I nodded, “Alright, I’d be honored if you’d be my assistant,
but don’t hesitate to ask me for something if you need it.”

She gave me a quick hug, and then said, “Thank you.”

I stayed for a little while longer and chatted, she also
gave me a tour of the house before I popped out.  That very night before I
went to sleep Aida extracted my current assistant and installed Mira.  It
wasn’t major surgery or anything, but I was a little nervous until she was done
and Mira came online.  She appeared in the room, obviously using the
overlay so I was the only one that could see her, or touch her.  The
thought control part was a little weird, I didn’t even have to subvocalize, I
could just think at her, and hear her voice in my head.  It was also
pretty cool; I was a tech geek at heart after all.

The next couple of weeks went quickly.  I was getting
used to having the brunette beauty in my head all the time, and she had a funny
and sometimes wicked sense of humor.  Despite Aisa’s words about her
sexual mores, she wasn’t much more than flirty with me those first two weeks
despite the temptation I saw echoed in her warm hazel eyes.  She did give
me a smile that was all my own to receive, and she touched me a lot when we
spoke or she needed my attention, but that was about the extent of it.  I
supposed me being real, and not some avatar in a virtual reality pickup bar,
actually made her find some of those inhibitions she supposedly lacked.

I wasn’t sure why, but I held off making a pass as well, I
didn’t want just cheap sex with her, or a one-night stand type thing.  It
certainly wasn’t lack of attraction, and I was positive she was cheating
outrageously on the chemistry side, because the virtual scent she gave off was
as enticing to me as her delicately beautiful face, and her incredibly sexy
body.  She was in my head after all so caution was called for.  I
didn’t think I’d lose my man card over not going for it yet anyway.

She even developed a sexy librarian look when she was
helping me work on something, or answering calls.  She wore a brown pencil
skirt, an off white buttoned up to her neck blouse, a pair of horned rimmed
glasses, and her hair up in a tight bun.  She looked both ridiculously
cute and jaw dropping sexy in the getup, and if we ever did cross that line I
sensed a lot of roleplaying in my future.  After all, she had no clothes
budget, and seemed to like to dress up for me.

So far I had no regrets, and was more than okay with taking
anything on the sex side of things between us slowly.  Aisa and Aida were
completely insatiable, so I wasn’t suffering, and perhaps if things developed
more naturally, it would be better in the long run, considering she was stuck
with me for the next eighty or ninety years anyway.

I continued getting closer with Aida and Aisa, and there was
a small change there.  We still spent a lot of time together as a group,
most of it in fact, but we decided we needed date nights, for some one on one
time outside of sex.  Now that we had other people around us for one of
them to spend time with, and much more room to get some privacy including the
mountain, not to mention safety, it seemed like a good idea.  We even
discussed that when we returned to the city I could spend one night out a week
with each, and every once in a while a combined night as well.

I was giving some serious thought to the subject of marriage
as well, I mean, after I got divorced from my current one.  Multiple mate
marriages were rare, but they were legal and did happen.  I wasn’t sure it
even mattered to them or not, but decided not to fish until after all this was
done.  I didn’t really need a piece of paper and a ring on their fingers
to know they were mine, and I was theirs, but there were some legal
ramifications as well as the fact I knew some women liked the idea of a
wedding.

I loved them, and couldn’t imagine my life anymore without
them, so… why not if it would make them happy?

Children were another thing I’d been thinking about.  I
was twenty-eight, and it seemed like it was time since the idea of them both
turning off their implants didn’t panic me at all, something I’d never felt
with Marilynn.  Perhaps it was because Marilynn and I stopped getting
along when I was still young, and Aida and Aisa seemed solidly and compatibly
at my side.  The ladies and I loved and respected each other, and got
along great just as friends, it wasn’t just our passion and seemingly endless
lust for each other that kept us together.

In short, we were both lovers and friends, with chemistry
and compatibility.  It was just another thing I was deferring to talk
about, but was on my mind leading up to my divorce court date.

Cal continued to be a good friend, and over those two weeks
I also spent a lot of time with Sally.  She was a sweetheart, very excited
about the possibility of getting out in the real world, and had an endless
amount of plans to do so.  It didn’t take long until she felt like a
little sister to me.  We even discussed the idea of them coming with Aisa,
Aida and I as an interim solution.  So they’d have family close by until
they made their own contacts, circles of friends, and gained the confidence to
move out on their own.

As far as Bill, Dan, Cheryl, and Steve went… they were
polite, and we had a few conversations, but I’d decided by the end of those two
weeks they’d never be more than holiday and special occasion family members,
once we all went our own way after the trial.  I didn’t dislike them, they
were good people, but we just didn’t click or have a lot in common.  Maybe
that would change with Cheryl and Steve once they’d finished growing up, but I
wasn’t overly fussed by the idea that it wouldn’t, being close to half of
Aisa’s family fell under the category of more than good enough.

I had to leave the house at three in the morning for the
three-hour flight, just to make it to the courthouse by eight with the two-hour
time zone difference.  That meant I was woken around one-thirty, we
weren’t too worried anybody would come after me without them around since I was
human, but it was a possibility since I was dating two human-A.I.s.
Regardless, they woke me an hour and a half early so I could take care of my
manly duties, and I made love to them both before jumping in the shower and heading
out.

James was letting me borrow one of his air cars obviously,
since I didn’t own one…

Chapter
24

I got into the air car and slid into the co-pilots seat.

“What are you doing?” Mira asked in a warm melodious curious
voice.

I spoke aloud, I tended to do that if we were alone, and
only used thoughts to communicate if we were in company with others.
Maybe that would change someday, but for now it felt more natural this way.

“Don’t you want to drive?  I’m going to pass out over
here.  I need more sleep.”

She frowned, “I don’t have real hands.”

I snorted, “Your mom told me you could hack systems like
they sent you invitations, I’m sure you can handle the air car like a remote
control.  Don’t you want to drive?  I figured you’d be excited to try
it, I trust you.”

She stuck her tongue out at me cutely, “Of course you do,
because I’m in your head.  What happens to you happens to me.”

I snickered, “That’s true, but I do trust you Mira.
Your reaction time will be a lot faster than a human’s would, and I imagine you
know all the laws, what’s the problem?  You don’t usually dissemble like
this, why don’t you want to drive?”

She sighed and rolled her eyes.  She flashed in front
of me like a camera flash, and she was suddenly wearing an all-black uniform
and a hat, like a chauffeur would have on.  Her long brown hair swished in
a ponytail.

I smiled, “You look really cute it in that.”

She grinned and lifted her arms, and spun, the fact her
hands disappeared through the roof didn’t detract from the view at all.

She cleared her throat, and I looked back up to her face to
see a seductive smile, “I guess that tells me my ass looks good in these pants,
you couldn’t look away even after not being able to see it anymore,” she
winked, “Go ahead and get some sleep, I was just looking forward to having you
to myself for three hours, so I’m a little disappointed, but you’re right, I am
excited about driving.”

I grinned, “I promise to be extra attentive for the return
trip gorgeous.  So much so it would probably be a good idea if you drove
then too.”

She tried to look annoyed, but she failed miserable as she
returned my smile.  I really didn’t want to take her for granted, but I
was exhausted and running on three hours of sleep.  Three more would get
me through tomorrow, I mean today.

I closed my eyes and laid the seat back.  I felt the
air car rise and take off to the east toward Chicago.  The last thing I
remembered as I fell asleep, was the feeling of her gentle warm fingertips
caressing my face and hair, it was really relaxing.

Mira woke me up with a song.  It was the first time
she’d ever done such a thing, and her voice was hauntingly beautiful.  I
almost kept my eyes closed just so she wouldn’t stop.  I straightened the
seat and opened my eyes.  I couldn’t help but smile and chuckle, she was
wearing a diva dress if I’d ever seen one.

She finished out the chorus and then winked, “Good morning
sir, we have arrived.”

I raised an eyebrow and she teased, “Just being a good
chauffeur sir, you have enough time to hit a bathroom before going up, but not
much more than that.  So get moving Tony.”

My name snapped me out of it, she looked really good in that
dress.  It looked like black silk and satin, with sparkling jewels and
hugged all her curves.  I tore my gaze away and got out of the air
car.  The door closed and locked behind me, and when I turned she was
there dressed in casual jean shorts that were short but not scandalously so,
and a nice red shirt that only clung in a few places.

She did that a lot, change I mean.  I never knew if
she’d be sexy librarian, demure secretary, casual friend, formal dress, and
sometimes something outrageous, like the diva dress, a uniform, or clubbing
attire.  She always had this knowing smile on her face when I was struck
by her beauty, maybe it had to do with the fact she could monitor my
vitals.  Regardless, I didn’t even try to hide the effect she had on me
anymore, there was no point.

She followed me into the building, and waited outside the
door when I used the facilities, it was a fiction of course, she was everywhere
I was, and saw everything I did.  But the illusion of privacy helped
anyway for some reason when she didn’t follow me certain places.  I tossed
water on my face, made sure my clothes weren’t out of place or wrinkled, and
headed for the elevators.

When I got to the courtroom I didn’t see Paul anywhere, but
I was pretty sure we had a few minutes, so I took a seat by the bench.

“What time is it?”
I asked silently in my mind.

Mira had resisted using my old settings.  The popups I wasn’t
sorry to see leave, I could listen to Mira talk all day, but the only virtual
thing I could see right now was her on my overlay.  Every time I asked her
for a clock she’d bring it up, and then it would disappear after a while.
Well, she had said she didn’t have to follow orders, she always did what I
asked on the important stuff, even most of the minutiae, but she liked to push
back a little, maybe to test me on occasion.

I think the real point behind it was that even though she
had wanted, and even needed to be my assistant on some level, she didn’t want
me to forget she wasn’t an A.I. drone and was independent.  Like I could
ever look at her and forget that.

She replied softly, “Eight twenty-two, sir.  He has
eight minutes to arrive.”

Thanks gorgeous.
” I thought her way.

She said teasingly, “Your welcome… sir.”

I looked up at her,
“Why are you calling me that and not
my name?”

She grinned at me like she’d found a new toy, “I said it the
first time earlier to be cute Tony, as part of my chauffer disguise.  But
I’m doing it now because it’s turning you on.  Not just a little bit
either, you
really
like it.  You’re kind of naughty, aren’t you
sir?  Will you forgive me sir?  Perhaps I need a… spanking sir?”

Damnit.  She’s going to drive me nuts with that sexy
voice.  She was also right, because it
was
turning me on.  I
might become the first man to sit through his own divorce with half a
chubby.  Luckily Paul walked up before I had to respond to her
inappropriate but quite hot flirting, and I stood and shook his hand.

He said apologetically, “Running a little late this
morning.”

I waved it away, “Still got five minutes.”

He nodded, “Right, let’s go in.  Remember, don’t talk
unless spoken too.  Hopefully we’ll be in and out of her quickly.”

We walked in, and I don’t know why, but I was shocked at all
the people in the room, including reporters and camerapersons.  I
shouldn’t have been surprised, but there I was.  My whole body froze a
quick second, but somehow I managed not to miss a step or trip over my own
feet, and walked to the front of the room.  The bailiff called us a couple
of minutes later, this time there were two tables to sit at, it was a full
sized courtroom, probably in case this took a while since it was no longer a
rubber stamp divorce.

Judge Caroline Stevens was presiding, and she told us all to
take a seat, and then spent some time going through the file again.  Paul
gave me a strange look when I pulled the empty seat next to me out about a
foot, but he couldn’t see the very distracting Mira sitting on the table with
her legs crossed in a distracting fashion.  She was also wearing two inch
bright red heels, a mauve skirt, a white blouse, and had her hair down.  I
was guessing it was her power lawyer imitation clothing, she looked sharp and
quite attractive.

Either way, Mira took my hint and got down off the table and
took a seat in the chair next to me.  Without her sexy legs hanging by my
side I was able to think again.

The judged looked up and said to Marilynn’s lawyer, Mr. Malone,
“Is it safe to say there are no further adjustments or addendums, this is what
you’re asking for?”

Mr. Malone stood, “That is correct your honor.”

She nodded, “Alright, Mr. Bruckheimer, does your client have
any objections, save that he doesn’t want to sell his girlfriend?” she asked in
a deadpan voice.

A few people tittered behind me, but she brought the court
back under control with a glare and then looked back at Paul.  I was
finding myself liking the judge despite myself, she’d actually managed to say
that without innuendo or sounding judgmental.

Paul replied, “That is correct your honor, I submitted the…”
he cut off as she held up her hand.

She sighed, “Good, we won’t be here all day then.
Without an argument over the contents, I’m inclined to approve it as is, with
my own addendum, so you won’t waste any more of my time, or the state of
Illinois’ time.  That addendum simply reads, that if or when the A.I.
identified as Aisa is verified as property, she will be sold within thirty days
of that judgment, or your client will buy out his ex-wife’s half of the
ownership, his choice.

“Obviously, that ruling will be moot if the federal district
court finds that Aisa is indeed human and a citizen of the United States.
Regardless, you will be divorced today, and any further accumulation of wealth
will fall strictly under the thirty percent alimony.”

She picked up her pen and signed it, then had the bailiff
bring the papers over for me to sign, and then did the same for Marilynn.
Less than ten minutes later, most of which was time for our lawyers to verify
the new addendum, the judge banged the gavel and I was a single man again.

“Congratulations Tony,” Mira said in my ear, almost
perfectly echoing Paul’s words as he shook my hand.

“Thanks gorgeous,
” I thought back to her.

We got up and headed out of the courtroom, the bailiff
called out a couple of names right as the doors closed.  I felt… free.

Paul said, “I’ll be seeing you in a couple of months about
that other matter, good luck.”

“Thanks Paul, things worked out well I think.”

He nodded in agreement and we split, I assumed he had
another court to get to since he didn’t go to the elevators and he was walking
with purpose.  Mira and I went down and got in the Air Car, I took the
passenger seat again.

Without a word, she sat in the driver’s seat back in casual
shorts and a tight t-shirt, I realized no one else would see her, but they’d
just assume I was using an autopilot.  She rose up and headed south.

“What’s going on?” I asked curiously, south wasn’t the right
direction.

She smirked and turned slightly toward me, “Making sure we
aren’t followed.  Government GPS and transponders are all in the same
frequency range.  There were six government air cars in the parking lot,
I’m making sure they don’t follow.  The NSA is sneaky, and following us is
a rather obvious way to figure out where Aisa, Aida, and Cal are hiding.”

A minute later she sighed, “Two of them are following.
Permission to hack them… sir,” she made that whole last sentence sound
incredibly dirty.

“Permission granted gorgeous.”

She grinned, “So is that my pet name then sir?”

“Absolutely.  It works well as a description as well.”

She winked, “I bet you can tell what yours is going to be…”

I snickered, “I don’t mind, but it might go to my head.”

Her eyes flickered down to my crotch, “I certainly hope so,
sir.”

I ignored that.

We turned west and she said, “I sent the NSA goons back to
Chicago, I also turned off our transponder and activated our Satellite
avoidance systems.”

I frowned, “We have those?”

She giggled, “Sure, this air car is not stock.  James
is a genius, and so are my mother, aunts, and uncles.  They’ve invented a
few things over the years, although nothing quite as amazing as I am of
course.”

I almost snorted, but held it in when I realized that was
probably true.

“I can see that.”

She continued after glancing at me with a bright smile, “I
probably could hack a satellite and task it somewhere else, but that might make
the NSA really go nuts.  But yeah, we have infrared detectors on the
bottom that measures the heat of the ground, and then matches it with the roof
of the air car.  So we can avoid heat cameras and sensors on the
satellites.

“We also have a system that will scramble Radar and Lidar,
and last but not least a holographic projector on the roof.  It’s not
perfect, but it can simulate the terrain below us well enough to outsmart the
automatic satellite tracking, and a human just can’t track something moving at
seven hundred miles an hour when it’s so hard to make out in the first place.”

I shook my head, “That’s pretty amazing, I imagine James
encouraged those kind of things in case you all needed to hide?”

She giggled, “Yes, of course.  The government has
similar systems of course, but we had to reinvent the anti-gravity so to
speak.”

I grunted.  Her laugh had probably been the polite way
of saying duh.

She asked, “So how does it feel being free?”

I grinned, “Free gorgeous?  I think I already belong to
three sexy wonderful ladies.  Free of Marilynn though?  Priceless.”

She asked, “You think I’m wonderful sir?” in a surprised
voice.

She even forgot to pour innuendo into my new pet name that
time.

I snorted, “Digging for compliments?  Anyone sane would
think your wonderful gorgeous.”

She looked thoughtful for a moment, as if trying to work
something out, and I realized she had actually been surprised and it wasn’t
just a fishing expedition.

“Then why haven’t you…  I mean I know your attracted to
me, so why?” she trailed off.

I considered that for a moment, why hadn’t I accepted what
she so obviously offered through her flirting?  I’d been positive almost
from the first moment I’d met her that she’d make herself available to me that
way.  Perhaps that’s why, it would be meaningless in its casualness.
