not even wincing as the alcohol burned his throat.

He started to walk in the direction of the foyer, hoping to make it up the stairs with no one paying him any mind. Patrick’s loud laughter rang out once again, causing him to roll his eyes. He doubted that whatever it was that the man was laughing about was even funny, hearing no other sounds of uproar from the guests. He shook his head, a determined look crossing his features as he set on his destination, hoping to find a much more enjoyable way to spend his time at the party than listening to his boss’ obnoxious laugh.

He offered polite smiles to the people who met his eye as he walked past, not wanting to bring unnecessary attention to himself and having them ask just where he was headed. No, it would be a terrible thing for that to happen. He tried to appear as nonchalant as possible, a far cry from the excitement that had slowly been building in him since the second he had stepped through the front door.

Jack managed to slip out of the room and away from the party, his legs seeming to have a mind of their own as he started to ascend the steps that would bring him closer to his destination. He kept his sights on the second floor landing, not bothering to look around if anyone had looked at him and began wondering exactly why he was headed upstairs. He began to think that none of them really cared, or that they’d probably give him a huge pat on the back for having the audacity to do what he was planning on doing with Patrick in the same house. He smirked when the thought crossed his mind. It wasn’t the first time that it had happened and he was almost certain that it wasn’t going to be the last.

“I figured you’d be in here,” he spoke lowly into the quietness of the room, his voice barely above a whisper as if he was telling some secret no one else can know about. He tapped his fingers against the doorframe and waiting for the petite redhead to turn from her vanity table and face him.

Her gaze moved over to his form through the mirror as she ran a hairbrush through her long curly locks. Having received no initial reaction, he stepped further into the room, making sure that the door was locked as it shut behind him. The laughter of the guests and loud music sounded muffled as he shut them out. He knew that he shouldn’t be upstairs, let alone in her room, but he needed to find her. Her eyes were glued to his reflection, following his every move as he stepped closer to her. She couldn’t miss the salacious smirk that tugged up at his lips. He gently placed his large hands on her shoulders, half-expecting her to flinch at his touch. But she let out a long and steady breath instead, as if having the contact brought her a sense of calm.

Her breath caught in her throat however when she felt him pinch the silk of her robe between his fingers, his smirk growing into a grin when he noticed how it was unfastened. All she wore under the robe was her best set of lingerie. His eyes shone brightly, thinking that she purposely stayed in her state of undress, knowing that he would come and look for her when she hadn’t made any sort of grand entrance at the party going in full swing just a floor below them.

He watched her apply a thin coat of vivid red lipstick and then reach for a tissue to blot away the excess. She looked incredibly hard to please as she sat stiffly, one slender leg crossed over the other. A stern expression was all that was settled on her features, a mask of indifference as she tried not to give away how it was she truly felt. With a quick snap of his wrists, the robe fell from her body, draping carelessly in the chair. He kissed her shoulder slowly before his lips made a path up her neck. An unexpected moan fell from her lips. He glanced upwards at the sound, meeting her gaze through the reflection on the mirror and giving her a suggestive wink before giving back his attention to his assault on her neck.

“We can’t be doing this,” she whispered. She had hoped to be more authoritative in her delivery but her voice had sounded more desperate than she had wanted. “There are people downstairs, one of which happens to be my husband. The last word was punctuated to emphasize the danger of the situation. “Need I remind you that he’s also your boss?”

She felt the vibrations his chuckle had caused across her skin, his lips barely a breath away from her body. “The party is in full swing, sweetheart. I’m sure that it’ll take just one more glass of whiskey before he ends up asleep on the kitchen table.”

She rolled her eyes, knowing that it was exactly like her husband to be halfway past drunk not even an hour into the party. He never did handle his alcohol very well but she knew not to interfere with his habit. It was best for her to just let him drink himself to a stupor and have him pass out somewhere in the house. Leaving him to his own devices when drunk didn’t make her feel guilty in the slightest. In fact, it was the farthest thing from her mind at the moment.

She stood up abruptly, picking up her discarded robe and rushed across the bedroom to neatly hang it on the back of the en suite door. His hand shot out to curl around her wrist, stopping her from getting too far away from him. The robe fell to a heap on the floor. “Jack,” she trailed off, a quite moan escaping her.

“Tell me to stop and I will,” he taunted, unfastening the top few buttons on his shirt with his free hand as he spoke. She would give in to him eventually, she always did. Her chest rose and fell sharply as she heaved a sigh – a sign of defeat if he ever saw one. It took just one step for him to find himself standing beside her, another smirk on his lips. “You can’t do it, can you, Marie?”

His palm pressed flat against her toned stomach before it went lower to the thin band of her black lace panties. With another step, he closed the gap between them, pressing their bodies closer together. His grey trousers got tighter as his member grew harder just at the feeling of her body heat seeping into his skin. She stood frozen, powerless to his advances. Her hand relaxed and fell limp against the top of one of her thighs as his other hand snaked around her waist and kept her in place. He pressed his lips to her ear, his hot breath fanning against her skin, his voice heavy with lust.

“Don’t move, love.”

She whimpered in response. It was pretty clear that she wasn’t going to go anywhere and he was fully aware of the fact. His fingers traced her smooth skin, confidently trailing lower and dipping into her underwear. She threw her head back against his shoulder as he rubbed his fingers over her clit before pulling away briefly, only to travel lower and feel her wet folds. He smirked against her neck, leaving a trail of hot kisses over her skin while he continued his slow ministrations to her delicate flesh.

She grabbed onto the hand which held her, her long nails raking along the back of it, leaving angry red marks. He watched her intently, paying particular attention to her mouth. Her face was easy to read. He could tell that the pleasure was building up as she alternated between parting her lips to draw in a ragged breath of air and sinking her teeth into her bottom lip to stifle her moans and whimpers.

“You like that, don’t you?” he asked gruffly.

She could only muster a nod in response as he continued to stroke her, feeling his hard cock pressing into the small of her back. He bit into the flesh of her neck, leaving sharp marks on her skin. Her legs parted involuntarily, giving him more access as she relaxed against his muscled body, groaning at his animalistic tendencies.

The pace of his hand slowed considerably, almost stopping completely. She gripped his wrist, pushing his hand down on her harder and pulling it up just as quick, forcing him to create a fast rhythm. The next thing she heard was him clucking his tongue against the roof of his mouth and pulling his hand completely away from her. He quickly gripped her chin and roughly pushed her head backwards.

“Play nice,” he chastised. Though his tone sounded somewhat playful, she could see the seriousness in his eyes.

His mouth covered hers, immediately quieting her as she tried to make any protest. As his tongue pushed past the seam of her lips, his hands stroked up her sides and deftly unclasped her bra. The straps fell halfway down her arms. He pulled away to let her catch her breath and turned her around in his strong arms. She let her hands fall to her sides, her bra falling away completely from her body and landed on the carpet next to her robe.

Marie looked up at him, a small smile on her lips. She couldn’t deny how amazing he made her feel, satisfying the needs that her husband just couldn’t fulfill when it came to both an intelligent conversation and a physical relationship. Their sordid lover affair had begun just a few months prior, ironically at another party her husband had hosted to rub elbows with businessmen he had come to know, but she was already certain that the feelings she felt towards Jack were much stronger than her marriage could ever hope to be. Any chance they had, he would steal a kiss, touch her hand, tell her what he wanted to do to her when they got a spare minute. Sneaking around with him was a huge adrenaline rush for her. It was naughty, exciting and addicting – things she had never felt about anything else before.

She reached out to him, quickly unfastening the rest of the buttons on his shirt before pushing the cotton material off his broad shoulders. His skin was hot t the touch as her nimble fingers delicately traced the indents of his muscles as he stared down at her. He gripped her wrists suddenly, pulling her hands away from him. Her emerald eyes darted to his sapphire ones. His gaze was filled with humor and mischief while hers were darkened with lust.

He leaned down to press a wet kiss against her throat before dipping his head lower to run his tongue over her hardening nipples. She moaned, combing her fingers through his dark hair as he squeezed one breast in his palm while his mouth suckled at the other. Spurred on by her favorable reactions, he made sure to pay equal attention to each breast, repeating his actions until they were both satisfied.

He continued on a trail of kisses down her lithe frame, finally getting down to his knees and grasping her hips with his hands to pull her even closer. She gasped when his lips connected with her lace-covered heat, the simple action driving her up the wall. He flicked his tongue out to tease her for a fleeting moment, almost as if he was testing her wills, before standing up again to step out of his shoes and pulling his socks soon after.
