About the Author

Patricia D. Eddy has been a writer all of her life. She used to sit at her parents' kitchen counter at an Apple IIe typing out short stories. She even wrote a few on their old typewriter. But it wasn't until NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) in 2011 that she ever came close to finishing a story she started.

Once that dam broke, the flood waters never receded. Patricia sits down to write every evening after dinner and quite often sees midnight come and go before she heads to bed. She doesn't sleep much. But she wouldn't have it any other way.

In her spare (HA!) time she runs, bikes, swims, yogas, pilates-es, reads, and is terribly addicted to Doctor Who and Sherlock. Apparently she has a thing for quirky British men. She has been known to participate in clandestine coffee bean exchanges in corner shops and is happiest when she’s mixing the perfect Manhattan.

Writing is one of the most solitary hobbies one can choose. Publishing, however, is anything but solitary. This book would not be what it is without the love, support, and assistance of some wonderful people in my life.

My beta readers: Autmn, Gina, and Marty. Beta readers get the story at its worst. Misspellings, scenes that go nowhere, plot holes . . . they suffer through it all. They read, they give feedback, and they make the story better. When I thought about making huge changes at the eleventh hour, I needed them the most and they were there. Thank you.

My wonderful and talented business partner and marketing manager, Samantha. I’m still not convinced that we’re not the same person. Perhaps I invented cloning and didn’t realize it. No. That’s not it. Because you can take my unfocused thoughts on how to sell a book and turn them into a plan and then execute on that plan.

You need to find someone you can work with—someone who understands what you’re trying to do and then you need to trust them with your precious. Every time I get a book back from Clare, I thank my lucky stars that I found her. She points out all my plot holes, fixes my atrocious use of passive sentences, and tells me when I need to amp up the emotion and when I need to just get over it. The changes she suggested to this book were amazing. I can’t believe how much better the book is for her having touched it.

Last, but not least, my family and friends. My parents taught me I could do anything I put my mind to. My friends . . . you all bought my first book. Many of you bought my second, third, and forth books too. And you read them. They were long books. That takes commitment. I can’t tell you how much that means to me. I hope you do it again.

And my readers. A few of you sent notes. A few of you left awesome reviews. A few of you did both. There are always days during the writing and publishing process when things just all go to hell. Nothing works. Your characters hate you, your full time job bleeds into your nighttime writing schedule, or you just stare at the screen and rock back and forth, unsure what to do next.
