Laughter pulsed from the shifters surrounding us, lightening the mood and turning my goodbye from a moment of surprise to a moment of celebration. I wrapped my arm around my mate’s hips and smiled at my family and friends. I would come back to visit them, of that I was certain. But for the foreseeable future, I needed to support my mate in the work he’d chosen. There would be no pack fighting or Alpha challenges for us. We would find our fate on the highways. Together.
