It was understandable.

But saying that to your boyfriend wasn't one of the best things you
could do. It was an ego-killer.

So I was there, to listen to his relationship crap. I listened
because it's what friends do.

If there was anything I learned from listening to him though, it was
that I was glad I was a succubus. I don't think I could ever handle being in a
relationship. I would probably kill my partner with my hands before my sex did.

The dance floor was packed with people from college. A lot of faces
I knew. A lot of faces I had slept with. I maneuvered around sweaty bodies
until I was right bang in the middle. The techno song blasting through-out the
club was a hit, making everyone look like they were on ecstasy. The atmosphere
just screamed crazy.

I danced in my own world. I didn't need anyone to dance with. I
closed my eyes and let the music take control of my body, sending me to another
realm, where there was nothing but me and the music.

Like all good things, my realm soon vanished when I felt a body
press up against mine. My eyes snapped open and they met with a nicely shaped
chin, a decent amount of stubble forming and instantly, I was being pulled into
him. I didn't flinch away. I wasn't even pissed that he just interrupted me. I
could feel his hands making themselves comfortable on my hips, a set of large
fingers brushing against my light dress. Slowly, my eyes moved up until they
met with dark smoldering ones. Lust and intoxication was his all-round scent.

I didn't recognize him from college, but he was around the same age
as me if not a few years older. Our bodies had started moving together without
any hesitation, my hands finding his shirt when his tongue flicked over his
bottom lip. He was watching my lips with pure hunger. A hunger I was starting
to feel grow inside me. I was due for another hit and he came at a perfect
time.

For some reason, both of us seemed to know what the other needed. No
talking, just touching.

My arms traveled up the wide space of his broad chest until they
slid around his neck. I could feel his nose trail along my cheek, the warmth of
his breath tickling my skin.

As I was looking over his shoulder, I saw an image I couldn't
handle. Tristan smiled down at Tori, playing with a piece of her hair before
placing it behind her ear and leaning down—

I closed my eyes, and without even thinking, I found myself burying
my face into the crook of this guy’s neck. I couldn't bear to watch something
so intimate happen between them. It was a stupid thing for me to say. I really
didn't have a right to be like this. Tristan was happy with Tori. It didn't
matter what I thought. It didn't matter that I would love to have someone just
smile down at me, play with my hair, whisper things into my ear—great, I'm
going to be an emotional wreck soon. I've drank way too many.

I needed a distraction and this guy in front of me was willing to be
that.

My head moved and as if we had the same mind, my lips met with soft
ones. They weren't the perfect lips that I imagined, but they were enough. His
fingers pressed against my back and I arched into him, pressing myself closer.
He took my top lip between his and tugged gently, causing a soft sigh to pass
my lips. I needed more.

I could feel my demon awaken inside me, starting to spread her lust
and capture her prey. She was as hungry as me.

And who was I to deny her?

“Don't tell me, you're imagining me in bed again?” Daniel's voice
pulled me out of the memory.

“Please,” I scoffed, “if anything, you're the one trying to get his
self in my pants, remember? PS: I'm not wearing any.” He went silent and I knew
I got him good. “Don't tell me, you're imagining me in bed again, huh?”

“Well how could I not when you're going around telling me what you
aren't wearing?” he exclaimed.

“Want to know something else?” I teased.

He cleared his throat, he knew what was coming. “What's that?”

“I'm about to go for a shower, naked.”

Two – Am I The Only One That Can’t
Stand
College
?

Last day of college was finally here, and boy was I glad. The campus
crawled with all the students, bustling away to their final classes for the
next few months. That is unless you're going to summer school, then you're
fucked. Not that there's anything wrong with it. I just hate class, except for
English. English was good.

I had even been forced into signing up for summer classes, just so I
could have a reason to stay on campus. I’m sure Melinda was in on it too. It
was stupid of us, because not only are we not intending to go, but it'll
probably affect our grades more in three months than a year.

No one told me college was going to be so complicating.

I had picked up a coffee from a nearby cafe before arriving in the
madness. It was lucky too. I wasn't a morning person and unless people wanted
to deal with my short-temper, then I needed my coffee. I wasn't in any rush
getting to my class though, so I spent the last five minutes before, to sit at
a bench. I reverted to people watching, which seemed to be fun when everyone
around you was acting like the world was going to end.

It wasn't long before a shadow loomed over my head, and I glanced up
to see Melinda Jacobs, my fellow succubus. Confused, I arched a brow as she sat
down. I should have felt her coming from a mile away. Sensing another one of
your kind was a perk that came with being a succubus, and I was only confused
because I couldn't gather a decent amount of scent on her. Which really only
meant one thing. “Someone got laid last night. Your lust scent is almost
non-existent,” I said smugly.

The side of Melinda's lips pulled up and she took a quick sip of her
iced coffee. Like me, she needed a caffeine fix. Her light brown hair was
pulled up into a messy high bun, while dark glasses covered her eyes. I almost
envied how she could still look like she walked on the runway for a living,
even with a hangover.

Eventually she let out a long breath. “You would think they would be
the one exhausted, but this guy was definitely something. We had sex six times
last night. He wasn't tired what-so-ever. It's a record, I swear. He eventually
did pass out. There was just a lot of energy on him. Must be drugs, it usually
explains it all,” she said.

Drugs were the one thing that could either frustrate us, or it could
be helpful. It all depended on the lust level you were in.

“Must have been one hell of a night for your roommate,” I murmured,
just as the last groups of people walked past, not caring that they were going
to be late.

“Oh, please. She wasn't even there. She's already gone for the
summer, thank God.” She took a sip of her drink and looked towards me. I smiled
an innocent smile when she pushed her glasses down, pointing those emerald
green eyes my way. “You have this crazy lust scent looming all over you, Maya.
You obviously haven't put out in a while. You need to hurry up or you know what
will happen.”

“Yeah yeah, been there, done that, got the shirt and everything,” I
muttered. She had a point though. If I didn't release the lust that the demon
inside me was putting off, I was going to start getting bombarded by males.
They would want sex at just the sight of me. It was a good thing, and then it
was more of a bad thing.

The first time it happened, I almost got myself involved in a gang
bang. Not something I wanted to
ever
get involved in. Not exactly high
on my list of things to do before I die either. It's just too much to handle at
once. Melinda would even last longer than me in that situation.

Since the day of my eighteenth birthday, Melinda had been my longest
friend. As much as it makes me sound like a loner, it was true. She helped me
through getting over the idea that I was some life sucking bitch. In all
honesty, it wasn't a full shock to me. I was taken-back of course, but it
wasn't a huge thing for me. I was drunk at the time, so that might have helped
a bit. I had already lost my virginity at the age of 16, becoming a succubus
was just that added topping on the cake. If it wasn't for the demon thing, I'd
probably be on an episode of
16 and Pregnant
or
Teen Mom
.

One thing that did make me laugh however was the fact that Melinda
was my neighbor at the time. Oh, how the SIA were so spot on with some things.
We even went to the same schools together, but yet, we were in different
crowds. She was older than me by a few months, so she was the one who found me
at the park around the corner from our houses, singing happy birthday to myself
in a drunken slur—I don't exactly remember much of that day. I swear I drank
more than I would at a party.

Either way, she stayed with me—drank with me. We've been inseparable
since.

Daniel came into the picture last year. He was visiting
L.A.
for some art exhibition with a few
friends. As much as I always denied this but Melinda and I could smell the
richness of him, all the way from the bar that was around the corner. Not
saying that we're gold diggers, but we were pretty spot on. The guy was as rich
as the president—not really, but it was close enough. Our first reaction was
excitement, because we hadn't met an incubus before him. After meeting with
those sky blue eyes and being hugged by those strong surfer boy arms, we were
hooked.

It was lust at first sight. A few days later and we had become
triplets. Next thing you know, our periods are in sync with each other—kidding.

But we all connected. We all acquired a protectiveness for each
other, Daniel being the alpha of the pack—as he likes to put it. There was
always going to be one thing that we all had in common. Other than the fact we
were all part of an association, we weren't close to our families and neither
of us planned on changing that.

“So, what’s your plan for the summer?” Melinda asked, straightening
out her long white dress.

I considered giving her the same answer I gave Jamie, but I didn't
really see the point. There was nothing I hid from Melinda. She could tell when
I was lying. And that wasn't because of being a succubus. If anything, Melinda
was the one person who knew as much about me as I did—from the smile on my face
when Tristan was around, to the bored look of it when his girlfriend was with
him. Plus, she already knew I was staying in my dorm through summer, so it
really beats everything else. I settled with a shrug. “Probably hang out on the
beach and get drunk, what about you?” It wasn't exactly my plan, but it could
work out that way.

“You have such an interesting lifestyle, Maya,” she said bluntly, as
if she has anything better to do. “I'm no better.” See. “Need a drinking
buddy?”

“When have I denied a night out with a fellow succubus?”

Her glasses were back over her eyes and she pursed her lips out. I
knew where this was going. “Well, there was one-time where you didn't want to—”

“Okay, never mind,” I interrupted. “I'm going to accept your
self-invitation and raise it with nights out at the club. Speaking of, are you
coming to Tristan's match tonight? I heard the opponent was from Santa Barbra,
which means hotties with tanned out bodies.” I wagged my brows, trying to
persuade her enough to agree and settle this now.

She wasn't at all falling for my tricks. She pressed her lips together
and released them in a
pop
. “We'll see how it goes. If I recover
tonight, you're on. If I'm still tired, then nope think again buddy. Anyway, I
have to go to class. Bore. So glad it's the last day. When does the roommate
leave?”

“About 6, I think.”

“Great. I'll come over then if I can make it tonight. If not, you
can kick my ass another time. Ciao.” She turned and waved her fingers in the
air, like some type of royalty. I let out a short laugh and shook my head
amusingly. She could be so dramatic with her farewells, and sometimes they
could distract her from what she was supposed to be doing—or in this case,
where she was going.

“Hey Melinda,” she turned back around to face me with a questioning
look. I nodded my head in the opposite direction she was heading. “Your class
is that way.”

“Oh.” It took her a few glances in the direction to finally
understand that she was going the wrong way. She cleared her throat and held
her head high as she walked past me again. “I knew that,” she mumbled, and it
only made me burst out laughing.

“See you tonight!” I called out before finishing the remainder of my
coffee and heading towards Hell—I mean class.

****

“I want you all to pair up and read this scripture on William
Shakespeare.”

“Why am I in this class?” I moaned quietly, my hand coming up to rub
at my temples.

Why am I even in college? Oh right, because I wanted to be a normal
human being. Who even wants that nowadays? You have bitches running off with
vampires on movies and TV shows, witches are becoming Gods of this place, and
let's not forget the werewolves that love to show off every now and then.
