Vows Based on Scripture
Genesis 2:2124
"And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; and the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And so, just as Eve was formed from Adam's rib, not from his head as to rule him, or from his foot to be stepped on, but from his side, to be a helpmate, a partner in life, you have been given to me by God, _______________, to be my partner as we walk side by side through life together and I hereby vow before God and these witnesses to be a true and faithful husband to you, always nurturing, comforting and supporting, loving you until I live no more."
Mark 10:69
"But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; and they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. _____________, as we are united in marriage this day, we shall also cleave to each other, no longer twain, but becoming one flesh, and no forces on earth can ever tear us apart. I pledge my love to you eternally until death parts us."

Ecclesiastes 4:912
"Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat; but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken."
"__________________, I promise, as the scripture says, to stand by your side, always ready to help you up; I promise to lie by your side, always ready to warm you; and I promise to prevail with you, always ready to withstand the hardships of this world. Our marriage bond will be strong, unbreakable, eternal, and I pledge this to you before these witnesses, so help me God."
Ruth 1:1617
Ruth said:
"Entreat me not to leave thee,
Or to return from following after thee:
For wither thou goest, I will go,
And where thou lodgest, I will lodge.
Thy people shall be my people,
And thy God my God.
Where thou diest, will I die,
And there will I be buried.
The Lord do so to me, and more also,
If ought but death part thee and me."
