“What do you want, Ryker?” she whispered.

“You.” It was as specific as I could be.

A grin bloomed on her face and she climbed into my lap,
drawing a laugh from me.

“That’s as good a place to start as any,” she said with a
smile, before lowering her mouth to mine in a demanding, passion-filled kiss.

The tightening in my chest eased. I always knew that every
fire I fought could change my life forever. I just hadn’t realized the kind of
fire that could ignite my heart would come in a brave, beautiful package named
Allie.
