I took my hands off the backboard and cupped my small breasts in my hands and squeezed them gently and played with my nipples. Charles licked me again, and I heard a slopping sound this time. He clenched my thighs and then licked me higher and hit a spot that sent a wave of pleasure through me. I moaned loudly and positioned myself so that he could continue to lick in that spot. A nub of nerves, bundled and caught tight together, began to coalesce, building slowly in a rush of excitement and pleasure. When I moaned, he licked faster and then clutched my buttocks in his hands and buried his face in me. I let go of my breasts and leaned forward and sighed. I could feel myself wet and excited, ready, and as he licked I lost myself in the night, the time, and thought of us entwined together.

The rising within me increased, but Charles pushed me away, and I rolled off of him and asked, “Is everything alright?”

“My neck is hurting.” He massaged the back of his neck and then turned away from me. “I’m sorry. I don’t really know what I’m doing and just wanted to please you.”

I kissed him and wrapped my arms around him. “You did fine.” I reached down and grabbed his penis in my hand. “Just relax and don’t worry about anything. Let’s just have fun and enjoy ourselves tonight.”

When I touched him, I could see a spark of excitement shoot through him, and his body tensed. With the oil all over my palms, I clenched his penis tightly and twisted and slid my hand down and then quickly back up his shaft. “Would you like to be inside me?”

I let go of his penis and then straddled him again. He nodded, and I will always remember his expression. He longed for me to be on top of him, and his eyes were bright with wonder, excitement, and a tiny bit of fear. He was an explorer and knew nothing, but he was learning what he liked, and I lost myself in his innocence. Time passed and the rest of the world fell away from us. I slid down on top of his penis and then rubbed my body against it. He clutched my arms tight and arched his back.

I smiled at him and then took his penis and positioned it below me so that I could ease down on it. When I felt him slip inside, I bore down and placed my hands on his sweaty chest. His nipples were hard and he had closed his eyes in ecstasy. I rose up off him and came down again on his penis, and he opened his eyes wide and gasped for air. He reached for me, and in his face I saw an innocence and newness there that he had only let me see. His climax had sneaked up on him, and knowing a bit more than he, I quickly moved my body up and down until his gasps faded and his grip on me weakened. Sliding off of him, I tugged lightly on his penis and semen dribbled out onto his stomach.

Charles shivered, pulled me close and then kissed me. “I’m sorry that it was so fast …”

“Now it’s your turn.” I lay down on the bed beside him and pushed him down. “I’m going to teach you how to finish your Latin lesson.”

He laughed and scooted himself down his bed so that he had his head between my thighs. I put my two fingers inside me and then slid them out and rubbed my clit for a bit. “I’d like for you to lick me. See that little knob of skin at the top? Start there gently and ease your fingers in and out of me.”

He was a good learner and followed my instruction. I heard a pop from a log on the fire and turned to see tiny sparks jump out onto the ground in front. The flames licked at the wood and consumed it, but the warmth rose up and I moaned. Charles licked me slowly at first and eased his fingers in and out of me. I heard him lap up his semen that dripped out of my vagina, and he kissed me and became more excited seeing me react in pleasure. The memories of the wood from the summer faded away. The two men, their stink and rotten teeth, faded from memory, and supplanting that was a new experience that grew and rose out of me.

Charles kissed me and I took in a deep breath and then hissed. He licked faster and faster, but I took his head in my hands and spoke soft and low. “Slowly. It feels better when you go slow and then speed up little by little.”

He eased a finger into me and then licked me as he slid the finger out. The combination sent a thrill of pleasure through my body, and he picked up on my excitement and continued onward. With no experience and being true and honest, he gave of himself to me, and I relaxed and felt a ball of pleasure building up within me. When he licked faster and built up his speed with his finger penetrating me, I clenched my thighs and bore down, wanting to force the feeling out within me. I closed my eyes and a moment froze in time. I could hear him licking me, the lapping of the semen and my juices, and felt the heat of the fire that reached out and dispelled the winter’s cold. A feeling rose up that I knew from pleasuring myself, and I allowed myself to cross the threshold and time slowed even more. A shiver rushed over me with a violent splurge of energy. I pulled away from him and let the feeling wash over me. Everything felt too sensitive and I gasped, letting the air out of my lungs until a tiny squeak came out of me as well.

Charles rushed up to me and put his arms around to hold me. “Did I hurt you? Is everything all right?”

I heard him and nodded that I was fine, but I could not speak. The wave rushed over me again and I touched myself and another shock passed through me. With the war and the winter, I had not pleasured myself in quite some time. “I’m fine. You did everything fine.”

He wiped his mouth on his hand, and coming down off of his lover’s high, I could see a bit of realization for all the liquids in his mouth. I rolled over and reached for my glass of whiskey and gave it to him. “Here, my little Latin pupil, you’ve earned it.”

“Thank you.” He drank a swig of whiskey and swooshed it in his mouth and then swallowed.

He offered me some, but I pushed it away. Together we lay there, a sweaty, sticky, and oily mess, until the fire burned low. I drifted off to sleep and awoke some time later. The coals were still warm and bright orange in color, but I knew that I needed to go. Poor Stephen had been patient enough.

Charles woke as I moved, and I kissed him. “Thank you.”

He smiled at me and held onto me tight. “No, thank you for convincing me to trust you. It’s not been easy for me, dealing with my injury.” He did not look away in fear this time, but held his gaze steady.

We kissed, and I smiled at him and bounded off his bed. The floor was cold and I quickly dressed and cleaned myself up as best I could. Wrapping myself in my coat, I left him the vial of oil. “To remember me by.”

The aromatic smell hung heavy in the air, and I thought it wise of me to leave him a token of his first time. I wish the boy I had first been with had done the same for me. Charles dressed and pulled the covers up over himself and waved to me. I threw him a kiss, and he asked, “When will I see you again?”

I thought about that for a moment. “Stephen and I will come again, but I can’t say when.”

“Maybe I’ll come to you.” I liked his boldness.

“I would like that.” I waved and knew that if I didn’t leave then that I would want to stay the rest of the night, and if his mother awoke to come down and find us, my house lord would turn me out for my transgression. I left and shut his door behind me and headed back down to the kitchens to gather Stephen.

Chapter 5

On the way back down into the kitchen, I skipped through the halls, and in the dark of night, I wanted to sing. I had such a great burst of energy and could not wait to talk to someone about what had happened between Charles and me. I had been with boys before, but it was fumbling and a few touches here and there with a quick screw in the darkness. My experiences were half-hearted attempts at finding a place of comfort for myself to settle in more than my wanting a true connection with someone. But my experience with Charles was different. I felt alive and in control. I did and said only what I wanted to with him. I felt different and expected that people would see me differently.

I bounded into the kitchen and found Daniel passed out in the corner. Stephen sat on a chair with his feet up on the table, nursing the empty bottle of whiskey. He faced the fire and stared into it as though he searched for answers. He did not hear me come in, and I thought it wise to stop skipping and took a wide turn so that he would have time to see me entering. When I approached, he lifted his head and spoke in a quiet but firm tone. “About time that my lady of the rags is ready to leave. It’s after two.” He scowled at me and put the bottle down on the ground, careful not to make too much noise. “Did you suck his cock dry all this time? I expect he needs time to rest after you fucked him.”

I stood before him and my euphoria crashed inside. “Stephen.”

He put up his hand. “Please, I don’t want to hear anything. We came here together, but you left me down here for hours.”

“I apologize for that. We fell asleep.” I put my arms out to him, but he moved away.

“Of course you did. You had the fucking time of your life and left me here alone.” He glanced over to Daniel. “He passed out after a few drinks, and I’ve been sitting here trying really hard not to think of you and Charles. Maybe after the first two hours I was doing fine, but for these last two, they didn’t go so well for me.”

“I didn’t mean to hurt you.” I didn’t know what else to say. “We should get going before anyone awakens. We need to get back to our carriage and head back. Come on.”

He faced me and put his hands on his hips. “I have a question for you before we go, and I want you to be honest.” He looked away to gather his thoughts and then said, “Did you think about my feelings at all before you fucked him alone in his room for four hours?”

“Stephen, we can talk about this in the morning. Let’s go.” I started to walk away, but he grabbed my arm.

“Did I hit a sore spot with my lady of the rags? How would you have felt if I had fucked someone you liked and left you alone for hours in the kitchens?” He didn’t wait for me to respond but itched for an argument. “I bet you would be angry at me, knowing that I took the boy you liked and put my hand on his cock and let him come in my mouth and then laughed and fell asleep in his arms. How would you feel?”

I ripped my arm away from him and pointed at the doorway. “I’m leaving.” I started to head out of the room but spun around and said, “Charles likes girls. He doesn’t like boys. He’s never going to like you that way. Don’t you get that? If I thought he might like you, I would not have stepped in and taken him from you, but there’s nothing there. I’m a girl, and he likes me. He doesn’t want to be with a sodomite!”

The words left my mouth, and I could not take them back. A surprised look crossed Stephen’s face and then was quickly replaced with one of disappointment and hurt. He gathered his coat and left out another door. I started to go after him, but he turned on me. “If you weren’t so blind, you’d see that it isn’t just boys I like. I like you as well. But you’re too stupid to see that.” He waved me away in disgust. “Just go back to your house lord and leave me alone.”

I stopped and watched his back as he left the kitchens and disappeared from view. The fire crackled, and in the course of a few minutes, my night went from such a great high and a wonderful night of fun and pleasure to an extremely dark place. I gathered myself and rushed outside to find the carriage. Thomas saw me coming and came to greet me. He had moved the horses into the stable since it was so late and cold. He explained that it would take some time for him to bring them out and hook them back up to the carriage, but I didn’t really hear him. I nodded and enjoyed the cold. It nipped at me and made me feel alive. In the sky, the moon hung low and its light blanketed the land. The snow glistened and appeared to glow in magical light with tiny bits of ice that reflected the moonlight. The stars twinkled and a few wispy clouds blew by, and I started to cry, but stopped myself and held it all in because of the cold.

On the way back to the house, I curled up in the back of the carriage all alone with a blanket wrapped around me, and my thoughts drifted back to Charles and to Stephen. I was tired and needed sleep. In the morning, I would feel better, the light of day would erase the dark of night and I would sort everything out. The carriage bumped along on our journey back home, and it resembled my thoughts being jostled around inside. I closed my eyes and kept seeing my argument with Stephen playing again and again in my head. The words he said and mine kept looping over and over like a child trying to annoy his parents with his repetitive speech, saying the same thing over and over again. I opened my eyes and stared up at the moon and cast the memory away. It would not do to dwell too long on what had happened. Instead, I stared out at the road and watched the trees we passed and tried to count them to ease my mind. I lost count after a while, but the road loomed onward, and after a few more minutes, I fell into a deep and troubled sleep.

Alessia watched the inside of the carriage fade away and the trees out on the road fell down through the floor. With the illusion dispelled, she held her empty glass of wine and became startled. “It all looked so real.” She put her glass down and took a moment to reorient herself in my study.

“I have studied many years to master the art of illusion and, one day, you will be able to do this as well.” I took a sip of my wine and watched her face. She was pretty, but not beautiful. I expected the reason why the mayor’s son liked her was because she was spirited.

“What happened between you and Stephen after that night?” she asked me tentatively, unsure of whether I would share with her more than what I had already.

“That is another story for another time. It is late.” I stood up and escorted her to the door.

“But I can’t just leave like this. There’s so many questions that I have.” She stopped speaking and said, “I’m sorry. You’ve given me a gift, and I’ve been too blind to see that.”

“Think about what I showed you, and we can talk in the morning.” I moved away from the door so that she could leave at any time she liked. “I hope you choose to stay and be in the morning class. But, if you don’t, maybe some of my story might give you some help in seeing that you’re not alone. Our stories might be different, but I can understand what you are feeling and want. Love is always complicated.”
