He lost Neala, he’d lost the love of his life.

His vision started to go black as he heard voices around him conversing. In the deep background, he could hear the doctor talking to him, but nothing was passing through Liam’s brain. He wasn’t able to absorb one word because all he could think about was the fact that he no longer had his wife and his little girl was going to have to grow up without a mom. How was he going to manage?

Panic started to take over Liam’s body as his world crashed down around him. His lungs seized on him and breathing was no longer an unconscious act. He struggled to find air to fill his lungs as his body crumpled to the ground.

There was shouting that took place around him, lights flashing in his eyes and his body was moved around by multiple hands, trying to get him to focus and be lucid, but slowly he receded into a dark abyss. It was quiet there, nothing to worry about and no one to care for. He felt no pain as he continued to fall into his cocoon of self-destruction. He was protected, he was in denial, and he was able to hide away from the shitty-ass life that had been handed to him.

“Liam, please. Wake up me boy.” Liam could hear the faint accent of his mother in the background, but he closed her off.

He was much happier floating away, floating toward Neala. That was all he wanted. He just wanted Neala. He didn’t want her last impression being that Liam didn’t love her and didn’t want her in his life. He needed to be with her to show her how much he loved her, loves her.

Tubes were hooked up to his body as he was wheeled around the brightly lit hallways of the hospital, but he pushed everything away as he recessed into the depths of his mind to search for his love…to be with her because that was all he wanted. He wanted his girl, his love.

There was one reason and one reason only Sophie had the piece of metal that was in her hand, it was because her father said she needed protection when she lived alone. When he got it for her, he probably never would have imagined her using it to protect Warblers Point from her toxic personality.

After Bradon berated her in her bakery, she came to the conclusion that she wasn’t doing anyone any favors by sticking around. Who really cared about her anyway? Not the O’Learys, that was for damn sure. Not Murphy, he screwed her and left her hanging the next morning. She didn’t have any girlfriends because they were all connected to Fiona somehow and everyone in town thought she was some kind of evil whore with a Scarlet Letter plastered to her shirt. The only people who actually talked to her were Marge and Maggie…that was probably because she was a hot mess, a ticking time bomb that they couldn’t wait to catch a glimpse of.

Tears fell down Sophie’s cheeks as she picked up the bullets that had never been loaded into the gun her dad got her. She was supposed to go shooting with him a while back, but they never got around to it, which was fine because it wasn’t like she would be shooting long-range.

The deafening click of the bullet settling in place flew through the silence of her house. Her hand shook as she turned the gun around to look at it. It was surprisingly heavy for being such a small gun, but she didn’t care because she wouldn’t be holding it much longer.

She contemplated writing a note, but decided no one would actually care. Most likely, the town of Warblers Point would rejoice at her pulling the plug on her life. She would be doing them all a favor and, since she owed everyone a damn good favor, she lifted the gun to her mouth.

The metal of the gun clattered against her teeth as she tried to hold her hand steady. Streams of tears continued to fall down her face as she took her last breaths.

Silently, she spoke to herself before she ended her misery.

“I never should have come back here. I never should have gotten involved with the O’Learys again and I never should have tried to gain revenge. It only brought me sorrow and despair.” She refused to wipe away the tears from her face as she continued to talk. “I’m sorry for being involved in the fire at The Sleeping Potato. I’m sorry for the lies that I’ve told and the meddling I’ve done in other people’s lives. I’m sorry I have hurt people and I’m sorry that I had a part in Neala possibly committing suicide.”

She aired out all her regrets before she pulled the trigger because, in her mind, she thought that if she confessed her sins and expressed how sorry she was, then she would be able to free some of her demons before kissing the world good bye.

Ready for everything to be over, Sophie put the gun in her mouth, took a deep breath and put her finger on the trigger.

As she started to squeeze the trigger, her front door flew open and Murphy stood in the doorframe, breathing heavily.

The minute he spotted Sophie with a gun to her mouth he screamed “No” and ran at her, tackling her to the ground as the gun went off and everything went black.
