Matt laughed.

“Not a chance in hell,” he assured her. “The baby would go to Terri’s sister Lisa down in Mississippi.”

The knot in Aubrey’s stomach finally relaxed.

“She’s at 44 Wolf Creek Road,” Aubrey told him.

“Who is?” Matt asked.

“Emma Mosley. She’s at 44 Wolf Creek Road. Do me a favor and say you got an anonymous tip, okay?” Aubrey asked him. “I don’t want to cause any trouble. I have to live next door to these people.”

She disconnected the call before he could ask her any hard questions, crammed it back into Drake’s pouch, and shifted back to wolf, grateful for the warmth of her fur.

Aubrey knew that Matt would get the State Police there quickly. They would take custody of the baby and probably arrest the people who had been keeping her. Little Emma would be sent to live with her mother’s sister in Mississippi, where she had been headed before all this began. Aubrey wanted to hunker in the bushes and watch it all. She wanted to see who owned the house and see their faces as they realized that they were caught. But she wanted to go home and hop into the hot tub with Joe even more.

She loped off into the night with Drake at her heels, wondering what the proper situational beverage for making the world a better place was.
