When the
woman stepped up to Jacob’s side Griffin lost his train of thought. It was his
first good look at her and he was completely knocked through a loop. This was
not the exhibitionist tramp he had expected to see. She looked tiny and a bit
pathetic standing there covered in sex trying to hold on to her dignity. The
top of her head didn’t reach Jacob’s shoulders. Her hair was chestnut brown
long and tangled down her back. Her red t-shirt and black shorts rumpled but
in no way too tight or too short. Her feet were bare.
If she was
wearing any make-up, he couldn’t tell. Her eyes were a light green or blue,
very nice. Even from where he stood, he could see that. She had a nice body
and a pretty face with a little upturned nose and high cheekbones. Her eyes
were almost too big for her face and her lips were nice enough with the lower a
little plumper than the top lip. She was plump in all the right places and
definitely looked kitten soft all over. She did not in any way shape or form
look like casual sex. She looked like white picket fences and homemade bread
and she was blushing so hard he could practically feel the heat from where he
stood.
What the
hell was going on?
Then the scent reached him. He raised his head and
breathed deep, aware as he did so that Linc was doing the same behind him. She
smelled of Jacob and sex but under that was a strong undertone of blood and
something infinitely sweeter, warmed vanilla and cinnamon, that’s what her
natural scent reminded him of. He was instantly hard. But it was the smell of
blood that was concerning.
Griffin took
the room in a leap that had the girl gasping and trying to run. He had her by
the arm and her t-shirt ripped from her shoulder before she could take more
than one step back. Beside them, Jacob growled in warning but it was too late,
he had already found the bite he knew would be there.
“You marked
her?” He struck out with the back of his fist and Jacob went flying, crashing
through two displays before coming to stop with a crunch against the short wall
that separated the women’s side from the mens.
The girl
shrank back. He looked down at her trapped by the grip on her arm and watched
the color drain from her face. He knew what she was looking at. His eyes had
bled to wolf. She tried to step away but he pulled her into his chest, so they
were pressed against each other from chest to hip. Her fear was a tangible
thing, and only sweetened the already nearly irresistible scent of cinnamon and
blood. He leaned down and buried his face in her neck, breathing deep.
He needed to
taste. Just a small taste.
His tongue
flicked across the bite already healing on her neck. He shuddered when the
sweet taste of her blood hit him. He could feel his scent release and he
welcomed it. He needed her bathed in his scent not Jacob’s. His teeth latched
down gently and she whimpered. He liked that. He liked it a lot. He pulled
her closer and started to bite down.
“Griffin!”
Linc ripped her out of his arms and stepped between them. Griffin snarled, and
lunged forward. Prepared to go through his enforcer to get to his woman.
“Griffin! Get control of your wolf damn it. You’re scaring her to death.”
“She’s
mine.” He snarled it right in Linc’s face, partially shifting so that the
teeth that snapped at Linc’s neck were sharp and large.
“As are we
all, Alpha,” Linc said. His head turned to present his vulnerable neck. The
words and submissive pose were enough to bring Griffin to his senses.
“Fuck Linc,
she’s potent,” Griffin said, backing up a step so he could think through the
haze of lust fogging his brain. His wolf snarled and snapped inside him, not
liking the distance, but he was able to fight it this time. The need to mark
and mount her did not go away however. “She smells like...”
“Mine.” The
growl was low and animalistic and they all turned to see Jacob rising up a
feral look in his partially shifted face. He was looking at the girl clinging
to Linc’s back, but before he could jump the distance, Linc had pulled her up
in his arms and was sprinting for the door. Griffin tackled Jacob before he
could follow in partial beast form. He took him down to the floor and let his
power unfold over him, pulling him out of half shift until Jacob was gasping
beneath him, his eyes averted and his posture submissive.
“Who do you
serve?”
“You Alpha.
I serve you.”
When Linc
finally stopped moving they were far away from the Hotel. As soon as he put
Becca down, she collapsed. Luckily, her butt landed on soft sand because Linc
had moved so far away so fast that there was no way he could have caught her to
break the fall.
When Becca
looked around, she saw nothing but sandy beach, turquoise ocean and tropical
palms. The hotel was nowhere in sight and the man, Linc, was as far away as he
could get and still be in sight. She was happy about that actually, considering
he had to be a werewolf too. She wasn’t sure what was more shocking to her
system, that werewolves existed or that she’d had unprotected sex with one. It
gave a completely new meaning to unsafe sex.
When Becca
was positive she could feel her legs she stood up. She wasn’t sure exactly
what was going to happen next. Okay, there were werewolves. Okay, she had sex
with one. Been bitten by one, almost two. Did that mean she was going to be
turning into one when the moon was full? Definitely a question that needed
answering sooner rather than later. Loath though she was to bring the
attention of yet another werewolf to her. She had to know.
“Linc?” she
called. “That’s your name, right?”
He moved a
bit closer so they could talk without the whole island hearing. “It is. And
you are?”
“Becca,
Rebecca,” she answered and then swallowed hard. “Am I going to change? Like
he did?”
“Like Jacob,
do you mean?”
Jacob.
The werewolf you just had sex with is named Jacob. Good to know.
“Yes.”
“No. You carry
wolf, so someone in your family was one of us, but not enough to change. It’s
not something you can catch. We're not a disease.”
She closed
her eyes in relief. She was sure she would know if anybody in her family
turned into a wolf, but that was for later. The rest she could deal with,
somehow. Next on her list: She was sore and smelly from the sex. Clearly, she
was not going to make it back to her room with any speed, nor was she all that
interested in running into any more crazed werewolves to get there.
She headed
for the warm water of the Caribbean and walked in fully dressed without pause
until she could submerge completely. She came back up with a gasp. It hurt
where the salt hit the scratches and bites, not to mention her more tender
bits, but it was worth the sting to feel the weightless water crashing over
her. She would not feel clean until she had soap and a shower but this was
definitely better than sitting around leaking a strange werewolves cum and
smelling like sex.
Before she
went under a second time, Linc was there with a shout, yanking her into his
arms. She sputtered wiping the stinging salt water out of her eyes and looked
around for the emergency.
“What? What
did you see?” she asked, clinging to his neck and looking around for the
threat.
What now,
Vampires?
She didn’t see anything but empty beach and crashing waves.
“Taking your
life is not the answer,” he said. Becca whipped her gaze up to his cool grey
one. This close she could see he had slightly slanted eyes. It added an
exotic cast to his features.
“Taking my
life?” She wiggled in his arms to get down. She was suddenly a lot angrier
then the moment called for. “I’m not trying to drown myself you imbecile. I’m
just trying to get clean.”
“Oh,” he
said looking a bit sheepish. Then he froze, leaning his face down and starting
to inhale. Becca grabbed his nose none to gently before he could get a full
breath.
“No,” she
said distinctly with her hand firmly clamped down. “You are not going to smell
me and turn all horny wolf on me. You will put me down and go back to the
beach and then you will keep your distance. I don’t care if you have to hold
your breath until you turn blue and die, I. cannot. Handle. Any. More. Right. Now.”
She studied his face. His eyes were still a soft grey but she wasn’t taking
any chances. “Blink if you understand.”
He blinked
and she carefully moved her hand ready to grab his nose again if he looked like
he wanted to breath anywhere near her. He opened his arms and dropped her back
into the water with a splash. By the time she sputtered her way to the surface
again he was back where he started.
Becca was
still in the water trying to drown out her scent when Griffin arrived. She was
too busy floating on salty waves to notice.
“How is she
handling it?” Griffin asked, without taking his eyes off Becca bobbing in the
water.
“Better than
we are,” Linc answered also with his eyes on Becca. “She asked me if she was
going to change like Jacob did. When I told her no she went for a swim. I
thought she was trying to drown herself. She called me an imbecile.” Linc
smiled then, his eyes full of admiration.
Griffin’s
brow went up “She must not realize that you’re one of us.”
“Oh she
knows. When I tried to save her from drowning, I got a whiff. My wolf was trying
to get another one when she grabbed my nose and told me that I was not going to
turn into a horny wolf. That I was to go back to the beach and hold my breath
till I die if necessary.”
Griffin
barked out a laugh and Linc chuckled along with him. Then they both turned
serious at nearly the same time. Linc meeting Griffin’s eyes. "I'd bet
good money that she has no idea she’s part wolf, or that we even existed before
today. But she’s an alpha female isn’t she? That’s why we all want her.”
“All?”
Linc met Griffin’s
hard gaze without flinching. “Yes.”
“Who do you
serve?” The voice had a hard edge.
Linc’s head
bowed down. “I serve you my Alpha, always.”
Griffin
nodded once stiffly. “Your turn will come. Return to the hotel. You and
Jacob will have to insure that this wedding weekend goes off without a hitch
and without her.” He nodded toward where the woman floated.
“Becca,” Linc
said. “She said her name was Rebecca, Becca for short.” With one last longing
look out to sea, he turned and headed back to the hotel.
Griffin
watched him go and then turned back to the ocean. Breathing deeply he tried to
catch her elusive sent on the sea breezes, but there was nothing. That was
probably for the best. There were a few things she needed to understand before
he fucked her brains out.
Becca didn’t
notice Griffin had taken Linc’s place until he was a bare two feet away in the
crashing waves. He had stripped on the beach so that when she felt some sixth
sense of danger and turned she was faced with her second naked man of the day.
This one bigger and infinitely scarier than the last. He was beautiful enough
to astound her even as she thrashed back in the water to keep space between
them. He stopped when he saw he had her attention.
Lord the man
was beautiful. All golden muscles and giant cock. He was long and thick,
thrusting out of a trim thatch of black hair. She hadn’t really gotten a good
look at Jacob, but she was pretty sure Griffin was bigger. Had to be, there
was no way that monster would fit. Unfortunately, from the look of it and the
feral gleam in his eyes that was what he had in mind. She started breathing so
hard she was afraid she was going to hyperventilate. She could only handle so
many shocks in one day.
“I think you
might have gotten the wrong idea about me,” she said trying not to stare at his
weapon in panic. “I really, really am not what you think I am.”
“What’s
that?” he asked his voice a gravely purr.
“I don’t
sleep around, not at all before today actually.” She scooted back across the
sand until she was deep enough to stand without getting pushed over. “You
might find this hard to believe but Jacob was only my second sexual partner and
I am sore, tired, and really scared.”
He took a
step and then froze at her words. “You’re second.”
“Yes.”
“And you
chose to fuck Jacob on the floor of the Pleasure Boutique?” His voice was
noticeably doubtful and she took issue.
“Hey,” she
snapped. “First off I did not choose anything. That was kind of an accident.”
“You
accidently fucked Jacob?”
“And
second,” she interrupted, splashing him again. “Just because I had sex with
Jacob does not mean that I’m going to have it with you, or anyone else who
wants me. So you can put that...” She said gesturing to his ginormous cock. “Away.”
He studied
her carefully under beetled brows. “It doesn’t work that way. You’re an Alpha
female and you’ve been marked which means that the pull you feel right now for
Jacob will be ten times more powerful on his side. You will not be able to
leave the island and I cannot have an alpha female in my pack without claiming
her. My wolf wouldn’t allow it.”
He started
forward as if the conversation was over and she skittered back, putting up two
hands to stop him. “Time out! Wait, Dang it. I don’t feel pulled to Jacob!”
That stopped
him waist deep in the water about two arm lengths away. “What?”
“I don’t
feel pulled to Jacob.”
“You lie.”
“I do not.”
“You’re
telling me you don’t feel the need to find him? Touch him? Smell his scent on
your skin?”
She shook
her head. “Nope.”
“That’s not
possible.” His eyes were narrowed and his fists clenched.
“Says the
werewolf.”
“I smelled
the bond between you.”
“We’d just
had sex. Maybe that ‘s what you smelled.”
“Get out of
the water.”
“What?
Why?”
“I need to
smell you again and I can’t do it underwater.”
“Okay…
except the last time you smelled me you started to get all freaky.”
He spoke
through gritted teeth. “Out of the water now.”
She really
didn’t want to. She took the long way; careful to stay out of reach, but hit
the beach with Griffin right on her heals.
He walked
naked around her as she dripped salt water. She curled her toes through the
hot sand. It was warm enough and humid enough that it felt good, but she would
still rather be far away. She tried hard not to look at him in all his naked
glory. He leaned down and smelled her neck. She tipped her face up to give
him access. He seemed content to talk to her collarbone.
“I still
smell him on you.”
“I didn’t
exactly have soap. If you let me go back to my room I can take care of that
and you can smell me again later.” If she wasn't on a plane and off the island
before he hunted her down.
He leaned
closer and sniffed deeper. She knew when he did that full body shudder she was
in trouble. She tried to step away and he grabbed her arms so fast she didn’t
see him move. He growled out a warning.
She
remembered what Linc had said. “Control yourself Alpha!” She snapped it out
making him raise his eyes to her face. His eyes had gone wolf. Her voice
gentled. “Please. I can’t handle anymore now. Please.” Her eyes beseeched
with unshed tears.
She watched
him take back control and step back. She breathed out a shuddering breath of
relief. “Thank you.”
“Come,” he
said. His voice still the gravely half beast rumble. He led her away from the
hotel.
“Where are
we going?”
“Come.”
Becca
supposed she should just be happy he hadn’t thrown her down and mounted her on
the beach. So she followed behind, her hand trapped in his hard grip. It
didn’t hurt but she got the distinct impression he was not going to let go.
She hoped it wasn’t an omen of things to come. Surely, there was a way to get
off Werewolf Island intact?
