Where do we fly?” Rosa
asked. She was excited, like a little kid. She had dreamed of
flying, and now her dream was about to come true! She could not
believe it.

Rosa tried to hide her
excitement from Jason, but he had already noticed. His smile hadn’t
disappeared from his beautiful face.

I thought we could watch
the sunrise,” Jason replied, the morning sun shining in his
eyes.

If Rosa weren’t ashamed, then she
would have just laughed like a little child and clapped her hands
with delight. Instead, her smile grew wider.

That’s a fantastic
idea.”

He grinned. “I am delighted that you
like it, Ice Princess.”

Then suddenly Jason’s wing appeared.
Rosa inhaled sharply. For a moment, she was speechless. The wings
were so beautiful, so ... She found no words to describe them. Just
like Jason’s hair, his feathers were as black as black night. Every
feather gleamed.

Can I touch them?” Rosa’s
voice was a whisper. Jason nodded. With slow steps, she approached
him and held out her hand. The first contact was like touching
silk. It was so soft. Rosa pushed her hand further in it and felt
the strong muscles of the wings.

They’re beautiful,” Rosa
said quietly, pulling her hand away.

Thanks,” Jason
replied.

How does it work with
your wings? How do they appear?” Rosa said.

My wings are always in
front of me. However, they are then only visible when I need
them.”

Practical.”

Jason nodded then reached out her
hand. “Shall we?”

When she put her hand in
his, a warm tingling spread through her body. She never had thought
that Jason would have such an effect on her—or that she’d fall in
love with him.

But you never know what life has to
offer.

Jason moved closer to Rosa,
so their bodies touched. Immediately her heart beat a hundred times
faster than usual.

You’re so beautiful,”
Jason whispered and gave her a kiss on the forehead. She wrapped
her arms around his neck and clung to him. His warmth filled her
and his breath tickled her neck. A shiver ran through her body.
Jason misunderstood her shudder.

You don’t need to be
afraid,” he whispered in her ear. “I won’t let anything happen to
you.”

Before Rosa could answer, Jason
tightened his arms around her, and rose into the sky.

Rosa’s self-preservation took control
over her. She embraced his neck with her arms while his wings
opened and closed faster, and the balcony below them became smaller
and smaller.

The wind whipped her hair from her
face and tears appeared in her eyes. When they reached the required
altitude, Jason changed his angle and protected Rosa against the
wind.

She only saw Jason’s face. She didn’t
dare to look over his shoulder. But Rosa forced herself to look
down. What she saw caught her breath.

They flew high above the rooftops of
Boston, and she could see Boston’s skyline. The sun was now almost
halfway over the horizon, bathing the city in a warm golden light.
The windows of skyscrapers reflected sunlight as birds flew right
past in front of them.

I’m flying! I’m in the
sky!

She couldn’t believe it. At that
moment, she was glad that she had followed her wish.

Watch the sun,” Jason
said close to her ear. His voice sent shockwaves through her body.
She looked at him. He watched her with a smile – his lips close to
hers.

Rosa quickly looked away and watched
as the sun rose higher and higher. Jason suddenly loosened his grip
around her waist. Panicked, she clung tightly around his
neck.

Do not let me go!” she
cried.

Jason chuckled. “I just wanted to
change my grip.” His strong arms embraced her waist firm. “I would
never let you fall.”

His voice was thick and somewhat
guttural. When she looked at him, his gaze was so intense that Rosa
blushed. The sun was now above the horizon and the two appeared in
its warm rays. Rosa’s eyes narrowed. It was the best she’d ever
seen.

It’s beautiful,” she
murmured.

Yes,
beautiful.”

His voice caused her to look at him.
The attraction between them was throbbing. His lips approached
hers. Rosa closed her eyes and opened her mouth
slightly.

Jason’s lips touched hers slightly,
then he deepened the kiss. Rosa moaned against his lips and stroked
her hand through his hair. She loved his hair and his
lips.

Too quickly, the kiss ended and Jason
asked her, “Shall we fly down?”

Rosa gave him a kiss on his mouth. She
never wanted the beautiful moment to end, but she knew that it
would have to.

Gently, they landed on her balcony.
Rosa stepped unwilling away from Jason.

That was beautiful,
Jason. Thank you,” she said with a smile.

You’re welcome, Ice
Princess,” Jason replied.

Rosa bit the inside of her cheek.
“Then it’s time to say goodbye.”

His face darkened as he nodded
silently.

Well ...” She didn’t know
what to say. Rosa didn’t want to let Jason go. The sudden pain
spread through her chest.

It was nice to meet you,
Jason.” Rosa wanted to say so much more, but nothing came
out

You also,” he replied
quietly.

Maybe we’ll meet again.”
She smiled weakly.

Jason smiled back an. “Yes, maybe.
Take care of yourself.”

You too.”

Then he stepped forward and kissed her
on the forehead. Rosa closed her eyes and savored the kiss. When
Jason stepped back, she sighed in disappointment.

Rosa’s heart cried not to let him go;
her mind said it was for the best.

Goodbye, Jason,” said
Rosa, smiling.

Jason looked at her sadly. “Goodbye,
Ice Princess.”

Then he flew away and disappeared into
the sunlight. Even if hurt, Rosa was glad to have known Jason, and
that she had fallen in love with him. He had changed her world, but
she did not regret anything.

Rosa looked again into the
sky.

And wondered if she would
ever see Jason again.
