was originally a six-episode summer replacement series on CBS-TV. It was such a success that it returned in December 1971 as a regularly broadcast series. In the beginning of 1974 Sonny & Cher divorced, and the last episode of
The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour
was broadcast in May 1974. In the interim, ABC-TV broadcast
The Sonny Comedy Review
(1974), and CBS-TV produced the short-lived
The Cher Show
(1975). Neither show worked successfully. The duo, now divorced, returned with their retooled show, now known as
The Sonny & Cher Show
, broadcast from February 1976 to August 1977.
