Over time, my emotions have changed from being incensed to disappointment – disappointed that the truth had not been told from the very beginning, that the grieving relatives of those who’d perished had not been shown this final dignity. Instead, they and everyone else were led to believe that those who had died were the victims of a rogue storm,

The tragedy of 10 May 1996 was a cruel blow to the families and friends of those killed, injured, traumatised or otherwise affected by these events. All were victims to a varying degree and suffered pain and anguish as a result of that disatrous time. Through my own personal journey, I have now come to terms with that fateful day on Everest. However, I have also come to the understanding that as catastrophic as 10 May 1996 might have been, those who knew of the earlier forecasts and have not placed the full facts clearly and unambiguously in their subsequent accounts had delivered the cruellest blow of all. For without the truth, victims can have no meaningful foundation from which their healing process might begin.
