“I want that too,” she agreed. “Do it.”

He kissed her neck and moved his hips faster. He allowed his canines to extend, and when they were both ready to release, he pressed his thumb against her clit and sank his teeth into her flesh. The mark would be highly visible and extend from her collarbone to her shoulder blade.

Olive’s scream into the night triggered several of the town’s bears to roar, intensifying his dominance. Soon her cry of pain became one of ecstasy as the bears continued to roar in the distance. They stopped when he roared his own release, and nothing but their breathing could be heard as he licked the wounds he’d given her.

“That was amazing,” she whispered, resting her head on his shoulder. “Thank you.”

“You’re amazing,” he said.

He wished he could carry her into the house, but instead of feeling disappointed because if his limitations, he decided he’d better figure out other ways to take care of his mate.

“Don’t fall asleep, sweetheart. Let’s go inside first.”

She smiled up at him and then released her legs from his waist. They swam to the stairs together, and she walked out of the pool with him instead of in front of or behind him.

Once inside the house, they turned down the bed and met each other in the middle.

Chapter Seven

Olive woke the next morning when the sun creeped through the window, creating a ray of light across her face. Her shoulder ached a bit and she smiled when she remembered being in the pool with Trent. Two years ago, she would have never had the courage to go outside with nothing under her robe, let alone drop it and enter the water naked.

Trent’s love and acceptance had bolstered her confidence.

Even though he hadn’t said the words yet, and it had only been a week, she knew he loved her. Hearing the words aloud could wait until he was ready.

She looked at her hands and shivered when she remembered what Charles had done.

After Trent loaded her in the car, all she could think about was her ex’s slimy body rubbing against her. The vision had caused her stomach to roll, and as soon as they got home, she escaped into the bathroom alone.

It was only later that she realized how her separation had hurt her bear. She’d watched Trent cut through the water several times before he stopped and sank beneath the surface. She had a feeling he would be sore today, even if he was too proud to admit it.

She felt his erection rub against her ass, and she turned to find him staring at her.

“Good morning, sweetheart,” he said.

“Good morning,” she said, giving him a quick kiss. She rubbed his bicep and laced her hand with his. “How are you feeling? Are you sore?”

“A little bit,” he admitted, “but, I’ll be okay.”

He released her hand and grabbed an envelope off his nightstand.

“An early wedding gift,” he said, handing her the envelope.

Tears welled up in her eyes as she remembered his promise to provide her with a way out of their marriage. He’d kept his word and had his lawyer draw up a contract.

“I don’t want it anymore,” she said, pushing his hand away. “I trust you, Trent. I don’t want our marriage to start out with a divorce clause.”

“I have that, too, but that’s not what this is,” he said, handing her the envelope again.

She stared at it for a long time, scared of what lay inside.

“Open it,” he commanded.

She carefully broke the seal on the back of the envelope and pulled out the papers inside. As she began to read, she sat up, and Trent joined her. The words blurred on the page as her understanding grew.

“You bought me a building?” she questioned.

“Yes, for a restaurant, or café, or whatever you want. It was originally built to be a small diner, but we’re going to renovate. You can design it any way you want it.”

“Oh Trent,” she set the papers aside and hugged him. “I love you so much, thank you.”

“You’re welcome, sweetheart. I love you, too.”

Tears drifted down her face like they had in the restaurant on their first date, but she didn’t hold back. She had a man who loved all of her, including her curves, and he’d given her the means to make her dream a reality.

She pulled away from him and wiped some of her tears away.

“I wish we could get married today,” she said.

“Actually, we can. When I went to see my lawyer, I asked the judge if he had time to perform a short ceremony and he said yes. We’re meeting everyone at the courthouse at noon.”

“Really?”

“Really.”

She squealed and wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him over and over.

“I have to get in the kitchen if I’m going to bake a cake along with all the appetizers for the party.”

She started to crawl out of bed, but he pulled her back by the hips.

“I think the kitchen can wait a few more minutes.”

He captured her mouth in a searing kiss, and the kitchen waited for over an hour.

Later, as she mixed the batter for their cake, she realized Trent had saved her just as she’d saved him. They were a perfect match, and it all started because his brothers had written an ad…and she’d been brave enough to answer it.
