Epilogue

Two months later…

Layla looked around the hall and smiled.

Becca and Logan were celebrating their engagement, and though they were basically already married, it was a grand party.

Almost all of the future wedding guests filled the large room, including Becca’s human family and friends, and there was an abundance of food and drinks. Music constantly pulsed through the DJ’s speakers, and a dance floor had been set up in front of the booth. Near the bar, a pool table had been brought in, and she spotted Tobias racking up the balls.

She walked over to him, slid her hand in his back pocket, and kissed him on the shoulder. In turn, he kissed the top of her head.

“Do you want to play?” he asked.

“Sure,” she smiled.

“Don’t do it, Tobias,” Jacob laughed. “She’s a hustler.”

“Are you about to kick my ass?” Tobias asked.

For the first time in her life, she didn’t worry about the consequences of being herself. Tobias didn’t care if she beat him in a game, or defended herself when necessary. He loved her unconditionally, and he proved it everyday.

“Yes, wolf-man, I am,” she laughed.

“You’re good at everything, aren’t you?”

Was she? The answer used to be yes, but now she didn’t know. There was one thing she’d never tried before, and shock of it had her scared to death.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” Tobias asked.

Shit!

He could feel all of her emotions through her bond.

“I…”

His forehead crinkled, and he leaned into her neck and inhaled deeply. She should have known he would figure it out before she could tell him. She’d never met another shifter who could smell a pregnancy, but Tobias wasn’t a normal shifter. His senses were insanely advanced, and he could do things other shifters had never heard of.

He pulled back and raised an eyebrow in question, and she nodded.

A huge smile spread across his face, but he understood her desire to share the news on a different night.

“You’re going to be an amazing, mom,” he whispered.

“Are you sure?” she asked tentatively. “I’m not—”

“You’re perfect,” he said, cutting her off. “I’m positive.”

“So am I,” she laughed.

Tobias shook his head.

“That was terrible.”

“I know,” she said, “but you still love me.”

“Always,” he confirmed.

Always…

Exactly what she’d always wanted.
