"Ah Mr. Davis. So glad you made it." Slade said. "I was worried with your injury and loss of blood that you may not pull through, but again you surprise me."

"What happened? Why am I in here?" Rick answered in a croak, his throat dry.

"You don't remember?" Slade asked walking around the table to face Rick.

"No." He said.

"Your friend Remington came in to rescue you. He killed a lot of my guards."

"Remington?" Rick asked, his memory a black void.

"Yes, it seems he found someone else he'd rather have. A woman. The woman you shared your cell with. Ms. Porter. He left you and took her. Not a great friend after all."

Rick had no idea who this man was or what he was talking about. "I don't know you. I can't remember how I got here. Why am I here? Was I injured?"

"You had to have your knee replaced. Dr. Morgan did a fine job, I must say." Slade tapped Ricks rebuilt knee and it made a metallic sound. "I figured why you were unconscious we may as well give you your alteration." An evil smile spread across Slade’s face.

"Alteration?" Rick asked. "What's an alteration?"

"Oh, you'll find out soon enough. Temporary memory loss is sometimes a side affect. You should come to your senses soon." Slade answered. "And if you don't, well that's even better." He chuckled. "I was told by one of the guards your pal Remington left alive, that this is not over, and he will be back. Guess he's too late to save you now, and to think he chose a woman over his best friend." Slade let out a maniacal laugh and left the room.
