Reese dropped the check on her supervisor's desk.
The woman looked up from her computer monitor, then cocked her head to one side as she picked up the thin piece of paper and began to read it. “What's this?” She asked, her eyes wide as hell because she knew exactly what it was.
“It's a grant, specifically for my research.” Reese replied, crossing her arms in a defiant manner.
The woman slowly stood up. “I don't know what to say.” She murmured.
“You could say thank you, because now I get to conduct a study that will, no doubt, make all of us famous.” Reese replied.
She nodded slowly. “We'll have to review your paper again of course.”
Reese rolled her eyes. “For ethical reasons?”
The woman nodded. “For ethical reasons.”
Reese nodded slowly.
She took a step towards her, then, after straightening the jacket of her suit, held her hand out to her.
Reese shook it.
“Congratulations.” She declared, as if she herself had given her the money.

Reese opened the front door to her lab on Waverly to find Daniel waiting for her at the bottom of the steps. He took her hand and planted a kiss on her cheek. “How did it go?” he asked, as he slipped his hand into hers.
She scoffed. “How do you think?” She replied.
Daniel smirked as the two of them walked hand in hand to their favorite coffee place.
