Cash spun me around then held me close. “You
wanna get out of here?”
“Our wedding is still going.”
“I want to take that dress off already.” He sucked my bottom lip then pulled away.
“I’ll make it worth your while.”
“I’ll hold you to that.” His hands hooked around my waist as he moved from side to side.
I rested my chin on his shoulder and closed my eyes. This was the most magical moment of my life and I wanted to remember it forever. Everything about that night was perfect, especially the man holding me. When I opened my eyes, I didn’t like what I saw. The magic disappeared.
Sharon was coming at me. And she held a knife.
“Cash…”
“Baby?”
I grabbed his arm and pulled him away. “Sharon has a knife!”
“What?” He searched the crowd until he saw her. He immediately pushed me behind him, blocking me with his body.
But Sharon was knocked to the ground.
“Get away from my best friend, you bitch!” Desi punched her in the face then slammed her wrist into the ground until she dropped the knife. Then she punched her again. “Dumb bitch.”
“Desi?”
Cash still protected me with his body.
She got off Sharon then hugged me tightly. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” I said quickly. “Are you okay? You’re the one who tackled a psycho.”
“I’m so sorry about everything. I was such bitch before.”
That meant the world to me. “You’re forgiven.”
“Well, that was easy,” she said with a laugh.
“I’m just so glad you’re here.” I hugged her again.
Cash was huddled next to Sharon with a few other people. He was on the phone so I assumed he was calling the cops. He looked like he had everything taken care of.
“I was just jealous that you were successful. There was no reason to act that way. You’re the most talented one in the group anyway. We all know that.”
“That’s not true,” I said immediately. “We’re all great.”
“So, we’re okay?” Desi asked.
“More than okay.”
Mason came up next. “I’m sorry too.”
“You’re here?” I hugged him tightly. “I’m so glad you came.”
“Congratulations.”
‘Thank you.”
He looked at Sharon on the floor. “Who the hell is that?”
“Cash’s ex.” I rolled my eyes. “It’s a long story.”
“Apparently,” he said. “I’m glad you’re okay.”
“’Cause Desi kicked her ass,” I said with a laugh.
“Damn right,” Desi said.
Cash returned to me, his eyes wide. “You okay, baby?”
“I’m fine.”
He examined me, making sure my hair wasn’t even messed up. “Okay.” He turned to Desi. “I would have handled her, but I loved watching that.”
“No one messes with my best friend,” she said.
Cash smiled. “I’m very glad to hear that.” He grabbed my hand and pulled me away. “But your reunion will have to wait until after our honeymoon. Sorry. No exceptions.”
Desi and Mason laughed.
“Now where were we?” Cash asked. He pulled me to his chest and danced with me.
“About to leave for our honeymoon.”
His eyes widened. “Don’t tease me.”
“Well, our house is just a few feet away. I’m sure no one will notice if we sneak away.”
He pressed his face close to mine. “I knew I married you for a reason.”
“Because you love me?”
“That was a very small part of it.”
“Is it because I give great head?”
His eyes darkened. “No. But that helps.”
“Then why did you marry me?”
Cash grabbed my face and kissed me gently. His lips lingered on mine for a long time before he pulled away. “Because you brought me back to life.”

Prudence loved Hawaii. I took her snorkeling for the first time and she befriended a turtle. When the sun disappeared, I finally had to pull her out of the water.
“We’ll come back tomorrow,” I said.
“I hope he’s still here,” she said sadly.
“I’m sure he will be.”
When we returned to the hotel, she wrote an entire song about her sea creature friend. It was difficult to be considered two things at once. Somehow, Prudence was both sexy and adorable at the same. How did she pull that off?
I was glad we were back in the room. I loved exploring the island with her, but seeing her in a bikini gave me a constant hard-on. And honestly, I’d rather be in the room with her all day then out and about.
Prudence read my mind. “We have the rest of our lives, babe.”
I shook my head. “Still not enough time.”
We had the honeymoon suite on the top floor. Our private balcony faced the ocean. Even at our height, we could hear the distant waves. Prudence sat in my lap then rested her legs on the armrest. She was as light as a feather.
“You aren’t scared to be married to a musician?” she asked.
I rubbed her toned thighs. “Why would I be?”
“Well, I’ll be traveling a lot.”
“And I’ll come with you.”
“But you have to work, Cash. You’ve already taken too much time off.”
I shrugged. “Then I’ll quit.”
Her eyes widened. “What?”
“My marriage to you is more important than a job. Plus, I have enough investments to last a lifetime.”
She ran her fingers down my chest and smiled at me. “And what will you do when I’m running around at concerts and recording albums?”
“I’ll make love to you as soon as you’re done, and I’ll keep doing that until you go back to work.”
“So you’re going to be a house husband?”
I laughed. “No. But I’ll be your new manager. Dean has a million other things to worry about.”
“Ooh. So you’ll be my boss.” She rubbed her nose against mine.
“At home and in the bedroom.”
“I like that.”
“Good.” I kissed her neck then rested my face in the crook. When I thought about my life before Prudence, I realized how devastating it was. Having short-term relationships with women dulled the ache momentarily, but it didn’t last long. Prudence was the first one to change all of that, and she did it as soon as we met. “Thank you for marrying me,” I whispered.
“Thank you for loving me.”
“It was easy. And you didn’t give me a choice.”
She wrapped her arms around my neck and held me close. Minutes passed without speaking. I wanted to pinch myself so I knew all this would be real. The girl of my dreams was in my arms, and she was more than just a girlfriend. She was my wife, my best friend, my everything.
When I saw her playing her guitar, I knew I wanted her. But at the time, it was only for a few nights, not the rest of my life. But when I got to know her, everything changed. She healed all my wounds and taught me how to trust again. With her, I was never worried about a lie or a betrayal. For the first time in my life, I was happy.
Really happy.
