I was hungry and not for food. I needed blood. And then, he was at the door---Aiden!

"Hey Baby, can we talk?" he humbly asked, leaning in the doorjamb.

No, I couldn't possibly do it to him.

    "There's nothing to talk about."

"I think there is. Can I come in?"

I forcefully quelled the urge to bite him and stepped aside, allowing him entrance. He closed the door behind him. My eyes rested on the pulsing spot on the nape of his neck. I could hear the blood pumping, smell it. It was as delicious as he looked.

I made an effort to pull myself together. I even went in the kitchen and pulled out a bottle of beer that I pretended to like. I offered him one but he declined.

"Look, I respect that you wanted to take things slow between us and I'm sorry you thought it was happening to fast, but the fact of the matter is, I care a hell of a lot for you, Lucy and I think you got scared because you're starting to share those feelings. I don't want us to end. We were having too much fun together. So, let's keep it like that. We don't have to see each other as often, if you don't want and maybe, eventually, things will die down but I believe we should give us a chance."

Oh, I wanted to take him to bed and draw his blood! "I guess we can see each other once in a while."

Aiden smiled. Unable to control the surge of sexual desire raging through my body, I wrapped my arms around his neck and caressed his sensuous mouth. In the back of my mind, I could see Draco scowling but I didn't care. I just found a new freedom.

We tumbled on the sofa and our clothes were stripped in moments. My sexual prowess was so heightened I had multiple orgasms. My tapered black nails tore at his flesh, sending me into a fevered frenzy. I licked the blood. I wanted more. I bit his shoulder and drew out what little blood I could. Aiden was in a heightened euphoria and didn't care what I was doing to his body.

When the moment finally came that we joined, our orgasm was explosively powerful, leaving Aiden in a dazed state.

After a few silent moments where we just held one another, he finally said, "Baby, I don't know what got into you tonight but you were beyond superb. I mean you were always passionate but tonight….wow!"

Yeah, I was good! I thought. "You do realize, with our new deal, you can't spend the night."

He removed his arm from around me, heavily sighing. "I know. That's okay, I have an early morning."

I watched him gradually cover that delicious brown body. "And, I'll call you when I want to see you again."

He cast me a side glance. "You really are calling all the shots."

I shrugged. "It's the only way this can work."

He held up his hands, "Okay. Okay." He agreed.

Fully dressed, he leaned down and kissed me. He made a strange face. He must have tasted the blood on my lips. He caressed my cheek, "Thanks for tonight, Baby. Call me soon."

    "We'll see."

With a disappointed look in those soulful brown eyes, he waved and departed.

I flopped back on the pillow, staring up at the ceiling. I used Aiden to satisfy an urge I was barely able to control. I had become what I loathed.

CHAPTER THIRTY FOUR

I woke in the middle of the day feeling like I had a hangover. Now I know why vampires sleep during the day. That, and because the sun hurts their eyes. But I woke to let Jack into the flat. I set the kettle on the burner with a bang and placed a hand on my throbbing brow.

"Are you having a hangover?" Jack asked, concerned. I must have looked like hell.

"No." I grumbled. "It's this darn daylight. You really need to come later in the day; like dusk."

"Is that all part of becoming a vampire?" he innocently queried.

I opened my mouth and bared my fangs. "I am one."

He jerked back in his seat. "You aren't going to…"

"Bite you? No. I took that urge out on Aiden last night."

    His brows arched. "Aiden?"

I nodded, pushing the hair back out of my bloodshot eyes. "He came over last night to talk. My insatiable vampire urge for blood and sex overcame me."

"You mean, he's going to become a vampire?"

"No, I did manage to control the bite to his shoulder. That, and I tore at his flesh with my nails during copulation to get at the blood."

     Jack cringed.

     "I know, it's disgusting. I'm disgusting."

"You're not going to become like Donnie?"

"No. My maker knew what he was doing."

"Poor Donnie. Well, at least now, he's at peace."

"No, he isn't. A stake through the heart only paralyzes a vampire. He'll remain in a deep, vampire slumber until someone accidentally or purposely digs him up. And, I know where he's buried."

     "Where?"

"On the outskirts of London. It's where all the vampires from generations sleep. I went there last night to visit his grave and say good-bye. That's when Draco turned me."

"You got to visit his grave?" he sadly asked.

     "Would you like to go?"

      "Could I?"

"I could take you tonight. But you can't bring any flowers or candles. No humans are allowed in the cemetery."

      "And, if I get caught?"

"You'll be with me. You'll be okay."

Jack smiled, pleased. The kettle whistled and I turned off the burner and poured the water in our mugs.

CHAPTER THIRTY FIVE

Jack feared walking into the cemetery. It was dark, with barely any light from the moon and deathly quiet. We stopped at Donnie's grave site. Jack looked at me skeptically.

"Are you sure this is Donnie's grave? There's no marker."

     "I'm sure."

He went on his knees at the mound of fresh dirt and gingerly ran his hand over it. "I miss you, Donnie." He choked a sob. "If only you'd told me what was going on at that club. I would have forgiven you and taken you back. Maybe then, you'd still be with us today." He swiped at the tears falling on his cheeks. He glanced at the nearby graves. "There's no tombstones in here."

     "Because it's a vampire graveyard."

I turned to the man who spoke. "Draco!"

Jack quickly stood up beside me; frightened by Draco's presence.

"Don't worry, he won't hurt you." I assured with a menacing look at Draco.

He subtly grinned. "She's right. Let's just say, I have a vested interest in your blood."

    "Is he the one that…?"

I nodded at Jack. I heard him reflexively gag.

"Vampire cemeteries have no grave stone markers or tombstones. It isn't like we come and visit our dead; or in the cases here, in deep slumber. There are plaques in the mausoleum of vampires who were captured and staked hundreds of years ago. Mostly the rich put them there."

"So none of these vampires are at peace?"

Draco looked at me and I repeated what he told me the other night. "Vampires are never at peace. Considering what our lives are like while we walk the earth, do you really think we'd find peace in heaven?"

Jack's expression was emphatic. "I'm so sorry, Lucy."

I shrugged. "As much as I loathe what I've become, I've also learned to accept it."

"Now, both of you, leave this place and don't come back. If you're caught, you'll have your own grave." Draco warned.

"I didn't think a vampire would stake another vampire." I commented.

     "We don't. You'd be dead."

"I think we better leave now." Jack nervously suggested.

I glared at Draco when I answered, "I'm not afraid of what some vampire can try and do to me." I sighed and turned to Jack. "But, for your sake, we'll leave." Sharply rounding on Draco I decreed. "Without an escort."

Draco grabbed my arm. I snarled at him. He leaned close to me, "Don't let me regret what I did."

"I'll do my best to be sure of it." I retorted. I yanked free of his grip. "Come on, Jack, let's go."

As we left the cemetery, I felt Draco's gaze on my back. I didn't care. I was no longer afraid of anything or anyone. I just didn't care what happened to me.

CHAPTER THIRTY SIX

I knew he was drunk by the way he reeled down the street. He would be easy prey. So I followed him until we came to a side street and then I was on him. Before he knew what hit him, my fangs were in his neck and I was sucking his blood. It tasted like alcohol. I liked it. When I let him go, he slid down the wall and slumped over. I turned and hurried down the alley-like street.

There was a pub nearby and I went in to sit for a while. What I didn't expect to see was Aiden seated at the bar with a beautiful black girl, laughing and conversing over a pint.

     "Aiden."

He paused and turned to me. If his face could pale, it would have. "Lucy." He jumped off of the stool. "I didn't expect to see you here."

"Obviously." I replied, turned and marched out of the pub.

Why was I so jealous? I'm the one that put the skids on the relationship. I just wanted to go home.

I was in my flat, having a beer; yes, I still drank them even though it lost its flavor, when someone knocked on my door. I glanced at the clock. It was after eleven o'clock. I curiously answered. Aiden stood, humbled on the other side.

     "Can we talk?"

I stepped back. He passed me into the flat and I closed the door. I started back for the kitchen.

"I wanted to explain about tonight."

I rounded on him, flung my arms around his neck and clung my lips to his. He moaned as our tongues touched and pushed me against the table. I leaned back; Aiden pressing atop of me. He pulled off my jeans and panties. I cried out when he licked my sensitive area. After bringing me to a climax, he inserted his fingers and then his phallus. I thought the table would break under the thumping. We exploded in orgasm and he laid his head on my bare belly, caressing my hip.

"Baby, you just keep getting better." He breathlessly complimented.

I pushed myself up by my elbows, and, giving him a nudge, I got off of the table, pulling up my pants. He zipped up his own as I opened the fridge.

     "You want a beer?"

"No. I want to explain about what you saw tonight."

I held up my hand. "You don't owe me an explanation. It isn't like we're seriously in love. We're just two people having good sex." I popped off the cap and downed a mouthful of beer.

"Okay, but I had just met her before you came in and we started talking."

"I told you, I don't care who you talk to. It just surprised me, is all."

"Then, why did you storm out like you did?"

"I didn't feel I belonged there at that moment."

He didn't look like he believed me. "Do you want me to stay the night?"

I lowered the bottle from my mouth and shook my head. "No."

"All right, then I'll say good night." He slipped his arms around my waist and kissed me. "Thanks."

     "For what?"

"For tonight. It was more than I expected. Even though your body always feels so cold, you are one hot Mama."

I slapped his bulging bicep. "Go."

"Don't wait too long to call me."

I pressed a smile. He kissed me once more and I watched him leave. I drained the bottle and tossed the empty container in the trash bin. I wondered how he'd feel if he knew he was banging a living corpse. That's what I was, after all. The thought repulsed me. I imagine it wouldn't go over too well with Aiden.

With a sigh, I went in the parlor; and curling on the sofa, worked on my laptop. Since becoming a vampire, I had a lot to write about.

CHAPTER THIRTY SEVEN

Jack asked me to take him to the vampire club. Considering what happened with Donnie, I was cautious but after some pleading, on his part, I gave in.

We sat at my usual table on the second floor with our drinks. I had Scotch and he had Vodka and cranberry juice. His eyes were wide with wonder and excitement; much like a child in a toy store at Christmas.

A young man came to our table with another Vodka/cranberry for Jack. He smiled and indicated the man at the bar, sipping his drink, watching Jack's reaction. Jack picked up the drink and returned the smile to the man at the bar. As the bartender left our table, the man from the bar sauntered toward us.

     "Hello." He greeted.

     "Hi." Jack shyly returned.

     "My name is Bobby."

     "Jack."

     "Would you like to dance?"

Jack glanced at me. I scrutinized the young man standing at the table, waiting for an answer. He wasn't a vampire so I nodded. Jack brightly smiled and stood.

     "I'd love to."

The two joined hands and went downstairs. I saw them in the crowd on the dance floor.

"Was it wise to bring your friend?"

I turned to Draco, now seated across from me. "He'll be fine." I defended.

"You thought that about your other friend."

"Jack knows different. Besides," I glanced at the couple downstairs. "The guy he's dancing with isn't a vampire."

Draco sighed. "You really shouldn't be friends with a human. It could be dangerous."

"He's safe with me. And, considering you saved him with your blood, you won't let anything happen to him."

"There's no guarantee I won't decide to change him or at least, bite him."

"Well, there is with me." I firmly stated. "Now, go away. I'm here to relax."

He snorted, "You chase me away? I own this club."

"So, go do what you need to do for the club."

     "What I need is you."

     "You can't have me."

He wickedly smiled. "I already do. You can't get away from me, my luv, so just accept it." He leaned close. I could feel his cold breath on my face. "You're mine for eternity." He chortled, got up and walked away.

I gulped down my drink. How could I hate and be attracted to someone so much? He was right; I was his for eternity. I admitted that I could not survive as a vampire without him. He was my creator and the bond goes deep.

Jack and Bobby returned, breathless, to the table. Jack invited Bobby to join us. I really wasn't in the mood for company but I persevered for Jack's sake. He needed to move on from Donnie and Bobby, from what I could sense, was a decent guy. Although I did sit quietly for most of the night while Jack and Bobby enjoyed one another's company. But the night came to its inevitable end and we had to leave. The guys exchanged numbers with the prospect of seeing one another again and Jack and I left the club.

As we were walking out the door, I sensed Draco watching me. I turned in the doorway and lifted my gaze to the second floor where he stood, leaning on the rail. He pulled on his forelocks. I turned and walked out of the club with Jack; high from the evening's events.

"Oh, Lucy, I can't thank you enough for taking me here. I needed to move on. Bobby is great. We have so much in common."

"I'm glad." I half-heartily replied as we walked through the frigid night. I don't even think Jack was aware of how cold it was.

He was getting out of breath, trying to keep up with my brisk pace until I suggested we get a cab. Though he didn't say anything, I believe he was grateful that we did.

The driver let Jack off at his flat first and then he took me home. It was past four a.m. when I walked through my door. As I took off my coat and went in the parlor to take off my boots, I suddenly felt alone. My mood was dour as I changed into pajamas and opened the sofa bed. Climbing under the covers, I realized how much I missed Aiden but knew that our relationship could never work.
