Romance - Suspense

Alfonzo Diaz is a young Latino who has ascended to Capo of the Palazzo family. He must gain respect from the International Board of Directors, also known as the I.B.D, a ruthless crime syndicate founded by his grandfather who view the young American as an outsider unfamiliar with tradition or the Italian way. There's a traitor in the ranks and with a corrupt FBI agent on his tail, an undercover cop in his midst, the power struggle begins.

The fight for power becomes a high-stake game of survival when the FBI close in. Alfonzo's arrested and charged under the RICO statute. Denied bail and locked up in a Manhattan Correctional Facility is the last place Alfonzo wants to be when he's informed there's a contract out on his life. He must defend himself against a jail-house assassin and worry about his wife who has embarked on a bloody quest for vengeance. The deadly tug of war for ultimate power and title of Capo Crimini -Superboss can have but one victor!

PROLOGUE

LIMA, PERU.

Navigation

He’d walked for hours in this section of
the highlands
which

In this
isolated
region
of the Andes t

An

drew large flies hovering
above
and
at times

These were scenes

Nico’s Quecha
was passable
and
he managed to
follow the
Misti’s
directions
without
going further
into the Amazon Basin
.
Locating
Freddie
became
a professional obsession. He’d devoted nearly two
y
ears to th
is
singular task
. After numerous false leads his brother
Vincent
became discouraged,
abandoned the search and
return
ed
to Puerto Rico
.
Nico
decided to continue pursuit of the elusive
shadow
but Freddie did not
remain
in
one location
long
. A
hefty
contract on
h
is
life
and
being featured on the FBI’s
most
wanted
accounted for that. The man
was literally a
ghost
, completely falling off the
grid.
No
credit card transactions,
big purchase items, nothing except rumored sightings. He
maintained a
low-profile, constantly chang
ing
his appearance and master
ing
the art of assimilation wherever he traveled. Th
is
densely populated area
and terrain
provided
him
a
natural concealment.
This latest tip
from a biologist
about
a recluse
; a man
fitting Freddie’s description living in
the bowels of
Lim
a
, i
f th

information panned out, Nico
could finally
return to his Capo Crimini with a souvenir from
t
h
e
long
hunt
ing expedition
and his family
.

A
capybara
,
or what
’s
known in the region as a ronsoco
,
grazed a few kilometers
away. Nico wrinkled his nose. They were herbivores, therefore
not dangerous
but the sight of
such
a large rodent made his skin crawl. He wiped the sweat from his forehead
after
stopp
ing
to
catch his breath
. The
arduous journey through the thick brush
left him slightly dehydrated
. He
took
several
swig
s
of water
from
the
canteen
, dabbed
water on his face
then
trudged forward
in the
shaded jungle
.
He pressed on through the dense forest and insect infested foliage until he reached a small clearing. A sweaty palm pushed aside the oblong leaves of an Abiu tree to peer at an old stone structure shielded by vines. From a perfunctory glance it
appeared abandoned, exactly as the Misti in the farm village described.
A
plain, single
story cement structure covered with vines. The sound of a generator rumbled noisily
and
attracted attention
to
the
otherwise nondescript
abode.
Apparently,
even
Freddie was un
willing
to
forego electricity.
