Sofie’s head slumps forward and she sucks in deep breaths in an effort to pull herself back together after the powerful orgasm. But my dick is aching so much it doesn’t intend to give her much time to recover.

“Calvin, I can’t… That was…”

I slam my cock into her. Hard. Her words turn to a squeal of delight.

“What was that?” I ask, teasingly.

She tries to look back at me, but another hard thrust from my dick nearly pushes her off balance. She moans in ecstasy, and I can’t help the cocky smile on my face.

I love the way she looks when I’m inside of her. I love the way her eyes widen, as though she’s been blind her whole life but is finally able to see. The look on her face tells me that there can’t possibly be anything better than having my dick fill her up.

And there’s no place I’d rather be than inside of Sofie Bennett.

She lets out another low moan.

“Big…
so
big…”

I draw a hand back and slap her ass. The loud crack echoes throughout my room. A red handprint appears on her perfectly shaped asscheek and my breath catches in my throat for a second.

Was that too hard?

Sofie turns and shoots a look back at me. The corner of her mouth is upturned, letting me know that it wasn’t. I slap her ass, again, eliciting another yelp followed by a similar little grin.

That smile is irresistible. I lean forward and nip at the back of her neck while pumping her even harder. She twists her head backwards until we’re almost cheek-to-cheek.

The feel of her flesh on mine is overwhelming enough to drive me insane.

“You like it when I do that?” I growl into her ear.

She lets out a little moan and says, “I like everything you do.”

Something shifts and expands inside of me. Her words have a power over me unlike anything else.

“Say it again,” I demand.

Her brow pulls together slightly.

“Say what?”

A growl rolls through me.

“Tell me that you like what I do.”

My pure need is taking over. I’ve never felt this close to her before. I’ve never felt this attached to her before. I’ve never felt like this with
anything
before. I need to hear the words come out of her mouth again. I need to hear that I can give her exactly what she needs.

“I
love
everything you do,” she says, passionately, placing emphasis on each and every word.

There’s another shift inside of me, and that’s all it takes.

My abs clench as my orgasm bursts through my cock. Normally I can tell when I’m going to come. Normally I would have time to pull out if I wanted to, or maybe even hold it back long enough to fuck her even more.

But not this time.

This time there is no warning. This time there is no chance to hold back.

My fingers dig into her soft skin as every muscle in my body tightens and constricts at the same time. I let out gasps with each tiny explosion that rips its way through me. Sofie grinds her hips back into me, swirling them in circular motions in time with my pulsing cock.

For a moment the entire world stands still. The only thing I can see is the eager smile on Sofie’s face as she looks back at me. The look in her eye tells me that she felt the same connection I did. The look in her eye tells me she’s feeling the exact same thing as me.

In that moment, I am utterly content with the entirety of my existence. Life, literally, cannot get better than it is right then.

When it’s done, I collapse onto the bed next to her. My chest expands quickly with each breath I take. My heart pounds furiously in my chest. A long time passes before I’m able to form a single coherent thought.

“That was…”

I shake my head at a loss for words.

“Incredible,” Sofie says.

I look down at her and grin.

“It was more than that. Way more.” She bites her lip and curls into my arms. “I don’t want to ever leave this bed,” I continue. “Let’s just live out the rest of our days right here. We can spend every waking hour fucking each other’s brains out.”

She lets out a little giggle.

“And what would we do about food?” she asks, playfully.

I wave a hand.

“We’ll have it catered… along with a cleaning service, too.”

Her smile widens a little, but soon fades into wistfulness.

“You could never do that. You’re a workaholic—you’d go crazy.”

I shake my head.

“I’m already crazy… Crazy for you.
Nothing
else is as important to me as you are.” I give a look around the luxurious master suite of my New York City penthouse, then shake my head, again. “All of this can go to shit for all I care. As long as you’re by my side then nothing can go wrong.”

She beams a smile at me.

“Good. Because I’m not going anywhere. You’re stuck with me.”

The smile I give her is brief, interrupted by a sudden lurch from my cock. I look down, surprised to see it growing hard again. The condom we just used is still wrapped around it, but my cock already wants another taste of her.

Sofie notices it a second after I do. Her eyes widen.

“Again? Already?” she asks.

I wince.

“Is it too soon for you? Do you need a break?”

“It’s not that. It’s just…” She looks up at me. I’m surprised by the hunger in her eyes. “Can you have someone deliver more condoms when they bring us the food?”

She cocks an eyebrow, giving me a wicked smile that sends whatever blood is left in my body rushing to my cock.

“That won’t be a problem,” I say. “I’ll just start buying them by the crate.”

Chapter 7

Sofie

Things can’t get any better in my life. They just can’t. Everything is going amazingly with Calvin—like, better than I ever thought they could.

After the blowup at the restaurant when he found out about Wade, I’d been convinced that I’d ruined everything. I know that would have been the final straw. If things had ended there, then there would have been no hope for us ever working out.

But the world
didn’t
come to an end…

In fact, it feels like the exact opposite happened.

Instead of tearing us apart, the blowup managed to bring us even closer together. I feel a connection and intimacy with him now that I haven’t felt since the first time we’d slept together—since before I caught him with…

Well, that doesn’t really matter, anymore. It’s time to let bygones be bygones. It’s time to let the past stay where it belongs—in the past!

The connection we have now is something meaningful. Something real. It’s deeper and more fulfilling than I ever thought possible.

I can’t imagine anything else ever coming between us, again.

Chapter 8

Sofie

Things might be going perfectly with Calvin, but that doesn’t stop a whole host of new worries from appearing on Monday morning. It’s time to return to the real world, and that means going back to work. It also means the possibility of running into Wade Foster.

After the blow up at the club, I’m not even sure that I want to go back to work. The very thought of having to face Wade, after finding out about all of the lies he’s been telling, is almost enough to make me sick.

I’m not sure what’s worse—the fact that he lied to Calvin about me, or the fact that he lied to me about Rebecca. By themselves, each of those lies makes him despicable. But both of them together...

Let’s just say that if he hasn’t found a reason to fire me already, he won’t have to look too hard after I give him a piece of my mind.

I can’t avoid him forever. I can’t just stop going to work. There are bills and responsibilities. Sometimes being an adult is the worst. Calvin would probably jump at the chance to help me out if I needed it, but my pride would never let me even consider asking him. I’ve made it this far in life on my own—I’m sure I can handle an awkward situation with my boss.

A few days pass without any sight or sound from Wade. I actually begin to wonder if the whole situation is just going to blow over.

But the serenity isn’t meant to last…

It’s Thursday when my phone rings. I glance down at the Caller ID and when I see who is calling my stomach gives a sharp lurch.

Claire Green. Wade’s assistant.

Shit.

The phone rings a few more times while I sit and stare at it. Should I just let it go to voicemail? Maybe if I don’t answer it will be like she never called in the first place.

I let out a groan.

I can’t do that. It’s not like I can hide away forever. Sooner or later I’m going to have to deal with the situation—might as well get it over with.

I take a deep breath and pick up the phone.

“This is Sofie.”

“Good morning, Sofie! It’s Claire—Mr. Foster’s assistant...”

She sounds way too bright and chipper for my liking. She realizes the company phone shows us who’s calling, right?

I instantly feel bad. It’s not like it’s Claire’s fault that Wade Foster is a deplorable scumbag.

“Good morning, Claire,” I say, trying my best to match her enthusiasm.

“How’s your morning going?” she asks, without missing a beat.

Ugh. Small talk.

“Busy as usual. You know how it goes...”

“Oh, tell me about it! I’ll be quick...” Thank God. “Mr. Foster wants to setup a meeting ASAP. He said it’s about the Black account.”

Oh, I’m sure it is.

“Well, I’m pretty busy right now...”

I can almost feel her uncertainty coming through the phone.

“It’s just… He said it’s urgent.”

I close my eyes and stifle a groan. There’s no point in putting up a fight. Wade is like three levels higher than even my own boss—if he wants to meet with me, I can’t really stop him.

“Of course,” I say, finally. “I guess what I’m working on can wait…”

“Oh that’s good to hear,” she says, sounding relieved. “Mr. Foster said he’s available immediately.”

Of course he is.

“I’ll be right up.”

I pinch my eyes shut after ending the call to try and settle the swarm of thoughts buzzing through my head. What in the world does Wade want to talk about? There’s no way that it’s actually work related.

Whatever it is, I don’t trust myself to not say something that will get me in trouble. I have a feeling that, if I say anything at all, I’m going to be jobless before the day is done.

I let out a sigh.

I’ll have to figure out
something
.

I grab a notepad and pen before heading to Wade’s office—may as well keep up appearances that I’m going to a real work meeting. Claire is seated at her desk. Her face lights up with a bright smile when she sees me. She tells me that he’s expecting me and that I can go right on in.

I take another deep breath and give a tiny knock before opening the door and making my way into Wade’s office to face him.

Chapter 9

Sofie

Wade’s office is nice—he
is
an executive in the company, and all. He’s sitting behind his desk, and he looks up at me when he hears me come in. His blue eyes connect with mine, and I immediately notice that there’s something different about him.

Unlike all of the other times that I’ve been in his office, this time there is not even the barest of hints that he’s happy to see me. His jaw is set and there’s an iciness in the way he regards me that sends a chill down my spine. It’s off-putting. I’m not used to getting this kind of reaction from him.

“Sofie... Please, have a seat.”

He gestures at one of the chairs across from him. Even his tone sounds cold.

Wade’s eyes track me the whole way across the room, until I take a seat. Silence passes between us while he studies me. I fight the urge to shift uncomfortably under the weight of his stare, wondering what exactly he’s thinking right then.

Did he want to meet me for a reason, or does he plan to just stare at me for the rest of the morning?

“It’s good to see you again,” he says.

The words lack any emotion.

“Is there something you needed?” I ask. My response is suitably curt. I want him to know that I’m not here for a social visit.

The corner of his lip tugs into a smirk, but the amusement in his face doesn’t stretch all the way up to his eyes.

“We need to talk.”

“About what?”

His head tilts forward and gives me one of his George Clooney looks that used to be a lot more endearing than it is now.

“You
know
what…”

My eyebrows rise.

“Should we talk about the fact that you’re apparently incapable of telling the truth?”

Wade completely disregards the question.

“What do you see in him?” he asks.

“That’s not really any of your business.”

“I thought you were better than that…”

My mouth drops open.

“Better than
what
?”

The smirk on his face hardens.

“Come on, Sofie... You can’t really expect me to believe that you’d fall for a man like Calvin Black. Not after everything he’s done to you…” I raise an eyebrow and he nods. “Yeah, I figured it out that he’s the piece-of-shit ex you were telling me about.”

I shrug my shoulders, indifferent.

“Why does it matter to you who I fall for? Calvin and I talked and worked everything out. The whole thing before was just a big misunderstanding and we’ve moved on from it.”

Wade tilts his head and looks at me as though I just said something crazy. He holds the look for a moment before rising out of his seat. He slips around his oak desk and sits in the empty chair next to mine. The expression on his face is even more patronizing than before.

“You deserve someone better—someone that’s not going to treat you like just another one of their sexual conquests.”

I give him a flat look.

“And I’m guessing you think that
you’re
that person?”

He leans forward and lowers his voice before responding.

“We’d be good together—we both know it. There’s no use denying that there’s something between us.”

My eyes widen. He can’t possibly be serious, can he?
