But it wasn’t that,
she thought.

All the twenty-eight frogs she had dated – she had known everything about them, from their bloodlines down to their passport numbers because she had been nothing but thorough in trying to find the
ideal
person to fall in love with.

And what did those things get her?

Her brain knew those men, but her heart had not. With Nik, it was the opposite. She didn’t have all the facts yet, but that didn’t matter, not when her heart knew him.

Beside her, Nik stirred, and when she looked back at him, she saw his eyes drifting open. “Hey,” she whispered. The brooding look in his gaze made her smile uncertain. There were so many times she had caught him looking at her like this, like he didn’t know what to do with her. And all those times, she had been so afraid, wondering if that would be the time he’d realize he was the prince and she was the frog, and it would be all over.

“Have you been awake all this time?”

Nik still hadn’t returned her smile. At her nod, he said, “You’ve been staring at me all this while?”

Daria nodded again, even though his words hadn’t been a question.

“Why?”

“Because…” Daria’s brain cautioned her not to continue, and so did her heart. Both of them told her to play it safe.

She didn’t.

“I don’t know if it’s a good thing you make me so happy.”

Nik didn’t answer, but his grip on her hand tightened, and somehow she felt that was enough…for now. Chewing on her lip, she blurted out, “My return ticket’s for tomorrow.”

Nik’s eyes became hooded. “I see.”

She wanted to tell him to ask her to stay, but she managed not to. Whatever it was they had now, she had been the one who had often made the first move. People would probably think she was shameless for that, but she didn’t care. She was done being ashamed about what she did for love. She loved, and when she loved, she wanted to give it her all.

But there were also things that she shouldn’t
force.

So she made herself wait.

A full minute had passed before Nik spoke again.

“I want you to stay longer.” His voice was rough, possessive.

Oh.

Tears stung her eyes. “I thought you’d offer to drive me to the airport or something.” The sob she had locked in her throat made Daria choke on the words, and she furiously punched him on the shoulder. “Why did it take you so long to say it?”

“I wanted to give you time.” Nik’s voice was flat.

She shook her head, confused. “Time for what?”

“You know we are different.” Personal honor forbade Nik from lying outright, but his desire for revenge ensured he didn’t stray from the path he had chosen.

He would have Daria falling for him, and he would discard her afterwards, the same way she no doubt planned to do the same with him, the same way she had done with all the other men in her past.

When he saw Daria still looking at him, he continued in a hard voice, “I won’t be able to give you the things you are used to.”

He moved before she could answer, and Daria swallowed when she found herself trapped underneath Nik’s powerful body.

Nik’s gaze captured hers. “But I will be able to give you what you
need.
What you
deserve
.”

Her breath caught at the promise in his words, and she whispered shakily, “I’ll stay. I won’t change my mind.” She gulped in air, feeling like she was about to fall off the highest cliff.

Up, down, up, down, up, down—

Daria placed her hands on his chest, her head swimming as she felt the way his heart thudded. Her hands moved up, past his shoulders, before linking behind his neck.

“I want to be with you.”

With those words, she fell.

Miranda Dawson answered his call at the first ring, like she always had. “Hello, darling.”

Over the years, Nik and his first lover had become good friends, and since last year the petite, blue-eyed blonde had become his full-time mistress.

“Did I catch you at a bad time?” Nik kept an eye at the open bedroom door as he spoke, making sure he hadn’t inadvertently woken Daria up.

Miranda laughed. “Even if I’m scheduled for back-to-back meetings, you know I’d drop them all for you.”

Nik knew that the part about back-to-back meetings could be true. Following the amicable end of her tenure as a former senator’s mistress, Miranda had used her “payoff” to start her own business. Now, she was a millionaire in her own right, a self-made entrepreneur who graced magazine covers ranging from Wall Street Journal to Cosmo.

“You should drop them,” Nik agreed dryly. “I pay you well enough to afford to not work a day in your life and still be able to live comfortably.”

Miranda acknowledged the truth in his statement with a tinkling laugh. “Exactly.” In spite of her personal wealth, Miranda still liked selling her sexual favors.
Why turn down easy money
had been her reason when Nik asked her about it prior to their arrangement. The answer had suited him perfectly, and he had agreed to make her his on-call lover since then.

“Anything you want me to do?”

“Yes, actually,” Nik said finally, “but it’s somewhat unorthodox.” He relayed his need in unequivocal terms. “Naturally, I will take care of all the expenses.”

“Naturally,” she agreed.

“Is that a yes then?”

“I wouldn’t ever dream of refusing.” She paused. “But as we’ve broached the subject, I would like to offer a proposal of my own.”

She spoke, he listened, and throughout it, all Nik could think about was that there was no turning back this time.

Chapter Four

“Oh my God, who would have thought you’d hate snorkeling this much?” If they had been out of the water, Daria would have doubled over in laughter, her mind filled with images of Nik with a disgusted look on his face the first time he had fish eating crumbs of bread from his hand.

Pulling off the mouthpiece of his gear, Nik only shot Daria a forbidding look in response, his gorgeous face unsmiling.

It only made her laugh harder.

“Shut up.” His tone was a mixture of annoyance and amusement.
No one had ever laughed at him before
, Nik thought. No one except Daria, so why the hell didn’t the fact make him angry?

As Daria dove back into the water, still without the lifejacket that their guides had implored her to take, Nik found himself brooding at all the things he had never done in his life but had ended up doing with her.

He had never held a woman’s hand while walking, especially not in public. He had never eaten anywhere except in restaurants where his privacy could be guaranteed. He had never let a woman stay the night with him, not even Miranda, and yet tonight would be Daria’s fourth night in his room.

Too many damn firsts,
Nik thought. He had to—

Daria suddenly popped out in front of him, making Nik jerk in surprise.

Daria grinned. “Oh my God, did I scare you?” She planted her hands on his shoulders even as she laughed.

Glaring, he tried to disentangle himself from her, but she only shook her head, still laughing. Ignoring his struggles, she moved close, her legs wrapping around his waist under the water while her arms went around his neck.

He stopped struggling.

There were still other guests snorkeling around them, and if he pulled away, those underwater would have a close-up view of his erection.

“Provocative little vixen,” he muttered even as he pulled her tighter towards him. With his lifejacket on, he was able to carry her weight as he swam away from the others.

When he stopped, Daria only grinned up at him. “I can feel your cock,” she whispered teasingly. And as if wanting to emphasize it, she locked her legs more tightly around his waist and started grinding herself against him.

Daria, dammit.
” But even as he stiffened and tried to keep her hips still, the heat in his cock only pulsated more demandingly, as if wanting to meet Daria’s thrusting hips with its own thrusts.

Finding Daria’s eyes clouded with the same desire that was messing up his head, Nik was unable to help it. His hips pumped forward, causing his cock to press hard against her folds.

Daria whimpered.

Nik cursed under his breath.

Her eyes clung to his. “I want you, Nik.”

Again, his hips reacted before his brain could consider its actions, and this time the head of his cock nudged against her clit.

Daria started to moan, but Nik managed to cover her mouth in time, and the sound was lost in his kiss. “Quiet,” he hissed against her lips. “If you want me to give you what you want, you will do everything I say.”

Daria could only nod, her eyes wide on him, her brain turned into mush as every cell in her body ached for Nik’s possession. Between their bodies, she could feel Nik’s hands becoming busy, and she tried to help him as she could, clinging to him so he wouldn’t have to hold her and worry about her staying afloat.

With Nik’s back to the yacht and the other guests snorkeling, it was up to her to make sure that no one swam their way – at least not close enough to see Nik unzipping his shorts and pulling her bikini bottom to the side.

“Daria.”

He waited until she looked at him, and once she did, he entered her. He savored the look on her face as he penetrated her with his cock, his desire intensifying at the way her eyes dilated and her lips parted.

“Oh, Nik.” Her voice made him shudder, and he pulled her roughly towards him, his fingers digging into her buttocks as he thrust deeper into her.

She clung to him, biting her lip harder with each thrust, doing her best not to make a sound.

Even without looking at Daria’s face, Nik knew she was trying her damnedest to keep quiet. Perversely, it made him want to torment her, made him want to see how long she could last before she started moaning, whimpering, and gasping like she usually did.

He turned his head slightly, Daria shivering as his mouth brushed against her ear. He whispered, “You’re so damn tight.”

Daria froze, her heart slamming against her chest at Nik’s unexpected words. He rarely – no, make that, he
almost never
spoke when they were making love, and yet here he was, speaking, when they were making love in public—

“It makes me want to fucking brand your pussy with my cock.”

Oh God
. Her very proper Greek was whispering such dirty words.

“Do you want that?”

She nodded jerkily even as her eyes nearly glazed over. She started to taste blood, with the way she was biting her lip so hard—

“Never forget it then.” Nik’s hand slipped between their bodies, his fingers immediately finding the tiny nub of pleasure between her folds. “Your pussy’s mine.” He twisted her clit between his fingers.

Her head lolled back, her lips parting as desire turning her world into a blur.

Nik’s eyes widened.

She started to moan—

But fortunately, Nik caught her moan in time, his mouth swooping down to capture the sound with his kiss. Even as she kissed him back, she was obviously no longer herself. She still kept moaning, leaving Nik no choice but to kiss her harder and quicken the movements of his fingers and his cock. He had to make her come before she ended up screaming for everyone’s attention.

Daria’s eyes squeezed shut as Nik’s hips pumped against her in ferocious speed. It felt too much, and the way his fingers kept stimulating her clit didn’t help. Everything was too much, and she just couldn’t keep it inside her any longer—

She screamed against his kiss as she came, the orgasm so powerful it had her legs locking around his waist in a vise grip. Her body shuddered as the wetness pulsed and streamed out of her, and when Nik released her mouth, her head fell limply in the crook of his shoulder.
