“
I deal with it,” I shot
him a pointed look; “you don’t have to worry.”
“
Well I disagree on that,
Jennifer. You shouldn’t have to deal with anything. Your dad is
fucked up and you need to understand that wasn’t your fault and
move on.”
“
It is what it is Stefan.
It’s not that easy to forget about and move on.” I huffed the air
through my lungs. How could I just forget about that and move on? I
couldn’t, I’ve tried.
Stefan shrugged and glanced down at
his watch again and held out his hand. I grabbed it and we began
walking to the door. We threw our cups away and I was suddenly
overpowered by a strong sadness for having to leave him. There was
no place I wanted to be more than in his presence.
We got to the car and I scanned the
parking lot for Charles and saw the black SUV parked on the other
side of the lot. Stefan walked me over to the car and opened the
door, closing it as soon as I stepped in. Charles pulled up next to
Stefan’s car and rolled down his window and the two exchanged some
words and nodded.
“
What was that all about?”
I ask once Stefan is seated in the drivers’ seat.
“
Just telling him what we
were doing so he knew where to go.” Stefan turns the key and the
car comes to life. Just starting it, you could hear the power under
the hood.
We drove in silence to my house, each
of us in our own world thinking about everything. When we pulled up
to the house I let out a sigh; who knew how long it would be until
I saw him again?
Stefan looked over at me and brushed
the bangs out of my eyes. “I really had a nice time this
afternoon.”
“
Me too. I’m so sorry about
what happened last night. I’m so embarrassed.” I looked down at my
hands, not wanting to make eye contact with him. He placed his
finger under my chin, forcing me to look directly into his dark
eyes.
“
I’m just glad you’re
okay.”
His lips touched mine and I suddenly
forgot how to breathe. He slipped his hand to the back of my head,
gently grabbing my hair. Softly, he tugged my head back and
released my lips from his. He kissed a trail down my neck and back
up my jaw line but stopped before reaching my lips; he pulled my
head back down, looking deep into my eyes. He was waiting for me to
stop him, turn away, but I couldn’t. I wanted this.
“
Please,” I
whispered.
He crushed his lips into mine again
and slipped his free hand under my shirt, caressing my breast. A
moan escaped my lips.
Without warning he stopped and pulled
away, leaving my body craving more.
I tried to calm my breath
as Stephan reached over and straightened my shirt; his eyes never
leaving mine. He got out of the car and walked around to my
side.
Why in the hell did he
stop?
“
Thank you for the coffee,”
I said as he opened the door for me to get out.
“
You’re very welcome.” He
walked me to the door, grabbed my face in his hands and kissed me
on the forehead.
On the forehead! Couldn’t
he just go a little lower?
“I’ll call you
later, Jennifer.” He smiled and turned walking back to his
car.
He flashed me his seductive smile
before driving away.
A few moments later I saw the black
SUV pass by. I was glad he was safe.
I opened the door, quickly
closed it and sunk down to the carpet, landing on my butt. Why did
he take my breath away? He was a drug to me; I had to have him
around
.
Chapter Four
I woke up to Kennedy yelling my name.
I looked at my alarm, 6:30 p.m. I ran downstairs to Kennedy who was
signing her name on a paper and being handed a huge bouquet of
flowers. There were roses, and tulips, and dandy lions... I just
stood there amazed by them.
“
Are you going to come get
your flowers or what?” Kennedy said, staring at me. Did she
say
my
flowers?
“
What….?” I grabbed the
flowers and set them down on the bar.
“
Who the hell sent these?”
Kennedy asked, searching the flowers for the card. When she found
it she pulled it open and looked at it. Her face suddenly went to a
smile and she handed me the card.
“
Can’t stop thinking about
you
Hope these aren’t too
much.
Looking forward to seeing
you again.
~Stefan”
I blushed and placed the card down by
the flowers.
“
Oh no, you’re getting in
too deep with him,” Kennedy said in a mocking tone. “What all
happened?”
“
Nothing happened, not
really. We just went for coffee this morning. That’s it.” I walked
away, signaling I was done with the conversation.
“
I’m not done with this,
Jennifer Rene!” Kennedy shouted at me. I smiled and made my way to
my room. Laying down on my bed, I couldn’t wipe the stupid smile
from my face. I heard my phone buzz and grabbed it off my night
stand. It was a text from a number I didn’t recognize. My heart
suddenly fell into my chest as I realized who it was.
*hello beautiful. How did
you like your gift?*
I smiled even bigger.
*I’m sorry, who is this?
It’s hard to remember who
is who around
here.*
I sent the message, but regretted it
as soon as I hit send.
*I am going to assume
you’re kidding…*
Just answer his damn
questions Jennifer, stop trying to be a smart ass.
*Yes, I was kidding,
sorry. I love my flowers, thank you
So much! You didn’t have
to do that!*
*It was the least I could
do. I can’t stop thinking
about today. Being in the
coffee shop with you.
And the car…*
My cheeks flammed red; he
was thinking about
me
not anyone else, but
me
. I loved that thought.
*Me too. I had a lot of
fun. Thank you again (:*
*Can I take you on a date
tonight? Just the two of us?*
Did he just ask me out on a
date?
Do you even have to ask?
Play it cool Jen, play it cool.
*I am not sure if I am
free. I will have to check
My calendar. Please
hold.*
I waited a couple of minutes; no
response. Crap! He’s probably pissed. Shit! Okay,
think…..
*Jus
t
checked, I am free tonight. Last
minute
Cancellation.
(:*
*Great, I will pick you up
at 8?*
*I’ll be
waiting…*
I threw my phone on the bed. I’ll be
waiting…….what the hell was that? I ran downstairs; Kennedy was on
the phone with Ayden. She noticed my silly smile and perky self so
she quickly ended the conversation with Ayden and hung up, eyeing
me.
“
Why are you so
happy?”
“
I’m going out with Stefan
tonight; I won’t be out late. I have class tomorrow, but I just
wanted to let you know.” I ran back upstairs to start getting
ready.
At ten minutes to 8, I walked down the
stairs wearing a red dress that hugged me in all the right places.
It came to my upper thighs and had a V neck that showed off the
only diamond necklace I owned. I paired the dress with a pair of
black pumps. I had my hair down and curled in loose curls, and had
on a little more make up than I usually wore. Kennedy about dropped
her water when she saw me. I smiled and headed for the door.
Kennedy walked into the living room and grabbed my arm.
“
Where are you guys going?”
She asked, sounding concerned.
“
I’m not sure; he just said
he wanted to take me out.” Kennedy smiled and let go of my arm. I
could tell she was worried, but this was my decision. There was
something different about him. Even with his past, what I knew of
it, and everything he had gone through, he was still like a breath
of fresh air when he was around me.
“
Well, have fun, and if you
need me, please call. I will drop everything to get to you.”
Kennedy hugged me and whispered into my ear, “please be
careful.”
I nodded.
Stefan knocked on the door. I opened
it and had to hold on to the door frame to balance myself, he was
sex on legs. He was wearing a light brown cable shawl cardigan over
a white V neck with a light pair of True Religion jeans and some
chucks. His hair was still kind of wet but as I opened the door I
caught him running his hands through his it.
He looked so sexy.
“
Good evening, Jennifer.
You look absolutely amazing tonight.” He smiled and grabbed my
hand.
“
You don’t look too bad
yourself.” I turned to see Kennedy standing there just as paralyzed
as I was. “Bye.”
Kennedy waved at me as I shut the door
behind me.
I let him lead me to his car. Instead
of climbing into his Mercedes, he opened the door to the back seat
of the SUV and helped me in. Charles turned around to look at me.
“Good evening Miss White.” He nodded.
“
Good evening, Charles.” I
turned as Stefan was climbing into the back seat.
“
I didn’t feel like driving
this evening, so I’ve asked Charles.” He hit a switch that brought
up smoked glass, separating us and Charles. I looked at Stefan and
smiled. I was glad to be able to have our privacy.
“
Still don’t believe me?”
Stefan looked at me. I went to interject but Stefan shouted
Charles’ name, startling me. Charles kept his eyes on the road
driving. I couldn’t help but giggle.
“
Okay, I believe you! Where
are we going?” I was giggling.
“
It’s a surprise. You will
see when we get there.” I probably should have told him how much I
hate surprises, but maybe it was best I hadn’t.
“
I missed you.” He
intertwined his hands in mine.
“
I missed you too,” and
there it was again, his delicious, kissable, sexy lips on mine.
Right on cue, my brain powered off and all the oxygen in my body
spilled out through my mouth. His breath was hot in mine as his
tongue explored my mouth and twirled around my tongue. He leaned me
back against the seat, settling his body on top of me. He pulled my
dress up on my thigh and grabbed my leg, bending it up next to him.
I was secretly hoping this was our date and that our clothes would
end up as a shredded mess on the floor of the SUV.
He grabbed my wrists and pulled them
above my head, never unlocking our lips. He took his other free
hand and ran his fingers down my throat.
His hand stroked downwards, and he
pushed his hand under my strapless bra, teasing my
nipple.
“
Look at me,” he growled
under his breath. I hadn’t even realized my eyes were closed so I
quickly opened them, preparing to get lost in his eyes.
I pouted at the fact that his lips
were close, but so far away. A small smile tugged at the corner of
his mouth.
“
Are you pouting, Miss.
White?” He was defiantly getting amusement from this.
“
Not in the slightest.” I
reached up until my lips met his again.
“
Bad girl,” he breathed
into my mouth between kisses. We spent the next moments kissing as
he played with my breast. He hadn’t touched me anywhere else, but I
already felt like I was going to orgasm.
He pulled his lips away from mine and
pulled me up, fixing his shirt and pants. I look down to find him
as eager and excited as I was and I can’t help smiling, knowing I
did the same thing to him as he did to me.
I adjusted my dress and pulled it back
down to where it belonged and ran my hands through my hair trying
to straighten it out.
We pulled up into an empty building
that looked deserted. I started having a small panic rise up in my
chest. Stefan grabbed my hand and gently rubbed it. “Don’t worry.
Everything is okay.” I looked into his eyes; I trusted him. We got
out of the car and he grabbed my hand to lead me through the front
door. It was an older building that had been abandoned; it looked
like it could’ve been a coffee shop or small restaurant at one
point. We opened the doors and walked through to the stairs. We
walked up a flight of stairs and then he led me over to a ladder
that climbed up to the roof. He went up first and then looked down
with his hand held out. I handed him my clutch and started climbing
the couple of steps. He helped me through the roof and as I was
straightening my dress, I looked up.
I immediately caught my breath. The
whole roof was lit with only white lights hung around the side, and
candles burning everywhere. There was a small table for two sitting
in the middle of the rooftop, red flower petals carefully placed on
top, and a bottle of champagne sitting in a bucket to chill. I
looked over at Stefan who was smiling.
