Noah!”

That’s it babydoll. Let go.”

Oh god! I… Ooh… Noah!!!”

She bucked hard against him again, clenching him so tight he thought he might die the most unbelievable slow death as he burst inside of her, flooding her with the warmth of his seed in thick hot jets inside of her.

Baby baby baby, my god you’re amazing babydoll.”

Miki collapsed against him, her hand reaching for his as it still slowly was strumming her. So sensitive now she couldn’t handle the soft touch. They twined fingers as she licked and bit his neck, nuzzling against him. “I love you Noah.”

Mmm, I love you too Miki girl.”

She picked up the wash cloth and lathered it with soap, gently washing his body, soaking his hair and scrubbing it with shampoo. Turning on the handheld shower head she rinsed his hair free of soap then turned it on her hair soaking the thick mass, then turning off the water.

Come here baby, let me.”

She smiled at him and sat between his thighs, relaxing as he bathed her, purring when he scrubbed her scalp and rinsed her hair clean. As the tub drained, they stood and rinsed the soap from their bodies and wrapped up in thick white towels. Miki grabbed a blanket and spread it out in front of the fire, sitting with her newly refilled glass of wine and her comb, taking her time untangling the knots as he made his way to the blanket and took the comb from her. Gently he finished untangling it, and then continued to comb it, letting the warmth of the fire help to dry it some.

Maybe we should extend our stay here to a week instead of just four days. I like having you all to myself with no phones ringing or people dropping by.”

We have to be back by Thursday. It’s our first class for foster care, remember?”

Noah grinned and kissed her cheek. “You’re right. We don’t want to miss that. The sooner we get done the sooner we can start our family.”

I like the sound of that, our family.”

I do too babydoll.”

Chapter 20

Three months later… May 2nd

Dominique and Delilah Taylor

Life was a real shit sometimes. At the age of fifteen the fraternal twins had been bounced from one foster home to the next so many times that they had lost count. Now their caseworker was threatening to separate them. They were a handful, too many problems. Like it was their fault that their latest foster dad they had tried to touch Delilah in ways he had no right to. He deserved the punches that Dominique had given him once he had gotten the door busted in to save her. When Dom heard his sisters scream in the middle of the night he’d been frantic to get her door opened. He had yelled for his foster mom, but she had been passed out drunk again, and never heard a sound; until the police arrived, waking her out of her alcohol induced dreams.

When the door busted open and he saw his sister’s nightgown torn and the blood on her lip, Dominique saw red and attacked. No one would ever get away with hurting his sister,
ever
. Not as long as he was alive. Once Dom started hitting their foster dad, Delilah had smashed her lamp over his head and knocked him unconscious. Dom told his sister to pack her bag, while he dragged the unconscious man out of her room, running to his room to do the same. They were headed for their 19 year old brother Dakota’s dorm, but they never made it there. Their foster dad had called the police and lied, telling them that Dominique had attacked him for no reason and that the twins had ran away. So now they sat in their caseworker’s office, recounting again what had happened.

I just don’t know what to do with you kids.” Meghan said. “I’ve placed you in 11 different foster homes since I got your case two years ago.”

Ms. Meghan this wasn’t our fault!” Delilah cried. “Dom was only protecting me and if he hadn’t that disgusting old man would have raped me!”

Dom wrapped a protective arm around his sister, quietly asking her to calm down so things didn’t get worse for them.

I’m not saying tonight was your fault Delilah, not at all. I’m so thankful your brother saved you and I’m mortified that happened to you kids. But every new home I place you in something always goes wrong. There’s always a fight breaking out or you two are running away. It’s to the point now that my boss wants me to split you two up so maybe you’ll settle down. I don’t want to do that.”

Ms. Meghan please don’t take my sister away from me. She needs me and I need her. We’ve never been apart Ms. Meghan. We’ve lost everyone else; please don’t make us lose each other.” Dominique’s voice cracked and that hard exterior he always portrayed looked as if it were about to shatter. The tears that were sliding down both of the kids’ faces broke her heart. She knew that deep down, these kids were good. They had just had a rough couple of years and were now to the point they were always in fight or flight mode.

Ok. I’m going to try one more home for the two of you. You have to promise me you’ll try to make it work. This is a great couple with a lot of love to give and they are looking to adopt. No fighting Dominique. Promise me you two will not run away again or get into trouble. If you have a problem you need to call me first ok?”

We promise Ms. Meghan. We’ll do anything to stay together, right Dom?”

Yes ma’am Ms. Meghan. We promise.” Dominique’s big brown eyes were still tear filled and she could tell he was trying hard to maintain composure in front of his sister.

Ok. Let me make the call, you two can watch television in the waiting room until I get things situated. I’ll have to take an officer with me to the Morrison’s to get the rest of your stuff tomorrow. Now come on in here with me to the vending machines, I’ll get you two a soda and a snack. I imagine you’re probably hungry and thirsty by now aren’t you?”

She stood up and walked towards the kids, nearly crying when they both wrapped her in a hug and thanked her for not splitting them up. “Don’t thank me, just stay put, don’t go running away again. Come to me instead, or a police officer if you can’t get a hold of me ok? I care about you kids. It’s important to me that you’re ok.”

Meghan led them to the break room and got them both chips, a soda, and a candy bar before taking them to the waiting room right outside her office, where she could keep an eye on them. Once they were settled and wrapped up in blankets she returned to her office and pulled out the file for the Cane’s. They were a newly licensed, foster-to-adopt couple that had breezed through their home study and classes, and had been eagerly awaiting their first placement. Meghan hoped her kids would be a perfect fit for this couple. They were filthy rich thanks to winning the lottery but the thing that had intrigued Meghan most was that even though they had a windfall of money, they still continued the training and wanted so much to start a family.

It was late, nearing 3am now, but it only took a few rings, and the groggy voice of Mr. Cane answered the phone.

Hello…”

I need to speak with Mr. or Mrs. Noah Cane please.”

This is Noah, who is this?” He put the phone on speaker so Mikayla could hear.

I’m sorry to call you so late Mr. Cane. This is Meghan Bridges from DHS. You were listed as a family willing to take kids in emergency situations no matter the time of day, and I have twins, a boy and a girl age 15, that need an immediate placement. Would you be willing to take them in tonight Mr. Cane?”

Noah cleared his throat and put his hand out and grasped Miki’s, tugging her to him.

Of course we’ll take them in. Can you tell us what happened to them?”

Yes Mr. Cane I can give you a little bit of information. It appears that the foster parents the kids were placed with had both been drinking heavily tonight. The foster mother had passed out and the foster father went in the girl’s room, and was in the process of trying to molest her, but her brother broke down the door and saved her. I do have to let you know that the kids did beat the man up until he was unconscious, then they ran away. The police got called, and they found the kids nearly at the college dorms where their brother is at in his first year of school.”

My God those poor kids, they must be worn out and terrified. We’re getting dressed now, you bring them on over.” Miki was already up and tossing on sweat pants and a t-shirt, stuffing her feet in fuzzy slippers and heading to the kitchen to make coffee and cocoa.

Noah hung up the phone and got dressed as quick as she did and joined her in the kitchen.

I can’t even imagine what’s been going through those kids’ minds tonight. From being abused to running away, then getting hauled in by the police. After you walked out of the bedroom Meghan told me these two have been through a lot. Eleven foster homes in the past two years. They lost their parents in car accident, and didn’t have any other family that would take them in. They have an older brother that aged out of the system that’s in college now, second semester, but he lives in the dorms right now and isn’t stable enough to take in his younger siblings.”

Miki had tears in her eyes as she stirred the cocoa in the pan. There was only so much you could do in an immediate situation like this, but she figured hot cocoa was a good start to making the kids feel safe and comforted.

Did she say what their names are Noah?”

Yes, Dominique and Delilah.”

Miki turned the fire down to low and turned to Noah, taking his hands in hers, and began whispering a prayer for the children that were on their way to them.

Chapter 21

Meanwhile, traveling with Ms. Meghan…

Meghan looked back at the kids where they huddled in the back seat together talking quietly. It broke her heart how many cases like this passed across her desk every year. As she pulled down the driveway, she had her heart full of hope that this young couple could embrace these teens and give them the life and family they deserve. It would take a lot of patience and discipline, but from what she had heard about the Cane’s, they would more than fit the bill.

Ok kids we’re here. Now remember what I said. You guys need to make this work. This is a great couple. Work with them, not against them. This is your last chance to stay together.”

We’ll be good Ms. Meghan, we promise.” Delilah’s voice was shaky and tired. Poor kids were worn plum out.

Ok, let’s go get you guys settled, I know you have to be sleepy.”

As if on cue, Delilah yawned and Dominique soon followed suite making them all laugh.

See, what did I tell you.” Meghan grinned and got out of the car with her briefcase that contained information on the kids she needed to give to the Canes.

It was about 4am, now and still pitch black outside except for the porch light and the light shining from the screen door. Meghan was surprised that from the looks of things the house was an old one and not in the best shape, modest in size. Reportedly this couple had won somewhere around $341 million dollars about three months ago in the lottery, one of the largest jackpots ever. She had expected to see a mansion or at the very least a large, new home not just an average country home.

The screen door opened and a tall, ruggedly handsome man with a friendly face welcomed them in.

Hi, you must be Meghan; it’s nice to meet you finally. Dominic, Delilah, welcome to our home.” Noah looked over the kids, noting the tear stained brown cheeks and the bruise on Delilah’s face. He wanted nothing more in that moment than to find out where the man was that assaulted her so he could break him in two. The girl was such a tiny thing, barely five foot and maybe a hundred pounds at best. Noah also noticed how her brother had a protective arm around his sister and that he had cuts on his knuckles from taking up for her. He wasn’t slight like his sister. You could tell the young man was fit and muscular. It made Noah proud to know he fought for his sister. In the system he knew they didn’t condone fighting of any kind for any reason from these kids, but in Noah’s eyes, there was a time and a place to use fists. Dominique chose the right time. Noah would have done the same for his baby sister.

His smile was warm and caring as he ushered them inside where Mikayla was bringing in a tray with mugs of hot cocoa and placing it on the coffee table.
