“liege, are you willing to assist me in topping Allie tonight?” Karl asked him, putting a hand on his shoulder.

Brad considered him for a moment then slowly lowered himself to take the position Karl had taught him. “Yes, Sir,” he said solemnly. “But may I ask a question first?”

“Of course.”

“What am I to call her tonight? My lady, or Allie, or…” Brad was looking at the floor but seemed to be slipping easily into his role, Allie thought. She met Karl’s eyes as he turned to her.

“Well, Allie?” Karl said. “liege is your submissive. Firstly, are you willing to allow him to assist in topping you tonight?”

Allie glanced from one to the other. “Yes,” she answered after a moment. “I actually think that’s kind of hot.”

“So is it acceptable that he call you ‘Allie’ instead of ‘my lady’ or some other term of deference, while the scene is in progress?”

“Yes, of course,” Allie said, pulling herself back into character. She stepped forward and joined liege on the floor in front of Karl. “We’re here for your pleasure.”

“Very good, my pet,” Karl said, laying a hand on her head. “I am becoming very confident that we can merge into a cohesive and stable threesome. liege, please rise and clean the table while I get out the toys I plan to use. You will find cleaning supplies against the far wall. Allie, please remain where you are until we are ready for you.”

Ten minutes later, Allie was standing up and Karl was unwinding the rope from around her body. She was sorry to see it go. It had given her a warm, secure feeling and lots of attention from other people, something she’d found that she enjoyed very much. It was as if the cords had actually attached her to Karl in some real way. She realized that she was longing for that connection to be intensified. She wanted to show him how much he was beginning to mean to her and how much she needed to please him. She looked around to see what other people were doing. Dave was encasing both of his boys, naked again, in what looked like plastic wrap. Gary and Katie were taking turns flogging tad, who was tied to a large wooden X in the other corner. A lesbian couple was doing needle play under a standing lamp near the door. Irene was on her knees in front of a couch. She seemed to be sucking the cock of a man who was leaning back, his eyes closed and his hands entwined in her hair.

That was it, Allie thought. She waited until Karl was leaning over her, his arms around her to undo the last front knot, and whispered huskily into his ear, “Sir, may I give you a blow job?”

He turned his head just enough to get a glimpse of her face. Quietly he answered, not missing a beat in his work, “Are you sure you’re ready for that kind of public display, pet?”

“Yes, I think so,” Allie said, trying to get into a position to be able to see his eyes clearly. There was a small smile on his lips, but he didn’t seem to be taking her offer seriously.

“Maybe later,” he said finally, as the last bit of rope fell off. He began casually winding it back into the ordered bundles it had been in when he’d started. “But first I’m going to set you on fire.”

Chapter 29

“I’m going to set you on fire,” Karl repeated, looking at Allie’s astonished face in amusement.

Brad’s voice erupted behind Allie. “You’re going to
what
?”

Karl bent down and pulled even more supplies out of his bag. Allie spared a moment to wonder how much more he could possibly have stuffed in there. So far there had been her shoes, the rope, and now he was taking out what looked like two small drumsticks with their ends covered in cotton gauze, a bottle of rubbing alcohol, and a few towels.

“liege,” Karl said, ignoring his question, “you will find a small bucket under the sink. Can you fill that with water and bring it here, please?”

Brad stood still, staring first at Karl then at Allie. It seemed to her that their thought processes must be fairly similar—do we trust Karl? What in the world was he going to do? Was there any chance he was playing some kind of trick on them, pretending this was a normal activity so that he could stage an “accident” and get rid of Allie so he could run the place himself?

That was silly. After a moment, Allie gave Brad a tiny nod, and he returned it before walking away to get the water. She realized then, with a jolt of pleasure, that they were actually in sync with each other again. It felt good, after feeling at odds with him for so long, that she stopped worrying about what Karl was up to and simply obeyed his instructions to lie on the sheet he was arranging on the table.

When Brad came back, Karl tossed a small towel into the bucket of water.

“Accidents are unlikely,” he told them, “but it’s always best to be prepared. Make sure you’re never more than a step away from that, please, liege. Now take this towel, dampen it, and cover her hair. Make sure there’s nothing sticking out from the edges. This is too beautiful to ruin.” He stroked Allie’s hair, winding his hand through it. Suddenly he pulled, harder than she would have expected. Heat raced through her scalp and she tensed, feeling apprehensive again. Then he let go and a rush of endorphins coursed through her body, relaxing all of her muscles at once. The feeling was delicious. “Are you all right?” his voice, soft and silky, sounded in her ear, and she nodded, just as Brad draped a damp towel over her head.

“Then focus on your breathing for a minute while I give liege his instructions,” Karl said. “This won’t be painful, exactly, but I need you to be as calm as possible.” He took something out of his pocket and, leaning over, showed her a small round disc about the size of a quarter. It was carved with a triangle encasing a circle that held three curved lines. He let her study it for a moment before placing it in the hollow of her throat. “This is a token of my protection. I will not allow any harm to come to you when you are under my care. Do you understand?”

“Yes, Sir,” Allie answered, although her nerves were still a bit on edge. But she did as he said, focusing on slowing her breathing until she heard him softly calling her name. When she opened her eyes, he was standing over her brandishing the drumsticks. One was on fire, bringing a small gasp from her. Brad was standing at full attention on the other side of the table, staring at the lit stick as if all of their lives depended on him not letting it out of his sight. That didn’t make her feel confident, either.

Karl winked at her as he arranged both sticks in one hand between his fingers at a forty-five-degree angle from each other. He rotated his hand and slowly ran the unlit one over her stomach. It felt cold and wet, and she jumped involuntarily.

“See, that’s the reaction we don’t want,” he told her, sounding both stern and loving. “I’m just going to do a small section first, to show you that it’s nothing to be afraid of.”

He touched the lit stick to her stomach, and there was a flash of fire. Allie forced herself to lie still, but she saw Brad start convulsively and reach into his bucket for the wet towel. Before he could begin drawing it out, Karl’s free hand swiped across her stomach, extinguishing the flame as it went. Allie felt a very brief sensation of heat just before the fire went out, and then another endorphin rush and a strong temptation to giggle.

“See?” Karl said to both of them at once. “Nothing to be afraid of. It looks impressive and scary, but like so many other things, it’s all show.” He beckoned for Brad to hold out his arm and did a small demonstration on him as well. “Of course I could put more alcohol on it so it would burn longer. You would get a lot more sensation.”

He fell silent then, motioning Brad to his station. Turning back to Allie, Karl ran a line of alcohol from her throat over a breast and down across her stomach, stopping at the hip bone. Allie stared at it, not breathing, as he slowly brought the lit stick down to it. The fire raced over the course he had traced, closely followed by his free hand extinguishing it before the burn had a chance to turn into anything other than a momentary sensation.

For the next fifteen minutes, Allie lay as still as she could, watching, enthralled, as Karl ran flames over her nipples, across her pubic area, up and down her thighs and arms, and finally from one ankle, across her hips, encircling both of her breasts and crisscrossing her stomach and chest to finally end at the base of her throat. Brad gradually relaxed, but he didn’t take his hand out of the water bucket until Karl handed him the two sticks and invited him to try.

Allie found Brad’s hesitant attempts much more alarming than Karl’s practiced, though more intense, session. He fumbled with the fire stick and swiped too hard and clumsily at the flame when it did catch. But she wasn’t really afraid. Karl was closely monitoring his efforts, and she trusted Karl not to let her be hurt.

When Brad looked like he’d had enough, Karl took the carved stone from Allie’s throat and told her to lie still while they got the supplies cleaned up. Allie looked at Brad’s tense face and said, “It was pretty fun. Do you want a turn?”

Karl chuckled. “I’m going to have to veto that suggestion, at least until we can take a razor to him. I don’t think the others would appreciate the smell of burning chest hair.”

Allie hopped off the table to help clean the station as the men took care of the alcohol, water, and burnt cotton. She had been feeling a bit groggy during the scene, but now she was fully alert again. She tossed the sheet into a laundry bin when she went to get cleaning supplies and was humming to herself as she wiped down the table when Beth came over.

“Allie,” Beth said in a low voice. “I’d like to talk to you. Could we meet tomorrow for lunch?”

“Of course,” Allie agreed, collecting her supplies and heading back to the table. “Alone or with the guys?”

“Alone, I think,” Beth said, shooting a look back toward where Karl and Brad were beginning to repack the duffel bag.

“All right.” Allie gave her a quizzical look. “Can you tell me what it’s about?”

“Well…” Beth glanced down, and Allie suddenly realized she was still naked. It hadn’t even occurred to her while she was cleaning the station. She felt her cheeks get hot and her hands moved restlessly, as if trying to decide what to cover.

Beth smiled. “A little late to get shy now,” she said teasingly. Her face went serious again. “Actually it’s about Jane.”

“Oh. Okay,” Allie said, anxious now to get back to Karl. She was suddenly uneasy, although she couldn’t have said exactly why. “When and where?”

They made their arrangements for the following day as Allie found and put her dress back on. Once Karl had verified that Dave was on duty as dungeon monitor, they went outside with Beth and april to get some fresh air and have a chat.

“It’s so beautiful,” Allie sighed, leaning against Brad. Karl stood on her other side holding her hand and caressing it gently. Allie thought contentedly that she couldn’t remember ever having been happier than now.

They all followed Allie’s gaze out to the view of the ocean, looking vast and mysterious in the moonlight.

“Yes, it is,” Beth agreed, pulling april to her as they leaned against the corner of the barn.

There was silence for a moment. april looked at them curiously. “What are you going to call this place?” she asked.

Allie, Brad, and Karl looked at each other. “I don’t know,” Allie said finally. “We were still kind of calling it Walker House, but that’s not going to work.”

Beth shook her head. “No, you’ve got to come up with something more original,” she said.

Brad looked out at the vista again. “Something to do with Oceanside or Oceanview?” he suggested.

Beth rubbed april’s bare arms. “It is a beautiful view,” she said, “but it’s a cold breeze. I think we’re going to go on home now. Good luck, you guys, and I’ll see you tomorrow, Allie!”

The restaurant was crowded, but Beth and Allie got a table in the back where they could talk fairly privately. Allie had spent the entire morning worrying about how the conversation was going to turn out. It secretly terrified her that Beth was going to confide that she knew Jane and Brad had slept together, or something similar that would mess up her newfound domestic harmony. So by the time they had their drinks and ordered lunch, her stomach was in knots.

As the waitress walked away with their menus, Allie turned to Beth. “Okay, I can’t stand this suspense one more minute,” she said, trying to make her voice light and playful. “What is it about Jane?”

Beth looked appraisingly at her. “How much do you know about the situation with Jane, Karl, and your father?” she asked finally.

Allie swallowed. So this wasn’t going to be about Brad. It was going to be about Karl. That was even worse. “Let’s see,” she began, going back over what she’d heard. “Jane and my father were lovers. She was his model for a while. She took over the finances for the house and drove them into the ground. He was devastated, broke up the house, and gave up on life. Is that about it?”

“Well, that’s the CliffsNotes version,” Beth said, nodding. “There was a lot more to it, of course. What I want to talk to you about is when Jane sued your father.”

“Oh, yeah.” Allie nodded. “I forgot about that. She wanted the rights to her pictures, didn’t she?”

“Yes. But she was really trying to prove that she was his business partner. Which she was.” The waitress came back with their salads, and Beth thanked her with a nod, although she kept her eyes on Allie to see her reaction.
