Liam capped the precious moment by kneeling, and maintaining his hold on her hand. “Nothing would make me happier than being your husband. Nothing would make me happier than sharing the rest of my life with you.” He paused, absorbing the tremors of her hand by kissing her fingertips, one by one. “Aileen, will you marry me?”

His whispered words, his earnest, loving eyes settled promptly into the treasure chest of her heart. “Nothing…ever…would make me happier, Liam. I love you so much. Yes, to infinity and back. Yes!”

He slid the ring into place, stood, and kissed her deep. Aileen lingered in the swirling beauty of his embrace, in the feel of his mouth moving in reverent time to hers. She savored every flavor and texture, every sigh they breathed as one.

At last, Liam broke free for air and a measure of cooling distance. “OK, now you can call them.”

Aileen released a delighted squeal…and did just that.

Aileen gazed at her ring, captured anew by the dancing sparkles that flashed to life as light was captured and transformed. Would she ever tire of looking at it, or realizing this precious gift came straight from the heart of the man she had always loved? Aileen seriously doubted it.

Just enough time had passed for her to dress appropriately and fan out calls to her friends. Maeve and Kassidy arrived promptly after her summons. Knowing Siobhan's final classes at the Douglas Dance Academy wouldn't end until just after six, that call had been placed last, but once she heard the voice of her best friend, once she knew Siobhan was on her way, the joy in Aileen's heart spilled over.

She couldn't wait to hug her friend tight and dive into maid of honor details. Siobhan would be exquisite in the softest hue imaginable of shimmering, pale blue silk. This chapter of Aileen's life was set to be positively amazing.

“Can you just plain keel over from happiness?” Aileen posed the question as her friends gathered around her once again. Maeve took hold of her hand and the assemblage admired the ring and exclaimed over its beauty once again.

Befuddled, Liam shook his head. “Had I known the way to make you glow like this was to give you diamonds, Ailee, I would have done so long ago.”

Aileen adored him with a glance, loving him all over again as she released a soft exclamation of purest pleasure and immersed herself in the thrill of launching into his ready, waiting arms. Following a lengthy kiss that left those in the room to sigh, Aileen leaned back and met his gaze. “Allow me to enlighten. The glow doesn't come from the diamonds, Liam. It comes from you. Always, always you.”

“For now and forever, Aileen.” He kissed her once more, long and true. “I love you.”
