“You
like this,” Gage told her. “Tell me you like this.”

Nooo
,” Amelia groaned and shook her head back and forth. “I
can’t. I can’t.”

“You
can and you will. Tell me,” Gage demanded.

Still
she shook her head.

Gage
pulled out so only his tip was inside her puckered hole.

“No,
please. I’m so close. Please,” she begged.

“Please
what?” Gage taunted her. He was demanding she ask for what he so willingly
gave. He would make certain she wanted this. He would make her admit to it
aloud.

Resigned
and desperate, Amelia asked, “Please fuck my ass. Come inside me. Claim me.”

With
another smooth thrust, he was back inside her. Then he was pumping in and out.
They were both reaching for their releases. Gage’s
entire body tightened as he forced himself in and out of her with all his power
and strength.

Feeling her orgasm rushing to the
surface, Amelia spoke softly, “I need you. I can’t ever be without you.” She
was completely overwhelmed by his presence so fully around her.

“You’ll never be without me,” Gage
promised as he pinched her clit and gave a final press into her. She felt his
cum rush out of him and into her, filling her with warmth.

Amelia let go and her orgasm claimed
her. She screamed and grabbed onto the sheets below her as she pressed her ass
into Gage’s thighs. Panting and complete, she collapsed onto the bed.

Chapter Seven

Gage drew a bath while Amelia rested in
their bed. He’d used her hard. He’d needed to feel her so completely that he’d
pushed her. She hadn’t resisted, but a twinge of guilt racked him still at the
ferocity of his need for her. It had been hell to be away from her, to hear
about the betrayal of her supervisor and the kidnapping of her sister while not
being able to be sure she was safe. Caring for her now in this small way—bathing
her—would assuage his guilt over riding her hard.

While the water filled the tub with scented
bubbles, Gage carried Amelia and stepped into the tub with her still in his
arms. He sat and held her to him. Limply, Amelia rested her head on his
shoulder and moaned ever so softly as he sponged the sweat from her body.

“You are so beautiful, so right for me.”
Gage murmured reassurances, not sure if they were for her or for himself. “I
will always be here to protect you.
Always.”

Amelia stirred and looked up at him. “I
know, Gage, and I trust you.”

He pulled her tight and placed a soft
kiss on her nose. How much he adored his mate. He was more smitten than he’d ever
believed he could be in a woman. For them to be part of this incredible
prophecy was more than he’d ever imagined for
himself
.

Her voice brought him out of his
reverie. “Will you tell me what you know? Your father told all of us about Dr.
Whitner but there were no details. And then when we discovered Sadie missing,
we heard nothing.”

“I’m so sorry, sweetheart. Every TEU
agent was sent out immediately. Only Madden and I returned to the compound. Dr.
Whitner is being held for questioning. Lucas believes he may be able to
leverage her life for information which can end this group trying to create
their own Breeds.”

“So it’s true. They are trying to create
Breeds.”

“Yes. All the data we’ve collected this
past year leaves no doubt.”

“Oh Goddess, no,” Amelia gasped. “I
helped them, didn’t I? I gave them the formula for the serum.” Amelia’s body
tensed and her words became frantic. “I knew it but no one would confirm it.”

“Hey. Stop right there. You didn’t do
this on purpose. And I’m going to fix it. TEU won’t stop until these bastards
are all eliminated.” Gage purposely spoke in a voice filled with conviction
despite his own concerns. He wanted Amelia to hear only confidence. That was
who he needed to be for her.

Amelia sat silent, shaking her head and
looking away from him. Gage couldn’t stand the pain he felt radiating from her.

“Look at me,” Gage turned her face to
him. “Had Dr. Whitner not agreed to work with them, your research wouldn’t be
used for this. Your intentions were pure. You have no blame in this.”

Amelia didn’t look convinced.

“Nod your head at me to tell me you
understand,” he
demanded,
his voice stern. “You have
to believe that.”

“I was selfish. Being angry that there
were no choices for women in the
Magdalena
Circle
drove me. It always comes back to my damn anger. Don’t you see that?
It’s never going away. Never,” Amelia shouted, growing more frustrated with
each word.

“We will put an end to that. Once we
celebrate our Pronouncement and receive that blessing, you’ll be released from
the hold of your soul sin.” Gage rubbed her arms and pulled her into him again.
He resumed sponging her body with the warm water to help her relax. “I promise
you.” Goddess, did he hope that was a promise he could keep.

After long moments of silence, her next
question was more difficult to make promises about. “What about Sadie? Will she
be safe?”

“We sent ten TEU agents to retrieve her.
Granger, the other weapons specialist and a damn amazing sniper, was sent with
the group so we can take out the people that might have her without having any
harm come to her.”

“You didn’t answer my question,” Amelia
reminded him. Gage didn’t need the reminder. He knew all too well that he
couldn’t promise Sadie would be safe. He just had to have faith in his
brothers-in-arms.

“The sooner we get to her, the better.
They’re doing everything they can to ensure she’s safe. Honestly, we still had
no confirmation she’d been taken by Nassir’s group. The first step was for them
to figure that out and to do that, we needed feet on the ground. It wasn’t
anything we could determine remotely.”

“When will we know?”

“Madden will call me as soon as the
report comes in. He knows you’ll be waiting to hear.”

“Until then?”

“Until then, we spend as much time as we
can together. Our blood levels need to balance out before either of us will be
any good to anyone.”

“I’m so glad you’re back now. I wasn’t
doing well.”

“I know.” Gage ran his hands along her
body to soothe away the tension in her muscles. His hands roamed from the swell
of her breasts along the curve of her stomach to the slope of her ass.

“How did you know?”

“Mamma called Madden to tell him I
needed to get back.” Gage kissed the tip of her nose again, something he was
very much becoming fond of. Then he lifted her into his arms to take her out of
the tub, set her down, and dried her.

Light sparks snapped from her skin as he
ran his fingers over her. She groaned and his cock sprang to life with renewed
interest. Gage carried her to the bed and laid her down so her legs hung from
the bottom of the bed and onto the floor. With a single stroke of his finger,
he felt her wetness. She was as ready for this as he was. Thank the Goddess.

Standing between her legs, her drew her
knees wider and entered her fully in a single, steady push. When Amelia shifted
her hips below him and moaned, Gage was lost in her. Her legs were spread on
either side of his hips and his shaft was still buried deep in her core. Amelia
rotated her hips and squeezed her inner muscles. Goddess, Gage could stay here
forever. He never wanted to leave his mate again.

Gage looked down at Amelia. Her long
curls scattered across her narrow shoulders. She looked up at him as if he were
someone special and important. He wanted to be worthy of that. He’d never
wanted anything more. She was his perfection and he would be that for her.

When she tilted her pelvis, his cock
brushed her clit each time he thrust in and out. He saw it in the fluttering of
her eyes as he set a slow, steady rhythm. Her labored breathing matched his as she
pushed upward to meet his thrusts. Together, they created a sizzling friction. In
this single moment, nothing existed outside of them.

Just as his body began to tense and his
cock had swelled to capacity, he felt the desire inside her reach a boiling
point. She tossed her head in abandon and Gage allowed himself to fall with her.
Her need, just as much as his own, coursed through his veins. No words were necessary.
Their connection was solid. Regardless how they’d started and how he’d nearly
screwed it up, Gage would forevermore appreciate this woman. He vowed it to
himself and to his mate.

“Yes,” Amelia answered as if she’d heard
his thoughts. Shit, Gage realized she did. How could he have forgotten? The
emotional connection of their mating overwhelmed him once again. This bond all
Valendite Breeds share with their mates was an incredible experience.

“Oh Goddess, Gage, I feel it too. I need
you just as much. Forever,” Amelia cried out as she took her release. With their
bodies joined at the warm, wet core of her body, they couldn’t have been closer
than in this moment.

As he dropped on top of her and rolled them so she was cuddled into his
side, Gage swore he heard her whisper
I
love you
before he felt her twitch and drift off to sleep. There was
nothing but their damp, clammy skin between them. He couldn’t think of anything
better than this moment. He didn’t deserve such happiness.

Ti
amo
,”
he whispered into her hair.

Ti
amo
, mi Amelia
.”

Gage wanted to beat his
chest and shout from the mountaintops when he heard the soft sigh of
satisfaction from his mate. All his instincts to protect and care for someone
surfaced as he drank in his mate’s body entwined with his. She belonged to him
now. Goddess, she truly was his.

* * * *

“It’s nice to have the seamstress here this afternoon to adjust the
dress. You’re a bit more petite than I was when I had my Pronouncement,” Chiara
told her.

Amelia stood in the three-fold mirror admiring the heirloom. She was so
happy to be wearing her mother’s gown. As the eldest daughter, it was an honor.
This gown went as far back as four generations and was made from the finest
Italian laces. The regal red was nearly purple and it shimmered with timeless
beauty.

With the worry over Sadie still hanging over them, the day was far from perfect
though. Amelia just continued to pray Sadie would be back in time for her
Pronouncement in two days. She didn’t want to have it without each of her
sisters present and she worried, despite what Gage told her, about the rescue
mission to bring Sadie home. By simple deduction, Amelia knew the goal of the
group they believe took Sadie would be to kill her. It was the only sure way to
keep the prophecy from coming true. Goddess, she couldn’t think of that
happening.

Davina, Gage’s sister, left the sitting area where the other women
talked and walked over to her. “She’ll be home in time.”

Amelia looked at Davina with a raised brow.

Davina shrugged. “I know things.
Sometimes.”
She seemed embarrassed. “Anyway, I wanted you to know that she’ll be home.”

“How?”
Amelia wasn’t sure how to finish her question. She didn’t know what to
ask.

“I don’t know. It’s just something that began happening when I turned
the age of maturity. I don’t like to talk about it or people will think I’m a
freak but this time, I wanted you to know.”

Amelia stepped towards Davina, drew her into an embrace and thanked her.
“Thank you so much for telling me. I won’t speak of it to anyone else.” Amelia
owed her this promise for the gift she’d just given her.

Davina nodded and then smiled a mischievous grin. “Want to know another
secret?”

“Maybe,” Amelia answered, uncertain.

“Your niece will be at your Pronouncement too.” Davina winked and walked
over to talk with Gracie, leaving Amelia both stunned and excited by the news.
A giggle escaped and caught everyone’s attention.

“Sorry,” Amelia looked sheepishly, “Just getting excited seeing the
dress.”

“So, you’re excited now? We weren’t sure how it was going for you and
Gage and you hadn’t said much.” Eloise asked.

“It’s good.” Amelia blushed.

“How good?”
Gemma asked.

Paige hit Gemma with her shoulder. “Knock it off. It’s personal and
you’re embarrassing her.”

“Still, he shoots you and then you find out he’s your mate. That had to
be a good story.” Eloise said. “You have to be laughing at it now. I just want
to know how much you made him work for it after that major mistake.”

The seamstress told Amelia she was done and could take off the dress
whenever she was ready. She packed her things away and left the room. Amelia
would’ve been happy to do the same thing given the line of questioning.
