“Cat.” Nate took me by the shoulders. “It’s very important that you tell me what you know.”

“Why?” My voice came out too sharply. “Why you?”

“Me, all of us. It doesn’t have to be me. Cat, this is big.”

“She’s Sebastian’s fiancée. It doesn’t involve Dominick.”

“You’re trying to protect him.” Nate’s voice went cold. “Well, let’s see if you still want to in a second. She wasn’t
just
Sebastian’s fiancée, Cat. Dominick didn’t just take Ellison Corp. He took everything Sebastian had.”

“No,” I whispered. I was shaking my head.

“And now he’s back, and she’s dead. So tell me: what do you think’s going on? Because all I can see is that the Ellisons are just as bad as we thought.”

The sound of my phone buzzing jolted me away, and I looked down to see a blocked number. I put it down on the table, but Nate picked it back up and handed it to me.

“You should answer it.”

“Why?”

“Right now? You know why.”

I glared at him as I yanked the phone away. “This is Catriona.”

“Hello, Catriona.” The voice was smooth and light. “This is Sebastian Ellison.”
