Authors: Jack Jordan
Two tears fall from Jessica’s eyes as she places the remaining pages on the table. She wipes her face and rises from her seat.
The screw is staring at Michael, unsure what to do. Jessica shakes her head, instructing the woman to do nothing but let him cry it out. She nods her farewell and the screw opens the door.
Jessica doesn’t let herself cry properly until she reaches the safety of her car, where she sobs into her hands.
Acknowledgements
First of all, I wish to thank you, the reader, for buying this book. By holding it in your hands, whether in physical or electronic form, you are giving me the best gift in the world.
I would also like to thank my editor, Christina Harkness, for her insight, guidance, and valid second opinion. Thank you to Sarah Nisbet for proofreading this novel. You’ve done a great job and you were a pleasure to work with.
I would like to thank my selected readers who gave me tremendously useful feedback during the editing stage. Thank you for spotting things that I had become desensitised to.
Most of all, I would like to thank those close to me, who believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. I am aware that having astonishingly high expectations of one’s life and career can intimidate people, causing them to lack trust and faith. Thank you for having abundant belief in me: Sandra Yuill, Pamela Jordan, Gary Barnes, Luke Valentine and Martin Chester, you’re absolute stars.
I think it is equally important to thank those who didn’t believe in me (there are too many names to mention) despite never having read a word of anything I’ve written. If it were not for your lack of belief, I wouldn’t have wanted to prove you wrong so relentlessly. I give you Exhibit A [waves book in the air with a gleeful smile].
About the Author
Jack Jordan lives in East Anglia, England. He is an introvert disguised as an extrovert, an intelligent man who can say very unintelligent things, and a self-confessed bibliomaniac with more books than sense.
