When he arrived in the bedroom, looking as though he was about to get comfortable, I warned, “I don’t think you want to sleep in here with me. You’d probably be a lot safer in another room of the house.”

He gave me the “WTF” look, but then took heed without any further exchange of words. As he was gathering some items from his drawer and the closet, I could hear him mumbling. He was talking big shit under his breath, but he wasn’t stupid enough to make any of it audible.

I decided to back off so I could gather more facts against him. He was neglecting me long before my affair with Eric, which probably means his affair has been going on as long as he’s been neglecting me; if not with Renee, certainly with others. I’ll call Elaine in the morning. Maybe I’ll get some kind of info.

I am still rattled by Harmony. What has come over her? At least I know not to tell her shit ever again. I’m certainly not looking forward to an encounter with Sandy. Maybe I’ll divorce Robert and do like Harmony is doing––relocate to a destination unknown to the family. We have an office in New York, Houston, Chicago, and Los Angeles. I could pick any of them to transfer to. D.C. cold is cold enough for me, so I don’t know if I could handle Chicago cold.

First, let me get to the bottom of this Robert and Renee affair. Then I’ll work everything else out from there.

Charise

I could hear the phone ringing as I turned the key in the door. By the time I reached the phone, it stopped ringing. The caller ID displayed the words “Unknown Caller”.

This is crazy. I’m pregnant and alone. Right now, I need a man by my side. I can’t remember the last time I had a dick up inside of me. Here comes the start of World War III.

Sandy is carrying another man’s baby, not yours.”

What did you say?” he asked, annoyed.

I just found out tonight. Apparently, while you were with me, she was with one of her ex-boyfriends,” I told him.

Where did you get that from?” he asked.

From my sisters. Supposedly, she confided in them. I think that’s why she was planning to return to D.C., so she could be with him,” I answered.

I know I’m wrong, but this will help me get Sandy out of the picture for good. I can have Lewis all to myself. And he wants me to come to Denver to be with him.

Lewis got quiet, so I called out, “Lewis, are you there?”

He stuttered. “Yeah…yeah…yeah, sexy, I’m here. I’m just trying to digest what you just told me.” He then said, “Yeah, I made the right decision when I picked you. You’re loyal to your man. I need that.”

He knows all the right things to say. I don’t know about living in Denver, though.

Again, he chuckled. “Okay, I’ll work on a different place then. So you’ll be okay with whatever I choose, right?”

Yes, baby,” I answered. “I’ll just be happy that we’re together, as long as it’s not in Denver.

We both laughed.

I was lying in the bed on my back, feeling on top of the world.

Baby, please don’t take so long to call me next time. I was getting stressed out,” I told him.

I’m sorry. I had to figure out things on my end, and with Sandy telling me she was expecting, it just complicated matters. But, now that you tell me she’s expecting some other dude’s kid, things just got less complicated. As soon as I get another cell phone, I’ll give you the number. I don’t want to make any move that gives Sandy any rights. Right now, if I get a cell phone with a contract, she’ll get a record of my calls somehow. It’s just too much drama,” Lewis said.

“
Honey, I miss you. The baby is growing, my tits and butt are getting bigger, and you’re missing it,” I expressed like a whiney kid while rubbing between my legs. “Can you fly in and come see me for a couple of days?”

I can do better than that. I can be there in about an hour. I’m in Baltimore at my boy’s house. I could have been there already, but I couldn’t reach you,” he answered.

Harmony

Alright, so maybe I was wrong for doing what I did, but it sure felt damn good to get all of their nonsense off my shoulders. The look on all their faces was priceless. I wish I had the whole thing on video so I could watch it over and over when I need a good laugh. And the fight between Elaine and Kelly…if only I could have been a fly on the wall for that. Let me stop laughing. I probably can’t show my face back in that restaurant again because of them. Oh well, I’m moving soon anyhow.

I’m flying back to Houston tomorrow. I decided to get an apartment instead of a house. I figure if things actually work out for Todd and I, we’d have one house too many. If it doesn’t, then I could take my time finding the house that I want when I know the areas better.

I’m definitely looking forward to spending time with Todd. He made the last two trips here to D.C. I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to hold out sexually. Just being around him causes my hormones to rage. He says he’s okay with waiting as long as I want to. I’m trying to take a page out of Kelly’s book, with the waiting period. She makes a good point about getting to know the man you give your body to.

The entire time we spent in Mexico, I was waiting for Todd to show some sign of sexual frustration, to gauge his ability to actually hold out. He was perfect. He didn’t push the issue one time. At one point, I wondered if he had a swarm of women, but I guess if they were anything significant, they would have been sharing his vacation rather than me. When I asked why he was single, he told me that he only seems to meet women who come in as patients, and he would never allow himself to get caught up with his patients. He also said he works a lot to occupy his time, so that leaves him single.

We had two bedrooms in our suite in Cancun, and each night, he graciously returned to his own room. That made him all the more attractive to me. Each time he came to D.C., he retired to my guest bedroom without any pressure. The truth is I want him more each time, but I will at least hold out until I finish my relocation. Just two more weeks, and I will be done with D.C. for good.

I couldn’t believe Elaine invited me over to her place. To be honest, I’m a little scared of what she has in store for me. Maybe she wants to finish up the fight from last week.

I was happy when the restaurant agreed to drop the charges as long as Elaine and I paid the $9,000 fine. I wasn’t too happy with the amount, but it beats being in jail and having a criminal record that would have made us pay restitution anyway. I have to give kudos to Elaine’s attorney who worked that deal out. My attorney wasn’t worth a damn. I guess Elaine wants to see me so she can bully me into paying her $4,500 share and attorney fees. That would be classic Elaine, the money-hungry bitch.

When I arrived, she greeted me with a hug. Scary! I returned the hug.

Thanks, sis, for coming,” Elaine said, seeming genuine.

I will admit I was very reluctant,” I replied, still nervous.

I understand,” she said. “Can I get you something to eat or drink?”

Lord knows I was both thirsty and hungry, but fear wasn’t going to let me accept anything.

We made it to her living room and sat across from one another. My eyes surveyed my surroundings for any sign of weapons. The two machetes hanging over her fireplace only increased my fear.

Take it easy, Kelly.” Elaine spied my concern. “I’m not going to attack you or anything. Actually, I wanted to give you this.”

She picked up a folded paper and handed it to me. I gasped when I saw it was a check for $4,500.

Elaine! What…what is this?” I stuttered

I felt as though I owed you that. You shouldn’t have had to pay that fine. The fight was my fault, and I’m accepting responsibility.”

Just like her ass to want to show somebody up. She just had to be the bigger one and make me feel like shit.

No, Elaine! I can’t accept this. The fight was just as much my fault. I shouldn’t have stood up in your face saying all those mean things,” I said, determined not to let her be the bigger one.

Well, you might feel differently after I tell you what I have to tell you,” she responded.

Elaine looked nervous as hell. She started fidgeting with her hands, and then began. “You were on to something when I jumped up at you, but it’s not quite the way you probably think it is.”
