EPILOGUE

Five Months Later

“Kester,” Nadia shouted, searching for the prince in their spacious Gemnian apartment. She closed her eyes and located him with her mind, reclining before the window that looked out to the binary star system before them. The dual suns cast cascading light over the planet, warmer and far less humid than Nadia’s original home in the United States. “Ko tells me that the Nebulans are closing in on the Lanids.”

So they are
. He sent her an image of his father’s sky army. The Lanids would be protected. Nadia nodded and sent him a thought in return.

Still, that is the home of your father. We must protect him.

Even though he thought it impossible at first, Nadia had learned the ins and outs of telepathic communication. It was clunky at first, but the speed with which she learned impressed him. Perhaps it was the half-Gemnian twins growing inside of her womb that had given her the ability to read him. In truth, it was probably their fate to read one another like this.

Kester had met few fated pairs in his time, but he could always tell that their psychic bond was especially strong. Nadia was his fated mate, as sure as the old legends had described. She knew him inside and out, gave him more pleasure than any other female had, and her eggs had cried out for his seed from the very beginning. Their family was meant to be. He looked at her, taking in her beauty. But there was so much more beyond that… bravery, intelligence, kindness, and intuition like he’d never known.

What a beauty you are
, he thought. She smiled, leaning in to him. The twins had begun moving in her belly, and she knew that they would soon be born, as strong and healthy as the alien lord before her. A boy and a girl, she knew already. She could hear their thoughts, taking shape. To them she spoke their father’s name, the names of the planets of Astria, the continents of Earth. Theirs was a heritage that spanned galaxies. They would be blessed as heirs of Astria.

Kester, we must go and protect your home. And yes, we must do it before the twins are born.
She reached and patted the invisible sword at her side. She’d insisted Kester teach her to defend herself from the Nebulans. Even if she was mated to Kester, they would still capture her at any opportunity… anything to jeopardize the treaty. But still, she was not afraid. Here, she belonged.

Kester looked to her with worry in his eyes, the same worry that he’d shown when she had been healing from her injuries. But he knew he would give in to her logic. More than his mate, she was his partner. And in time, she would be a queen of Astria, a ruler as respected as he was. He’d never thought a Terran woman would grant him such wisdom. But as he was learning, even princes could be wrong. And even fathers could be right.

Nadia strode to the bay doors that led to Kester’s space pod. She looked back at him, patting her belly. As an astronaut, she was always ready for adventure, no matter how dangerous. That is how they would rule. This is how they would be, rulers of Astria, bonded in love until death.

Kester rose and followed her. Wherever Nadia went, he would follow.

She was his home, and he was hers. And whatever adventures they had would be together.

Excerpt

Looking out from his large capsule at the purplish waterfall below, Adax waited for the go-ahead from Shauna. He began to fantasize about her earthly body. It was smaller than his, as was normal for an earthling – and definitely curvier. He had seen the females of many races, Eldazon being the tourist mecca it was, and he hadn’t been as impressed by many. Though his brother Cael had bragged about the six breasts of his Galorian girlfriend, Adax felt that four was more than enough, and two, perfect. After all, he had only two hands, large as they might be, and there were a lot of areas on a woman he wanted to explore. And although he could pleasure through telepathy alone, he liked to do so mainly manually, to really feel the sensations of touch, and leave the mind stuff for extra stimulation. An add-on, as it were. Bonus sexing.

When he got the sign that Shauna was ready for him, he initiated the mind fusing sequence again, and heard her thoughts: “Who is this Adax? What does he want?”

“I want you,” he sent back to her. “I want to make you happy, and want to be your man.”

“What do you look like?”

He sent her an image this time, rather than thoughts in words.

Shauna gasped, seeing the large alien’s look in her mind. He was exactly her type. Well, except for the light purple skin. But he was clearly tall, dark haired, muscular, ripped. “You’re gorgeous,” she thought involuntarily.

“As are you,” he came back. Almost as a habit, perhaps programmed by her mother, her mind immediately began thinking of all the ways she wouldn’t call herself gorgeous.
Maybe a little hippy,
she thought.
And I can never get my hair to do that thing that the stylist always manages.

Adax shook his head, hearing her criticisms coming fast and furious. Clearly she didn’t understand how beautiful she was. He shook his head lightly, smiling. On Eldazon, she would be a true goddess – a dream come true. Silly, these earth people not understanding their unique beauty. He sent her another mental image, this time of her, how he saw her. Luscious curves, flowing hair, sparkling eyes. Kissable lips. Penetratable body…

Shauna received the image. “That’s you,” he said, in his warm voice. “How can that not be beautiful?”
